Some of you have been with this challenge for months and some are brand new. This is one of the hardest challenges to stay with throughout the entire month. FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS!! Log every BLT (Bite, Lick, Taste). Stay strong and true to yourself....YOU WILL SUCCEED!!
Please feel free to share as much information as you feel comfortable sharing about yourself with the rest of the group. I look forward to getting to know all of you a little better. GOOD LUCK!

I'm in!! Even if I'm in maintenance this group has helped immensely keeping me accountable for the last few months, since I started taking it seriously.
Cannot wait to do another month! You guys have been like family to me.
I'm a 32 yrs old, triathlete with a full time job and volunteering. If that was not enough I love surfing, bodyboarding (alright not in this season!) and paddle boarding.7 -
I'm in. November needs to be all about the focus as my next jiu jitsu competition is 1 Dec!!!
I'm happy that summer is here and that means beach days will be happening in between all the training!
I have maintained a 20kg loss for nearly 3 years now, but still want to drop another 5ish so I can walk around at my fighting weight and not stress about making weight for competitions. Pushing hard so this season I get there!8 -
Hi all. I turned 60 last month (GASP! NNNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!!) and this is my second month with the UAC. Weight-wise, I reactivated my MFP account 6 months ago, and managed to shed 17 pounds through thoughtful, self-aware food choices and regular cardio between April and Aug. Then in September, I hit a plateau (and possible mental block) as I just couldn't seem to settle into the 150.Xs, let alone break down into the 149.Xs. Numerous times in the past this has been the plateau-point where I start losing steam and commitment.
But not this time. The October UAC helped me bust that plateau, despite having reached a less-forgiving-metabolism point in my life. So this upping the ante on accountability and self-awareness has been the breakthrough I needed right now.
I didn't make the October Winners' Circle ... but I gather from previous intros that doing so on a first month is pretty rare. But birthday - Canadian Thanksgiving - Halloween are all behind me as Nov 1 dawns .... and The Holly Daze season won't start till Dec. So I have high hopes of hitting the winner's circle this time. After all ..... (see my icon picture) ... the pigs ARE flying now ....9 -
Hi y'all!! I'm 20, from Southern Lousiana, and I've been trying to get fit and healthy since 2016 because I can't go into adulthood out of shape and not living healthy. Too many young adults already make awful decisions with their lives & bodies and I just can't be one of them lol. I'm just terrified of having to spend my 20s-30s feeling & looking awful, and letting that prevent me from reaching my goals (career/lifestyle/hobbies-wise). I've had to really fight my social anxiety & urge to forever be a shut-in, plus my binge eating/disordered eating and I'm definitely better than I was 2-9 years ago but it's still an ongoing battle.
Decided I want to come back for November~ I've had a very rocky October but the month is almost over and I just want to start over fresh next month. This time I don't wanna drop out just cuz I'm frustrated at myself for having so many pass days. My goal is to have just 3-5 pass days but if I exceed that I still want to participate and continue to focus on making healthier choices.
October, I fell back into a bad restrict-binge cycle and I messed up a bunch of progress and I keep making bad decisions when it comes to my eating habits, and I'm still upset over it, and it might take me until Nov. 1 to really get back on a good track. However my goal for November-December and onward is to work super hard on my relationship with food/fitness/body image or else I'll never make progress. I can't keep failing
I need to really focus on making a change and sticking to it for once. I don't feel happy or healthy right now, and it's irrational to keep doing this to my body.
After dropping out of October's challenge I noticed I do a lot better when I have somewhere to check in daily, with actual accountability & support, so I definitely want to participate in the challenge again and see how I do.
The goal this month isn't perfection, just progress. Less strict, but no slack. Just make more mindful, smart choices & be more consistent. (i kinda feel like i'm constantly repeating the same ol' "goals" every month though, i keep having to start over... -sigh- this part of life is only temporary though, one day i WILL conquer, heal, and recover just can't give up no matter what )
Hope y'all have a great Halloween!! 🎃11 -
Hi everyone. This will be my second month in the UAC. October was a challenging month for me with lots of activities and company. UAC was extremely helpful in keeping me on track. With the holidays coming up I am hoping the UAC will continue to keep me focused. I am dealing with that tough final 11 pounds to lose, so the support and accountability from this group is really important.
I really enjoyed my first month in UAC and getting to know everyone. Welcome to the new members. Wishing everyone a successful month ... see you in the winner's circle!8 -
November will be my 12th month of participating in the UAC challenge with the goal being to live a healthy life. Monitoring calories, logging, and exercise are the key components of this challenge, yielding success when coupled with individual determination to stay on track. I have been in maintenance since January 2018, and find that balancing exercise and calories to neither gain nor lose weight requires just as much attentiveness as actively trying to lose or gain. One can't become complacent simply because a goal has been achieved. To continue to maintain requires continued diligence. Accordingly, I have come to realize this is a lifelong commitment. I'm not sure I like that realization, as I never had to be concerned about calories for the first 40 years of my life. With 70 being less than 2 years away, I am certainly one of the more senior members of this group; and as @BMcC9 pointed out, the metabolic rate is not what it used to be, so adjustments are in order.
UAC is my inspiration for continued diligence. I often don’t make Winner’s Circle due to travel; but I always have a “home” to come back to with like-minded “family members.” Welcome to all the new team members who are joining UAC for the first time in November, and to the "virtual friends" with whom I have become acquainted in the last several months. Thank you for being my cheerleaders on this journey. I am privileged to be among you!7 -
Hello,
My name is Kelsea, and I am a 27-year-old Physician Assistant student. I had previously been with UAC for over a year, but stepped out of the group as my life got busier. However, I just signed up for my first half-marathon. Every year I do a 10-mile Tough Mudder Marathon, but this will be my first long-distance run challenge. I'm hoping that being a part of this group will help me stay on task and get conditioned for the run.
Good luck everyone!9 -
November will be my second month for UAC. It has been a great help in keeping my efforts more consistent in October. Walking is my favourite exercise, but November here is grey, wet cold and often icy - so I tend to hibernate - so the plan is to use the challenge to support finding activity that does not involve the outdoors.8

