Hi there everyone, my name is Deborah and I'm 57 years old, i weigh 236 pounds and i'm only 5'2. My health and energy level is at an all time low, I'm very discouraged and don't know where to start, I've been on this journey a very long time with my weight and i feel so beaten up, like I'm on a diet roller coaster, please i could really use some encouragement and what works for others with diet and exercise, thank you in advance.

Hello Deborah. I can give a bit of insight as to what I've been doing. I'm still struggling but I know that I would weigh at least 30-40 more pounds had I not taken these steps. First, I had to get honest with myself about what was keeping my weight elevated. Emotional eating, an eating disorder, lack of control, possibly a medical reason. Knowing this, I turned to places like MFP and also started to weed out my barriers. Finding a way to keep me motivated by tracking by finding small challenges, seeing a metabolic specialist for testing to rule out medical reasons, counseling to help with my binge eating disorder, giving myself praise for the small victories and looking for way to make small victories, and finding an app that would help me to exercise at home because I can't always get to the gym. I think weeding out all of the small issues instead of tackling the big issue of needing to lose weight one step at a time is what has been helpful to me. I'm not even close to my goal weight but I stopped gaining weight which was huge for me. As far as weight lifting, one benefit to needing to lose fat is that we have readily available weights attached to us lol so bodyweight exercises could be a good place to start, seriously. Hopefully this helps you on your journey and I wish you the best.1

Good Morning!
I find that eating whole foods really helps with the energy and positivity throughout my fitness journey. Use pinterest to find healthy alternatives to your favorite recipes! Another thing that helps is just feeling good about yourself get a workout outfit you love and think you look great in to help jumpstart how you feel about your workouts!! There is also alot of great youtube videos that will do workouts for free - i love blogilates - and you just follow along. You also have to remember becoming the best version of yourself is spiritually mentally and physically challenging you are building yourself a whole new lifestyle. It is not a diet it is a new way to eat and you do not have to be restrictive just make healthier swaps and operate at a calorie deficit everyday paired with excercise and you will lose weight - even just a long walk will make a difference.
you got this !
