    I love you guys!

Got to sleep in until 8:00 this morning. Rough night. 145.6 at 8:00. No real plans for today. We might get R&B for a little bit. DDD&SIL have a friend in the hospital they are going to visit, and they don't want to take the baby to germ city...

OK so I totally did not post my introduction in the right place for you guys. Here it is an a little bit about my story. Hope everybody’s having a great Saturday!

    ———————————————————————————————-

My first time posting here so introducing myself. Paula is an old buddy of mine and we've been on this weight loss journey together for a bunch of years.

So my story. I'm 48 years old and live in Pennsylvania. Snowy Pennsylvania right now :-) I have a husband and a 13 year old daughter and 3 cats. Also moved my 70 year old mom in with us about six months ago( just supported her through a new hip she's doing great!) For work I'm a global customer care leader for a chemical company. We clean water. My job allows me to travel a bunch around the globe which is cool but also really challenging when you're talking about weight loss. Pretty challenging job with pretty long hours. And I just love to eat of course otherwise I wouldn't be on this board :-)

I had gastric sleeve surgery five years ago right around the same time that Paula did. At the time I lost about a hundred and fifty pounds within a year. Was in the best shape of my life :-) I was doing really low carb. Just cut out a lot in my diet and maintained it for quite a while. I've gotten off track and have gained about 40 lb back. Medically the past year-and-a-half have not been the easiest. Went through early menopause, had a partial hysterectomy, had breast surgery that turned out to be non-cancerous, and had skin cancer on my face.

So I'm pretty clear on some key areas where I went wrong. Got out of whack with not being able to exercise due to the various surgeries, let carbs carbs creep in somewhat although I still eat fairly low carb. Less than 30 net carbs a day. But maybe that's still too high? just started increasing the quantities and quite frankly started drinking too much wine :-) I blame it on the travel to Europe! But it really became more of a daily get done work and have one glass that turned into two, three, glasses :-)

So now I'm trying Keto. I really like keto and I feel a lot better eating this way, but I'm just not losing the weight I thought I would lose. I watch people losing huge amounts of weight and that's just not me. I know they tell you you don't have to count calories, but that just doesn't seem to work for me. When I don't count calories and eat the amount of fat that I think my body wants I end up around 1600 calories and I just don't lose a thing. I really feel like I need to stay more around 1,200 or less but again then I'm counting. I've dabbled with intermittent fasting with a bulletproof coffee in the morning to get me through. And I love how it makes me feel, but again I would expect that I would lose more weight. I am exercising at least four days a week and I'm trying to get that back to the six I used to do. Started to get back into weights which I love doing but I slacked off on. I miss my arms :-)

So really happy to be joining this group that Paula speaks so highly of. Would love advice, support, success is along with you gals! Right now I weigh 191 lb I would love to get down to 160 somewhere this summer. My sweet spot before was between 152 and 155.
    :)

Happy March and looking forward to being a lesser version of myself by the end of it! I hope to learn a lot from you all and offer my support as well!

Hi Karen! Glad your mom is recovering well. Your job sounds so interesting! My DH was in treated water for 30+ years! We are both retired now. I was in payroll for 10 years before I retired. I paid teachers and administrators at three community colleges.

It sounds like you are doing well after your surgeries. Hope your face is okay. They all sound pretty awful. Sorry about the early menopause.

My weight loss journey started a long time ago. I was 5'7" tall and 130ish when I went back to college at 48 (or something like that). Spent six years in school and gained 10 pounds for each year. I couldn't do school and my diet at the same time. Graduated at 192.2. I lost the 60 pounds going to WW with a couple of friends but when WW started changing everything every year, and even though I was a Life Time member, I lost interest. Then I found Shelley and then we found Paula and then Kathy and now you. Welcome to our party!!

