We meet here to explore, share, celebrate, and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Thread starters for November below:

Monday - Imastar2 (Derrick)
Tuesday - whathapnd (Emmie)
Wednesday - Jimb376mfp (Jim)
Thursday - EliteCoachKal (Kal)
Friday - savignr (Bob)

Today’s Topic: I’m in a Rehabilitation Hospital for recovery.

Have you experienced results affecting your LTL or WW efforts from eating good/bad food in hospital ?

My first four days Results were a spike to my blood sugar, constipation, not draining my bladder ( TMI).

From Sunday to Wed I took controls to address better choices and have blood sugar managed. Many Rx meds messing up internal systems.

I’m giving myself a break from the scale and addressing healthy choices. Challenges abound.

I usually carp about the lack of taste (NO salt), but other than that it's just effit. Do the excercises, get well.

I’ve spent 1 night in the hospital. They took me for tests before breakfast arrived. I got back, breakfast was there. Cold. Scarfed it right down.

About 20 minutes later, lunch came. Knocked that off too.

Didn’t mean a thing to my program.

I'm lucky--no hospitilization since starting this part of my life. Assuming if I did though, I would prioritize accordingly. The hospital is full of walking and sleeping reminders of why I started this journey in the first place. While I don't know that I'd be 100% compliant with LTL, I think there'd be motivation to do the best I could (and get the hell out of there).

Keep the faith, @Jimb376mfp . Hope you're homeward bound soon!

No hospital stays for me but back in November 2014 I had to stay face down for 5 full days after emergency eye surgery. The boredom was the worst right along with how sore my neck was from maintaining this posture. I had pre-cooked most of my food so DH could reheat it for me. With the lack of activity my appetite diminished so I stayed weight neutral during this time.

    Looking good Jim!

I only spent one night in ICU after my stent. I got one meal to make sure I could eat solid food, peed, did a very slow lap around the ICU with a nurse and was sent home.

In 2009, after losing 50 lbs on WW and making lifetime, I wound up in the hospital undergoing a triple bypass. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks, a week and a half before surgery and three days after. When I left I no longer fit into the clothes I was wearing when I went in. I was also extremely constipated. It's taken me until now to finally get back to where I was before I went in.

@Jimb376mfp Great to see you Jim. Sorry I'm late to the party. Too busy for my own good. By the time you read this you'll have been home and continued your recovery. There may be more post since you were released so I'm trying to catch up.

To the topic at hand I have to thank the Almighty that in my 71& 1/2 years I've never had an overnight stay at the hospital. Doesn't many a night with relatives etc but not myself and for that I am so grateful.
