We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Thread starters for February are below:

Tuesday - gadgetgirlIL (Regina)
Wednesday - minimyzeme (Kim)

Today's Topic: Springtime Hopes

For many, Springtime is a time of hope. Applying that concept to our journey here on GoaD, what do you hope to accomplish now that Spring is rolling around?

Diet goal is to lose 1.5 lbs a week if not 2. Got to get serious about getting this fat back off. That's my main concern at this point. After Ash Wednesday last night I'm considering some type of fasting till Easter. We'll see how that goes.

Hoping that the weather finally warms up and the ice melts so that I can do more bike riding outdoors. We are supposed to finally get above freezing tomorrow. Of course we have another crazy weather system coming in for the weekend. My only time to ride, Sunday, is supposed to be very high winds. Sigh.

Consistent weight loss and exercise. Weather doesn't have much to do with it though for me

    H happiness
    O optimistic
    P peace
    E exercise

Been struggling with medical/ dental issues that has caused me some mental anguish. Every issue is somehow related to getting older.
Nothing is major life threatening but it seems to be something else always causing me worries.

We have long, cold winters in MN, and I'd be lying my *kitten* off if I said it doesn't affect my mood and behaviors. Cabin fever is for real. With spring evident on the calendar - if not in real time - I look forward to brighter days, stepped-up activity, and finding some of the motivation I've been lacking.

I've started back on the road to weight-loss so I'd like to be consistent through the spring. I have a lot of work-related travel, and that's always a big challenge for me, so I want to keep working on being able to eat moderately even during travel. Additionally, I just finished the Couch-to-5k program, so I want to get into a consistent running pattern.

IF it ever warms up, I plan to start getting back to the gym, for some treadmill time. Cant get my but out the door for that when it's so cold.

    <-- jealous.

Monday was the one-year anniversary of my last running workout. I hope to get back to running, but disc bulge and stenosis made it painful the last time I tried C25K. My plan now is to lose the weight first and work on strength and flexibility.

Looking forward to fishing and spending more time outdoors. I'm sick of winter.

This is the year of C25K for me. My preference is to do my training outside so I'm hoping to get a good start on that program this Spring. We have two sunny days and relatively warm days in a row forecast this weekend. It might just be the time to head to the running store for decent shoes...