Signing up for November! Been with UAC since February, and though I've only made the circle once for September it has brought majorr changes in my daily life.
Mindful living with tracking, moving and staying on calorie target are everything. Fingers crossed, it looks like I'll be breaking the longest plateau ever in November! On the edge of a number on the scale I haven't seen in over 10 years.6 -
Hi, I'm Laura, I'm 37 and live in London, UK. I'm excited to be joining a group focusing on accountability rather than results. I don't like feeling pressure to lose x number of pounds and would rather focus on the things I can control like activity and tracking. I may not even weigh in for the whole month and just see the results at the end. The only potential blip this month is a 3 day holiday to Iceland. I'm planning to be very active whilst there - lots of walking and swimming - but no idea what I'll eat! Hopefully I won't have to use all my Pass days in one go.7

Hello! I'm Cinzia, 38 y.o. and live in Colorado. This is my first UAC challenge! I've been tracking my daily food, exercise, water, etc w/the MFP app since the beginning of October and love it. I'm currently focusing on weight loss and toning.
Looking forward to joining the challenge and additional accountability!6 -
Hi, I am Michele. This is my first time with this challenge and I am looking forward to the challenge and the support. I am more or less at maintenance but have a couple of pounds that I put on from a stressful/hectic period in my life that need to come off. With the holidays coming, I really want to focus on taking them off before it gets out of hand. I do log my food on another site and getting back to daily tracking will be the best thing ever for me. My major form of exercise is walking though I want to work on adding strength and stretching to my routine too. It has been a hectic stressful year for me and things are finally getting to the point where I can focus more on my own health. Looking forward to getting to know all of you!5

Hi, this is my first UAC Challenge and I am looking forward to getting to know others who are logging regularly and trying to lose a few pounds. I lost a load of weight (45 pounds) about 6 years ago.... but at the end of last year about 20lbs came creeping back. I was determined to lose it over the summer, but after an initial loss of 8lbs, I have stalled. I find it relatively easy to do at least 20 mins of exercise a day, its the remaining 23 hours 40 mins, where I struggle to stay within a calorie deficit.
I am hoping that the accountability, and admission of failure, will help kick start my regime, and allow me to enter December at a weight I am more comfortable with.5 -
Hello UAC members!
This will be my 7th month in UAC. I have 1 year left on my goal timeline. I may reach my goal earlier then expected which would be a bonus! I then plan to stay with UAC for maintenance support. It helps me a lot to have the accountability.
I like to wake up super early and I have a nice morning routine. I get my workouts done in the morning so I don't run into any excuses later in the day. This has worked well for me.
I live in Florida and the weather is now turning beautiful so I may double up and do extra cardio outside in the afternoons.
As for eating, I am very disciplined. I eat a clean keto diet and it has done wonders for me, I love it!
Tracking every taste has kept me on real track because with keto you need to know what you're eating and how much you're eating.
I look forward to a great November! Thank you all for participating and contributing!

