Got on the recumbent bike for 60 mins and 14.0 miles. Makes me happy when I'm done...not so much while I'm doing it tho!
Chris0 -
Your old favorite! The bike! Nice job Chris.
I hope my back feels better so I can do some of these Chris!
Shell0 -
What happened to your back, Shelley? Oh, man! Whatever it is, I hope it clears up soon.
Going to get on the bike again today.yeah, maybe!
Chris1 -
Hope you did get on that bike again Chris. I was exercising. Doing some barbell standing hip extensions. I was on my last set of 15 with around 105 pounds. I say around since I am assuming the bar weighs only 45 pounds. Could be off a little.
I had done 3 sets already. So when I got to number 12 my back suddenly started to really hurt. Was all I could do to rack the bar. It was not the first time I lifted that weight during this particular exercise. Just the first time this ever happened. My back has been popping and starting to feel better. Still having trouble with walking and standing. I have some muscle relaxers and they are really helping when I can take them. No can do on duty! I went home yesterday after the gym and did not work.
Shelley1 -
No bike for me today. Total rest!!
I hope you get better, Shelley.
chris0 -
thanks Chris. Hope you can get on the bike again soon.

Saturday
Recumbent bike - 30 minutes 6.68 miles
Arm toning - 15 minutes this was a U-tube video
Going to start posting exercise everyday. I need accountability. Will be on the bike everyday and add strength/toning exercises. Will work on the challenge today.
Since I don’t know how long we will be furloughed I need to take advantage and work on me. Focus and discipline!

Chris1 -
Thanks Paula!
Chris I did the reading part. It was great. Now my fingers are buff. Glad you used your bike again.
Shell1 -
Kathy my daughter is in the same boat as you. I have lots of mixed feelings. But feel bad for those who will have a hard time over this.
Glad you are using the time wisely!

Recumbent - 40 minutes - 9.02 miles
I appalled by this shutdown as I was about the others. They are simply not necessary we are supposed to have a budget in place by October 1 of each year and this hasn’t happened since 1998. Politics is making this process impossible and in the meantime innocent families suffer. I’m fortunate that I’m in a position that financially I can survive this...at least in the short term. But I know many lower graded Feds who will not. As well as contractors that work for the government who will not get back pay. Also what about those 350,000 “essentials” who have been forced to work w/o pay since December 21st. All because of a “wall” that is unnecessary at least in my opinion as well as many others. Many reports indicate upgraded technology and additional personnel is what’s needed.
Also, the appropriation bills for most of the other agencies could be passed and they could continue to negotiate on the border security and immigration issue.
These issues seeem to be about “winning” with no regard how this is effecting Fed workers and their families Just my two cents. Hoping this ends soon.
Really hating politics...
Kathy3 -
I apologize if I’ve offended anyone with the post above. Probably not the forum for it and will not post politics again...just feeling a certain way this morning.
Sorry...
Kathy3 -
I agree with you totally, Kathy. The thing is that according to a report I read, the problem is the airports and the coastline not the border between Mexico and the US. What about the border btw Canada and us? Anyway, Kathy, you are right about "winning" because everybody's ego is too big and needs to get out of the way. My opinion...just sayin'.
Later, my friends.
Chris0 -
Kathy,
So nice to hear your voice. I used to think that "reason" would win out. Now I wonder how anybody can get away with stuff that is so clearly to me completely wrong, ridiculous, farcical, bullying, and so very obviously absolutely transparently and monumentally STUPID.
My two cents.

Kathy I for one like hearing others opinions. They may or may not be mine. I might change my mind when I have more information. We looked up where a wall would be on the map. That would be a huge undertaking. We need something. I just don't think a wall would be feasible. And we need to protect those who are there to protect our country. I am really confused as to what we need and don't need. We need a lot more negotiation and a committee to look into more options. And you can talk politics here anytime you want. We are all open minded folks.
But get them folks back to work so they can make a living! And stop the political bullying!
Shell0 -
Chris - you are absolutely right. I’ve read the same thing about where the real issue is Re: immigration. But anyway...moving on.
Recumbent- 45 minutes- 11.0 miles
Plank - 30 secs
Completed the arms exercises in the challenge above - 3 sets
Going to read for a while before turning in early. I need to pick up my parents at 5:30 am for my father’s lab tests

Good job, Kathy!!
Worked out w/our trainer yesterday. Killer session.
Getting on the bike after Ronan is picked up by SIL.
Chris1 -
Walked yesterday for the first time in 2-3 weeks. Up and down hills. Open sky above. Fresh air in my lungs. Music in my ears. It was glorious.
Paula1 -
Well my back is keeping me from doing much. Lots of stretches and walks. Oh and Barney training!
Shelley0 -
My legs hurt today. Nice...
paula0 -
Shelley, it sounds like Barney is gonna be a great puppy!
Good job, Paula!
I miss walking so much. Going to see the foot doc again about my ankle. Worked w/our trainer yesterday. Whined a lot, but it was like she didn't hear me! bwahahah! Then got on the bike for 16 miles in 70 mins watching 1 1/2 episodes of Bauch...out of order...spoiled things but then went back to where I was supposed to be. ugh!
Going to get on the bike again today.
Chris1 -
Chris, I wish we could make your pain go away!
Let's try this...
Bibbity bobbity ankles behave!
Pain disappear with a wand and a wave....!!
Striding round town, no trespassing no way!
Free to be Chris, strong, kind and brave!

By the way, a friend is a docent at Ano Nuevo Beach. She's set up after-hour tour for a bunch of us on Sunday. A three mile walk mid the elephant seals (during mating season). Exercise is at its best when it's just having fun. Should be such a blast!!
paula1 -
Paula, you are the best!! That is great! I hope it works. Your brunch and walk will be so much fun! Just watch where you are stepping. Elephant seals during mating season are pretty fierce.
146.2 this morning at 5:00. I thought maybe an entire pound loss at this stage of the game was a bit much. I'll just keep at it.
Chris1 -
Chef Ronan!
So serious about his cooking.

Wow Chris, he is so grown up now. No cast and doing his thing. Love the pants and shoes.
Paula you need to be careful around them big boys. Just remember, you only have to outrun the slowest person. Seriously, have fun and stay safe.
Walked on the treadmill and then the stair climber. Back is much better. Barney had a bad day yesterday. We are backing off a bit for awhile. I do not want him stressed. He is so smart and loving. He just needs to be that way with everyone.
Shell0 -
Thanks, Shelley. He does have a splint on his thumb. The end of his thumb isn't quite straight. Time will tell if he has to have another surgery. He is really terrific about it. tho. He would not look up at all...even when I asked if he'd say "HI!" to his mom...I got a big "No." Glad your back is getting better.
Chris1 -
Going to see our trainer tomorrow. She is challenging me in a good way. Hope this keeps me strong for a long while.
Chris1 -
I hope his thumb straightens out on its own. But I am also grateful for all the wise people out there that have given their lives to making others better. Such dedication! Hope you had a great time with your trainer.
I worked out with weights again yesterday. Back feels like it is totally healed now. Still not lifting heavy though.
