Hello! January will be my 11th month with UAC. I consider myself very active and health concious, even have tracked for years on MFP. But it wasn't until I joined UAC that I was really able to pinpoint bad habits and form healthy ones. Thanks to the daily habits from this group, I was able to finally get the scale moving again
I don't expect to make the winner's circle for January:
- I'm recovering from a knee surgery, and have been told not to exercise for 4-6 weeks. I hope I can walk within the next week at least!
- At the end of January, (if recovery allows) I will be offline for a cruise so I can't track (attending with cruise staff, so I'll be hard at work, not gorging on food lol)
Letting the group know so I don't appear MIA or flaky. I'm joining regardless, because it's become a staple in my daily life that keeps me on track. I'll be setting other goals for myself and will do all I can. Looking forward to getting well and healthier in 2019!9 -

I'm ready for this challenge!
I lost 90lbs and maintained it for 2 years, only to lose my healthy lifestyle grove to a stressful job. I gained 30lbs back and was completely out of shape. I'm back and ready to get my life back, Im 5 lbs down and loking to lose 25lbs more. Let's go!8 -
I All, this will be my third month joining the UAC. During November (my first attempt), I left the challenge and went off track when family came to visit. During December I was successful; kept up with the challenge even when family came to visit again. I would like to stick with it again for January. I am a busy mom of four; 5-7 pounds from my goal weight. Happy new year to everyone; looking forward to seeing you in the group this month.5

Hello!
My name is Kelly, and I'm in my 30s with 2 kids. We're pretty active in the summer, but these cold months just don't have the same activity level. I really struggle in the winter, so a little extra kick in the pants is required.
This is my first UAC, I'm hoping that this helps me stay on track and build up some healthy habits that I have lost. And hopefully I'll get those a little sooner than spring!

I just joined MyFitnessPal yesterday, and I am still learning how to move around the site. I saw the link for this in one of the message board posts and knew that I needed to join. Hello everyone!
My name is John and I'm back after a long time away. This is my third UAC, but my previous two were July and August of 2017. During those months, I ended up getting myself down to the lowest weight I've been in my adult life, but I still wasn't where I wanted to be in terms of fitness, so I shifted gears a little bit.
In 2018, I ran some personal record race times, a 43:44 10K in June and a 20:24 5K in November. Last month, I had my remaining wisdom teeth pulled and have just now gotten back to training. My fitness dropped remarkably in that short time off (as measured by the running pace at which I reach a threshold heart rate).
I'm happy with my weight, so my calorie goal is set to maintenance. What I need the most is consistency in logging and that's what brings me back to the group.

My Name is Heevenlee. I have been at this weight loss and health thing a while now. I have type 1 diabeties as well as cerebal pausy right side bascally can;t use my right hand spelling is a little off just an fyi as I type with one hand. This year has been the worse for me I have an operation that keep me out of the loop and gained most of my weight back sadly. I am hopping that this challange will help me get back to where I used to be. I am a stay at home wife and we have 3 amazing doggie babies. The last part of the year was just chaos in my life so I took a break from here, but I'm back! I've been maintaining my weight for a few years now so I know I can relax my focus from the nutrition and logging for a period and not have things get out of hand. My training stays regular because I love Jiu Jitsu and my job is active, so even without getting to gym as often as I want, I'm still burning enough to handle a not necessarily ideal diet.
However, this is the year when I get to save my friend's life by giving him one of my kidneys so I'm going to be out of training for 1-2 months (hopefully not longer) and I need to be in the best shape to recover quicker. Surgery will be March or April so I have time to tighten up on the areas that slipped during the crazy season!
I had loads of fun and have the tan to prove it! The visitors start leaving for home tomorrow so the beaches become our own and I tried surfing on Sat so now want to play some more...
Loving my summer even if I work almost every day! We are hand raising a baby seal who sadly didn't get back to mom, so work involves cuddling her often!5 -
Hello all! I decided to join this accountability group because I have gotten a little complacent the past couple of months and have kind of waffled around the same weight/body fat % area. In the past 2 years, I have lost about 110 pounds (from 293-low to mid 180s) and about 30% body fat (from over 40% to now about 13-14%).
At 15%+ body fat, I could be inconsistent on hitting my calorie goals/workouts at times and still lose weight and fat. I have found that my margin for error is much less now that my body fat is lower. My goal is to get to 10-11% body fat and then bulk at that point to gain more muscle. I'm not so much worried about the number on the scale (but math tells me I need to get to around 172 or so to hit my target body fat goal).
I'm hoping this group and the daily posting will help me tighten up the reins a little more to help me push through those last few bf% points. I also want to be able to encourage/help others who are trying to make a similar journey that I have undertaken in the past 2 years. It seems like a goal is so very far away when you have a lot to lose, but trust me, if I can do it, anyone can.
I have an open diary and am willing to discuss anything related to my ongoing journey and will accept any and all as friends, so feel free to add me.

