My wife, Rose, with Cinderella’s Castle in the background.
We will be flying home to wintry Chicago on Wednesday.
As we travel, it tracking caloric intake and exercise gives me the tools to keep on track. Before the UAC, I would just pretend that it was okay to take cheat days.
That does not work!20 -

Daughters graduation from middle school to senior school tonight. Year 10 next year. She is doing well at the school. She has ASD and the school is extremely accomodating (this means she is very bright, thinks differently to most, change causes anxiety, has trouble with relationships, has trouble recognising social cues, normal scholastic testing evokes extreme stress - think Big Bang Theories Sheldon, but not as extreme).
After presentation of all awards was canapés and drinks. Good selection, but limited self to high protein and diet soda. This way no problems with tiredness or staying in my normal calorie budget.
@RangerRickL. Great pictures. I've been to Disneyland in Hong Kong and Paris (unfortunately, only when over 30, would love to have gone as a child). They are fantastic places. My daughter has also been to Disneyland in Tokyo (and all while less than 14, the perfect ages to do so.)
So true about tracking while travelling. It means you fell SO much better when you get home because cheat days count and they do add up.

You are so correct "cheat days" don't work. I have explore this concept in the past. I have witness other people.....
Result.... failure, failure, and more failures!
The questions that always come to my mind is "why cheat days"? "who is been cheated"? "What is the outcome or reward of these days"? The answer has not been encouraging to me.
I am too precious for the results from cheat days. Therefore, I encourage myself everyday with these: "You are too expensive for these results" "You are very precious" "

I first encountered the term “Cheat Day” on MFP - luckily AFTER I’d been on my weight loss journey over 1 year, 10 months! My instant reaction was “Cheat Day?! The only person I’d be cheating is myself.”
Eating with no concern for health (but only for taste & an overfull feeling) is exactly the habit I’ve worked for 3 years to change & practice. So I always think of an alcoholic. No one would suggest he/she go on a bender once a month.
So, I applied that same approach to myself. No cheat days. I don’t want to reactivate that part of my brain/body.
Besides, it’s just food, nutrients, health! Not entertainment, reward, Love, companionship, relaxation...
It’s just food (nutrients) —> HEALTH

For clarity December 1-4 are 3xs Yes.
I'm not sure why I keep messing up my posting dates.
On the topic of cheat days..they have not ever worked for me! They would just set me in a tail spin and ruin all my hard work. I have taken pass days but kept to healthy choices with purpose and this has helped me stay on track for 7 months straight!6 -
Yes x 3 for today!
I don't like saying cheat day. It's negative and makes me feel like I did something wrong. I much prefer the term planned indulgences. For instance, this Friday at my Christmas party I have every intention of having a planned indulgence and I will not feel guilty at all, because I know that the very next day I will be right back to what is now my normal and healthy way of eating.11 -

Yes x 3 for today.
@less100n00. I agree with you. I occasionally take a planned day off from exercise to give my body a rest from my normal 90 to 120 minutes a day. Also, I have planned days where I eat at maintenance or slightly above. In both cases I still track everything. I never do either 2 days in a row and never more than 3 per month total (thank you UAC! )7 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes, a 60 minute Align and Define yoga class in the morning, and a 60 minute Hatha yoga class this evening.

Squeaked by today! Logged all, tramped a mile down and up hauling a heavy toboggan to and from the car, and got in some short circuits. Just made it on calories.7

Exercise? Yup
Calories? Oh yes, did even better than yesterday, although I do wish I didn't eat so much chocolate. I still stayed under my goal, but it would have been more nutritionally sound to eat my 200 calorie Sargento snack (the one with cheddar cheese, cashews, and craisins) rather than 4 additional pieces of chocolate. But it's okay. I got the pleasure from the chocolate while staying under my goal. Next time, I'll aim to make the healthier decision.
Tracked? Everything -- even my 6 pieces of chocolate Quite a bit for one day but I had a light dinner so everything balanced out in the end.9 -
yes yes yes - 4 days in a row, I'm feeling chufffed. Really happy that my son and daughter are wanting to get fit as well now as well -I'm very happy about that :-)7

@craigo3154 Congrats to your daughter for graduation from middle school to senior school. We refer to it in the states as high school or senior high. You can be very proud of her accomplishments given the challenges with ASD.
@ld8628 Hope you are feeling better soon!
@davert123 “Really happy that my son and daughter are wanting to get fit as well now -I'm very happy about that :-)” @craigo3154 has had the pleasure of having his wife aim for a more healthy lifestyle with extremely positive medical results. He is a leader by example. Your desire to be healthy will similarly be a great role model for your son and daughter.
Jim and I enjoyed a wonderful concert performance this evening by Daniel Emmet from America's Got Talent. He is a wonderful vocalist and was a finalist on AGT.9 -

Exercise: Yes, just walking/chores today
Calories: Yes, surprisingly under even with the treats I had!
Tracked: Yes!
made a super rich & tasty chicken broth, now I got a Pre-Ferment going on for some more whole wheat bread to make tomorrow! And to go with that I'm making Butternut Squash Soup with the homemade broth for dinner I'm excited lol
as far as cheat days go, i need to avoid purposeful "cheat" days (aka "binge days" for me) unless its a special occasion cuz it seems no matter what i always fall off the wagon with a cheat day, but i've been more flexible/accepting of treats that are portioned and within my calories so I don't feel too restricted or like I'm missing out7 -
Yes to all today!
Tonight, I went back and forth from the fridge literally 3 times to night-snack which is for sure my downfall, each time putting the food back and not eating. Instead, I brushed my teeth and kept busy until bedtime. I feel SO VICTORIOUS that I didn’t cave and binge-eat. It’s really hard to stop when I feel the urge to binge, so often I have to just take it one urge at a time, let alone one day at a time. This group has really been helping give me motivation and accountability to stick with it, even though it’s just 4 days in. I’m really happy to be here ☺️☺️8 -
