We meet here to explore, share, celebrate, and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Thread starters for January are below:

Tuesday - whathapnd (Emmie)
Wednesday - myallforjcbill (Bill)
Thursday - gadgetgirl (Regina)

Today's Topic: Begin With The End In Mind

So . . . it's the first day of the new year. Happy 2019 GOAD!!

Without getting into the nitty-gritty details of resolutions, describe what you hope to say about the type of year you had at the END of 2019. I'm going to put a note in my calendar to re-post in late December.

Bonus Question: Did you stay up until midnight to ring in the New Year?

What I really want in 2019 is to be deliberate with how I spend my time. Because of my mother's health issues, I've spent a lot of time the last five years reacting to one crisis or another. I've also spent a lot of time out of town caretaking.

At the end of the year, I'd like to say,:

    1) I didn't waste a lot of time in 2019
    2) I developed a couple of good habits related to my health
    3) I re-connected with some old friends and deepened existing relationships
    4) I'm happier and healthier at the end of the year than at the beginning

Bonus Question: We rang in the new year and stayed up way too late!

At the end of the year, I'd like to say:

    1) I'm back to my personal weight goal
    2) I feel more secure in my employment situation
    3) I rode a 300K
    4) I added another 100+ miles towards completion of segment hiking the Ice Age Trail

Bonus Question: I believe that the last time I was awake to see the New Year come in was 2000 when my DH was stuck at work monitoring the computer systems. Last night I was in bed by 8:00pm, my typical and preferred bedtime!

I'm aiming for my goal, which is 220# at meeting weigh-in. (I always wear my sneakers for weigh-in, so have them in my bag o' tricks).
TOL and I were in be around 11. Scheduled to sing at Mass at 10AM, so needed sleep.

t the type of year you had at the END of 2019.

That my health issues discovered in 2018 have been resolved to my better health.
That I get back to trying new things and enjoy getting out more.

Bonus, Up watching Mindless TV NYE. Saw Times Square and heard Sinatra’s New York, New York a good way to see in the new year.

In 2019, I'd like to say:

1). I read, played, enjoyed the kids, grandkids, and friends, moved,
& accomplished more! That i was in the moment.

2). Conversely, that i wasted less time, esp on TV, computer & phone.

3). That I'm back to the comfortable weight that I saw in 2015.

4). And, after a couple really rough years, I'd like to say, Wow! that was a great year!

Bonus:. Stayed up for a NY toast, watched the ball drop, and saw some fireworks, then off to bed! Way past my bedtime!