I've gained 10 pounds with menopause and it has been pretty hard getting rid of it. Now, I am 5"5" tall...thank you arthritis... and trying to get back to walking. DH and I were doing 5 miles five days a week when I managed to mess up my foot...twice...which has side-lined me for a long time. My foot is almost back to normal and we are starting to walk a little bit at a time. We went out today in the light rain and slight cold breeze for a half mile. :D This past Wednesday I had a pain shot in my spine that has really helped the pain in my back and legs, but my feet are really numb. Weird.

I've been on every diet out there since my early 20's when my first husband asked..."What happened to your waist? It's as big as your hips." Ha! He's gone! But I've learned that I have to count calories and watch what I eat. Everyone is different, tho.

Karen is my oldest friend on MFP. :) We've been through everything together and now we're both trying to cut back drinking! Love my whisky.

    ....hmmmm.... whiskey....

Got a msg from Shelley. She's been under the weather and recovering. She'll be back when she's felling better.

    ooh...I remember whiskey! ...and beer...and beer. :o

Haven't really drank since college. Couldn't study...read...write...and then remember the next day. I used to celebrate b'days and New Year's with a beer, but since DH quit drinking because of his vertigo (his reaction to too much salt that is in everything), I haven't drank in a long time. We did have some great fun when we were drinking tho!! :D

145.2 this morning at 6:30. I had popcorn last night. I pop the 100 cal bags. One kettle corn and one light butter...mix them tog and that's my dessert! And that's plenty.

We should be getting the boys this afternoon but haven't heard yet. Ronan's favorite youtube guy out there is named Blippi...found a stuffed Blippi, toddler shirt with bow tie and suspenders printed on it, hat and glasses that Blippi wears...hope Ronan is surprised. Should be here Tuesday. I'll try to get a picture to post.

    How's everyone's Sunday going?

How often do you gals weigh yourself? Curious....I used to weigh daily, but then I think I became a slave to the scale...so moved to weekly.

145.4 this morning at 5:00. No bad...yet...since I stuffed myself to the painful point yesterday. I have no explanation except for being s----d (stupid...a word my kids were not allowed to say). It should show up tomorrow or the next day.

Karen, I weigh every morning...it helps me.

We are picking up the boys in a bit. Hoping for a warmer day. Would like to take them for a walk around the park. We'll see.

Hello Karen! Any friend of Paula's is welcome here. I weigh most days. It helps me keep the weight from sneaking up on me. I also like weight lifting. It makes me feel empowered to lift heavy metal objects. I am also a pet lover. We have 1 cat now. She is a rag doll named SaraPee and her human is my husband. She has him wrapped around her paws. We have 4 dogs. In order of age, Cooper, Joey, Barney and Libby. And way to many fish.

Chris I am finally feeling better today. Thanks for starting March up for us. I should have taken time off last week. We were so short at work I just couldn't though. We were in the middle of of a trial and a high profile sentencing. Early this morning we had a shooting in our hospital. People are crazy!

Paula I have visions of you walking around your home in a dress sipping on a whiskey, neat! Hahaha

    Night all,

Shelley!!! I'm so glad to see you, and I'm so happy you are better and all!!

145.6 this morning at 5:00. I hurt a lot yesterday. **sigh**

Picking up the boys in a bit. Ronan loves this little kitty youtube so yesterday I got him this cool Kitty Magazine!! Never seen one before. Has all kinds of cats. Beautiful wilds cats and domestic cats. DH explains each page to him. Pretty fun!

X-ray appt and blood draw today. Everything should be fine. Doc is just making sure.

    Later my friends.

I am lucky to have a gym at work I can use....but I make excuses a lot to not go because my days are busy! BOO! Today...no excuses. Did some good weights, and cardio....there were a ton of us girls back there! Felt good to push hard ;)

Karen we have a gym at our work place also. A coworker and I go 3 days a week for weight lifting. I do cardio on my own. If it was not for her I am sure I would not go as often, she says the same thing.