Hi UAC members! I'm Sheila, and I'm from BC, Canada. I'm 21, I like to run, and am working towards a kinesiology degree. This is my first month with the challenge. I started MFP about 2+ years ago, but haven't been consistent. I have a bad habit of late night snacking, and stress eating. I'm hoping to hit a new low next month. My exercises of choice are running, walking, and yoga. I will also do strength training.4

Hi, I am Teresa from south Georgia. I am 48 and just starting to workout and lose weight. This is my first month with this challenge, I feel that it will help me be more motivated to stay on track. I do walking or the stair master five days a week, and I work with a personal trainer twice a week strength training.5

Hi, I'm 38, working mom of 2, and am coming back to try to stay accountable. I started the year here, stayed a few months and just phased out. I go back and forth with my mindset...sometimes I am super motivated and on track, and sometimes quite the opposite. I'm hoping being back here will help me stay motivated!5

Hi, I’m Jackie 57 years old from Washington State. My favorite form of exercising is running, walking our beautiful trails, hiking and enjoying Body Works and Aquatic Fitness classes.
This is my 5 UAC, I totally love the accountability it gives me. Plus the motivation from everyone. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone and watching everyone achieve their goals.
Let’s make this happen

I'm Terri. I'm 72 years young from Northern Ireland. Retired teacher.
I have been using MFP since Jan 2015. I have lost 62 lbs, but have been bobbing up and down 5lbs for a couple of months now. Losing the final 10lbs seems more difficult, but I'm determined to get it done by Christmas, so this is just the ticket for me at the minute.
Focus at present is achieving a maintenance weight that gives me wriggle room for high days and holidays. I'm using daily HIIT cardio/strength combo, and yoga/tai chi. I have my own weights and apart from walking, I work out at home using YouTube, fitnessblender, darebee, and anything else I come across. I love dancing, and attend fortnightly dance classes.
Present Daily Goals:✅ Staying strong. I am determined to do this.
Pre-log food; balance macros/micros
Hydrate adequately
Cardio: 9,500+ Steps daily
Strength: 15+ minutes
Flexibility: 15+ mins
Daily Mindfulness Practice/meditation
15+ mins Daily Declutter session
Challenges: Sole Mates/100 days/Just 10 Days/UAC4 -
Hello I am Koko. I am a special education teacher and a mom of two in elementary school. I have been on my fitness pal for a while, but recently started focusing on my weight after my mother in law was diagnosed with ALS in April and passed away in August. I have been back tracking since the middle of July and have lost 16 pounds. This challenge will keep me focused on what I need to do to lose my weight5

Hello, my name is Dora I have been on my fitness pal for some time but never took part in the features the app has to offer and when I saw this challenge I had to take part because of the need for daily accountability.

Hi everybody! I'm brand new to this group, but super excited to join an accountability group and hopeful that it will keep me on task. I'm 30 years old and have been struggling with losing weight over the years, especially since being diagnosed with PCOS about 9 years ago (I've gained 80 lbs in those 9 years. Ugh).
I'm determined that NOW is the time that I will stick with my goals, and have actually already lost 12 lbs after starting out on October 1st.
I've been doing a lot of calorie bargaining over the month ("Oh man, I ate way too many cookies. I should probably do the 45 minute Turbo Jam to compensate!"), and I think that's my biggest thing to work on this month (and I think this group is just what I needed to keep me focused on that).
I look forward to getting started with you guys!5 -
Hi,
This is my first UAC and I'm excited for the accountability!

Hiya! *waves*
This is my first time being involved in any part of the MFP community despite being an old-guard member. I'm a powerlifting, boxing, running, indoor climbing, tennis, hiking, horseriding, and general-outdoors fanatic. I love food and sun. Went from 308lb (too wide) to 130lb (too narrow), developed some unhealthy eating behaviours, and am still trying to grapple with 'em. Currently at 191 lbs (made some poor Halloween choices tonight) and looking to lean out by about 15-20lbs.
I love to walk everywhere (I live in Australia, it's utterly gorgeous hereI- generally end up doing anywhere between 10kms - 20kms a day), and I love weight training even more, but I eat too much. It's that simple. I overeat (because of the mild obsession with food/eating I developed when I I was too narrow) and am trying to solve that.
Aims:
1. Increase my bench press, overhead press, deadlift and squat 1RM/PBs by at least 1kg by EOM
2. Eat like a human. No bingeing after the meal is over
3. Stick as close to Keto/Paleo/primal as possible - minimal sugar, no grains
4. Be calmer about food
5. Exercise every day - strength 4 x a week, cardio 2 x times a week, and 1 day of just walking
6. Stretch more!!! I'm hypermobile, but considering how much strain I put my body through, is no wonder I'm always stiff and sore6 -
Hi All, this is my first month with this challenge. I’m a busy 41-yr old mom of four. I’m losing my last 10-15 pounds, and I’m finding that it’s coming off sooo slowly that I get bored or discouraged. I think it will be nice to be challenged about the logging and exercise every single day, especially before the holidays hit.5
-
Question: do we have to log water? I usually don’t log things that don’t have any calories.0
-
@suzievv, I don’t1