@bisonpitcher , how does one measure body fat? I am closing in on my maintenance zone, and will soon have to give extra attention to to strengthening / muscle toning rather than just cardio burn (mostly jogging on my mini-trampoline these days, but have a long history of all kinds of dance, so very good inner body-location-in-space sense, and am very aware of the importance of form / "feeling" the work in the right place.)

Hi y'all, I'm 38 mum of 2, came for the accountability, staying for the support! Moderately active in NZ with appalling weather, 2nd only to the Netherlands. So I mostly hit the gym. Get outside for a cycle or walk when I can. I have Type 2 Diabetes, trying to kick that with WFPB eating. Transitioning at present.

Hi, this is my first time joining a challenge. I'm 25 and I need to shed a 100lbs. I hate the feeling of being overweight and instead of being miserable about it, I;m trying to change my lifestyle.
I lost around 10 kg a few years back with this nutrionist helping me but it turned out to be crash dieting and i gained triple the amount once I couldn't follow that strict regime anymore.
I;m hoping that signing up for this challenge will help me create a better and healthier lifestyle for me (and let me fit into a size 10 or 12)5 -

I’m 53, doing keto and alternate day fasting. Have lost 25kg so far in seven months, 10-15 more to go (depending on how brave I am).
I’ve been type 2 diabetic since the birth of our daughter 15 years ago, with all of the other metabolic conditions that go hand in hand with insulin resistance and obesity. So working hard to reverse insulin resistance as I burn weight.
I don’t log food. When I eat, it’s low carb, under 20g a day, enough protein, fat to satiety.
Hopefully that’s not going to push the group’s rules too much4 -

There is a first time for everything though and so I hope this is it. Good luck everyone. Even though I keep failing, the challenge is really helping me stay motivated.2

Hi there all, my first time here with the challenge, just started MFP back up after a long break. I am 30 years old, married, I have two kids one is 2 and one is 4, I am medically retired from the army, stay at home dad and I have a strong willpower (when I put my mind to it). I almost made it to my goal last time I was on MFP but then went in for my back surgery and never really got back on the right track. Now I am back as close to 100% as I can be and I am ready to get after it. DISCIPLINE is what will get me to my finish line and DISCIPLINE is what will keep me on the right path once my goals have been met.

Hi all, saw the link in one of the message boards and thought this challenge seemed like something I could use. Have about 30lb I'd like to lose before getting married next year, but I am mostly interested in forming healthy habits rather than just looking at the number on the scale.
I've actually given myself my maintenance calorie target in MFP for the moment, while I focus on the habit of tracking and logging food. Once I'm more aware of what I'm eating, I can start making changes. And hopefully the accountability of tracking food will help me naturally start to make better choices.6 -

Don't feel like a failure! I've been with UAC since last February...I've only made the circle once. I don't feel like failure, because I've seen SO many positive changes and weight loss progress as a direct result of the challenge. Notably, that one month where I was in the circle, i saw the biggest weight loss. So it's the target goal I keep aiming for, but even when I've fallen short I've done well.3 -

Hi everyone! This is my first time joining a challenge of any kind. Back in 2011 I lost 150 lbs using MFP but unhealthily. I developed a severe eating disorder and have worked hard for several years to get past it... Unfortunately, I learned how to stop purging but not how to stop binging under stress. And I went through a ton of stress from 2014-2017! I gained 200 lbs in just 3 years! Yikes. Anyway, now I'm back and ready to try this the healthy way. 2lbs a week deficit, no bingeing, no over-exercising, no purging!
A little more about me as a person: I'm 24 years old, just graduated college with a 4.0 GPA and a degree in geography, and will be interning with a local city GIS department for the next few months! I have two cats, three brothers, and the best pair of parents a gal could ask for.
Looking forward to start this challenge with you all!7
