I’m glad I read this after having taken my dog out for exercise!

Reminds me of a guy I know who was smoking a cigarette (true story) as we stepped up to the line to start a marathon in Eugene OR. Stomped on the cig butttt as he took off at the start. True he was only running a half marathon and I did the whole one but still. Nowadays he would probably get mobbed for such a thing.
Correlation is not causation but still. It is true that for many folks Pre-diabetes can be reversed by getting in the typical 10,000 steps per day. A1C blood sugar levels go to normal and sugar spikes largely go away. In the days before insulin they held diabetics up and walked them pretty long distances as the only thing that could help.

My sister used to come home from her morning run drenched with sweat and then light up a cigarette. I couldn’t understand it, but then again, I had horrible asthma as a kid, so I never understood smoking in the first place.

I didn't know that about diabetes. My friends so has it. He is very overweight and works to full time jobs as a truck driver. Sigh, she can't make those kinds of suggestions to him.