Chris there are these little munchkin cats I love. Is there one in Ronan's book? Nice weight!

Tonight I will be going to my granddaughters concert. She plays a viola. I hate to go on work nights. But I generally enjoy myself once I am there. Kind of like the gym!

I weigh mostly daily, Karen. I like seeing it go down, or stay down. When it goes up, I usually know why and it's just a challenge to me to take corrective measures.

147.5 today. Still struggling to get down into the low 140's. Feeling a bit depressed lately, probably a bit of lonely self-pity mixed with seasonal affective disorder - could use a couple sunny days.

Enjoy your BFF's, SO's, boys and kitties, all. :)

I was pretty frustrated yesterday. I just don’t seem to be dropping all this weight like everybody else with keto :-) and I’m fairly hungry. And I’m meeting my macros most days :-) and I’ve barely had any wine for a month! LOL! That should count for an immediate 5 pounds. Mamma Mia :-) but I keep trying. So weight today 191.2. Down a little bit from where I was a few days ago.

176.6 this morning. I little frustrated. I’ve been trying to figure out why the weight is not coming off and Iive even gained a couple of pounds. I think it may be my new diabetes medicine. The doctor changed one of my meds 2 weeks ago. My blood sugar red is are good so I’m going have to work harder at getting this weight off. I don’t want to change meds again.

    Shelley glad you're better...missed you.

Kathy I missed being here. I am glad I am feeling better. A little dizzy at times, dehydrated I think. With diabetes it is even more important for you to take care of yourself. I know you have this. My sister is diabetic. She does not take good care of herself. It is frustrating. :'( Keep at is Kathy. B)

I did not weigh myself this morning. Got up late and hopped in the shower before I thought of it. Watched my granddaughters concert last night. The kids all did great. The 8th graders did Poker Face. Their teacher said she did not know the words to it but thought she would pass on it. It was well done and I would have known what song it was even if she had not introduced the song.

@kjs1228 make sure you're getting enough fats to satiate your hunger, Karen. You'll have to cut something else out to make up for the calories. But it really helps. Then when your hungers gone, just eat less, it's easy then. :)

Happy Friday Ladies and happy International women's day!

Have fun with the iPhone Paula. I just got a new one for work and Pinterest was a great help. It's amazing technology :-)

So busy weekend ahead. My Bella has her school musical opening up tonight which is Mary Poppins jr. :-) what's not to love about Mary Poppins? So she has a show tonight and two shows tomorrow. She's quite excited! Need to make rice crispy treats today for the concession sales, good things sweets don't turn me on anymore. If only booze was the same way lol! I have actually really really cut out alcohol in the past month. Maybe I've had two or three glasses of wine. Doing everything I can to try to get these pounds off! But miss my wine!

189.4 today... directionally correct. I took your advice Paula and tried to figure out additional fats yesterday and a little less on the protein. I think it was a good combination. Wasn't hungry later in the evening which tends to be my issue. And I fought through the habit of eating so stopped eating at 6 which felt good.

Have my mother-in-law coming up tomorrow to see Bella show. Planning on making some sort of nice lunch. She's a toughie... an energy sucker which usually leads me depleted. She speaks about herself so poorly calling herself fat, which I told her she's not allowed to do in my house, certainly not around my Bella who has her own struggles with weight. We dont call each other or ourselves names where I live :-) so hoping it's a more positive trip than the last time. Looking to find a good healthy recipe maybe some soup and something else.

Okay well better get myself moving and head to the gym before work starts. Hope everybody has an awesome day!

145.5 today - bout the same as yesterday.

Skipping work for a funeral. Putting on my most colorful clothes. My friends mother lost her life to pancreatic cancer after a two year fight. Asked that people wear color for her.

Had the boys this morning...worked out w/our trainer at noon...got Ronan back at 3:30...he is playing hard w/Grandpa!!

Gotta go now...DDD is here to take Ronan home.
