Just Curious...When did you Begin?

As Newbies begin in the New Year, I remember joining WW (again after many times) I joined in 2013. This time I did not quit. Actually learned to LTL! My first year I do not have a resolution to lose weight.

When was your NEW YEAR that began to LTL?

    I first joined WW in 1993. I made goal that year and then went back to my old lifestyle and gained the weight back in a year or two. I bounced in and out for the next 20 years. In 2013 I came back and got back down to goal and adopted the lifestyle. I've been at goal since then. I finally realized there is no finish line and you never graduate from the program.

    11/26/10 was my start date. I struggled for almost 9 months then had sleep studies done and started on my bi/pap machine for severe sleep apnea. Lousy the vivacious appetite and lost 100 lbs in a little over a year. Then been yo yoing eversince.
    Tired of russett and ready for a change and get started being serious.

    June 2011 I started WW at Work. I made LT March 2012 and have stayed at or below goal since that time. Having support this time around made all the difference over all my previous weight loss/weight regain journeys.

    Well, I started weight loss 12/24/94 at 285 lbs. Lost on my own to about 215lbs. Joined WW in 2006 after more than a decade of not closing the deal. Made GW and Lifetime in the fall of 2006 at 184 lbs. I dove right into the WW KoolAid and never got out until we moved to Florida in the beginning of 2017.

    All this time never blew the WW GW + 2lbs. But I did do a WW WI a few years ago at 186lbs right on the nose.

    Prior to 2005 I lost 30lbs. and plateaued In 2005 joined WW lost 80lbs. and keep most of off until SP's came about now gained 60 lbs. and struggling.

    Joined 11/1/2006 1 week after a heart attack ultimatly lost 50 pounds in fits and starts. never made it to Goal, but never stopped going to WW either. Still planning for this to be the year!

    Re-started 9/2/2011 for real. Been working on it since. Got below 230 almost 5 yrs. ago, then slid back to the 245 range. Planning for a better year in 2019.

    I joined WW in the fall of 2006 I reached "goal" end of May 2008 and lifetime 6 weeks later. I joined the LTL boards somewhere along the way before reaching goal I think. I am still working at it.

    Each day is a new decision. I think we've all known or read about the people who swear their lost weight is "gone forever", but somehow they found it again. No such proclamation from me. I don't want to eat my words... B)

    It was 10 years ago that I joined WW! Over the holidays we bought a Wii for the kids, and when I stepped on the balance board, it called me "obese." That was a big eye-opener for me because I knew I was overweight, but I didn't realize how overweight I was!

    I signed up for an at-work WW meeting, and attended the first one on January 6, 2009.

    So, yeah, WW/losing weight was a New Year's resolution for me.



    On a related note, I don't typically make New Year's resolutions, but this year I again made a three-point resolution:

    1) Get my weight back down to my personal target (though I am currently under my official WW goal). For the first time in 9.5 years, I measured a weight over my WW goal (though, to be fair, I was away on vacation and not using my normal home scale; nevertheless, if I wasn't *really* overweight, I was pretty darn close!).

    2) Start running again (via restarting the Couch-to-5K program). I've been having a lot of nagging pains and things each time I restart running. As such, I thought I'd force myself to take it slow this time.

    3) Cut down on my alcohol intake to Shabbat-only. This will probably be a big challenge, as alcohol has become a real habit for me.

    If I can do these three things, I think I'd be making huge progress on my health!

    Hats off, Steve! Congratulations on making a healthier you a priority for a decade now! I'd say "good luck", but we know luck really has nothing to do with it.

    Started for the first time back in 2000 and lost 100 lbs. I eventually regained it and did it again in 2007-8. I restarted after a heart procedure in 2012 and was doing well till last year when depression and emotional eating blessed me with 50lbs. Back at it now though the holidays left me limping a bit.
