OK...so I expected this to be way worse today. It was much higher on Friday so there's been a reduction from that. Services were great. Loved seeing all of the family. So much love and happiness among everyone. I wasn't quite as hungry and the food from the caterers was good, but not the same and so I really didn't eat much there. What I did eat was not the healthiest.
Mom's not doing well. I'll probably be heading back there this weekend - though I'm really hoping for three weeks. She did get to meet Rhea and we took some pictures of them together. Loved having my son and his family with us. Auntie LOVED having them there. Rhea was so good during all of the services. She even sang with us during one of the songs. Travel has kicked my behind
Sheesh - so happy you're working with your trainer. I love to hear the pain and torture she puts you through. Could it be the carbs and sugar from the southwestern food? Have fun in Cali with the grandkids.
Sarah - how's the walking going and intake?

Just quickly checking in when I logged on to put in my food. As you have probably guessed, I am putting in very long hours at my desk. I'm trying to watch intake and make good choices under these circumstance, but we will see. I did take Saturday off and most of Sunday, although I got antsy and put in a couple of hours work on Sunday night. Too bad I'm salaried. LOL
On Saturday, we drove with friends down to a neighborhood in Chevy Chase that is known for its streets lined with cherry trees. It's a great way to enjoy the blossoms without dealing with as large a crowd as you encounter downtown. It was still pretty crowded though. But the weather was great and then we enjoyed a leisurely late lunch with our friends. We walked more than 3 miles and hubby's neck pain (which usually reacts badly to walking) stayed at bay pretty much. Tomorrow he is going for an MRI. The last two cortisone shots had little effect, so the doc says it's time to take a look-see and perhaps a surgical consult.
Well, back at it. Lois, I hope your Mom's situation improves so you can get a short break from all the travel. Sheesh, thanks for the reminder about arms. I avoid short-sleeved shirts, but you can't swim in long sleeves.

Well that settles it! I did have a post that vanished. I mentioned on April 4 that I thought I had posted the day before and didn't see that post. Well April 3 was my weigh-in day, and I'm pretty sure I did post that, but when I went back to get that weight for today's post, it's not there. So I'm posting for week before last and today.

I'm pretty pleased with that considering that I have been working long hours and not getting in much walking time. Last night, I ran errands after work and then we watched the ballgame. It started at 7:05, but when you tape it, you can watch while it continues. Anyway, it turned out to be an exciting game with an extra inning and I didn't realize how late it was getting, and it was 11:45 by the time we saw the end. So I had 15 minutes to hop on my treadmill and try to get in a few more steps. And I have to stop letting our kitty, Bella, get in my lap and sleep, because she's so darned cute, I'll sit for a long time without moving.
Today is hubby's MRI and he's so claustrophobic they give him a sedative, so I have to get off work to be his driver. So I have lots to get done before that time. Hope all is well is with everyone.

Well, this proves the adage that if you keep doing the same thing, you get the same results. I think I've subconsciously concluded that I won't make progress until I'm back from Cali.
Sarah, congratulations on the full pound reduction! That's a lot.
I'm sorry about hubby's neck. I hope he can avoid surgery. . mine has had two surgeries on his neck, and the second one did more damage than it helped. Almost everyone I know who has had any king of spinal surgery hasn't had much improvement, I hate to say. In hindsight, we wish we had gotten a second and maybe third opinion before proceeding with the second surgery.
It's hard to believe it's cherry blossom and baseball . . we have winter snow here again today. Wish I could go to a major league game! Go Nats!
Lois, you're a devoted daughter to travel so often for your Mom's and family's sake. I hope things get easier for you, and that you can find time for a little self care . . a walk around the block can do wonders for your body and emotions.
I'm off to Cali early tomorrow. I'll check back Tuesday.0 -
I'm here! But honestly, I feel it's like pulling teeth
Nothing to do with you ladies, but the thought that I honestly haven't really given a crap about myself since my wedding. Is that normal to let yourself go after the wedding? I think it was the stress of it all - selling house, moving into new house, wedding, sick dog, negative work environment, I threw my back out at work in February, hockey, hockey and more hockey.. it was a lot. Our life is slowly starting to get back to normal now, but I really can't seem to get into the groove of giving a crap. I just have to do it. Shawn has been in the same boat as me since we got back from Mexico but he started running again today, so that'll give me the push to get going again.
Married life is great BTW! The same as it was before we were married!
My goal for the next while is to get above my 10,000 steps in a day and move more than I have been.
I haven't forgotten about you ladies. I think about you all the time. You're almost like my guilty conscience lol So I'm here... and I'll try to continue to check back and post more often. I have a bunch to go back and read to see what's been happening with everyone.
I've missed you all!

We’ll. Got a text from sis as I was training a new employee yesterday morning that hospice nurse thought it was going to be soon. I slammed my stuff into my bag sent the employee to another sales office and alerted my boss I was leaving now and not at noon. Six and a half hours later (small bladder and too much water) sisters checked on me (and I believed every time that I wasn’t going to make it. And the prayed for strength to help me not up be selfish and have her wait for me. But she did. I got to hold her hand for almost three hours. She went peacefully with me praying the rosary for her and my oldest sister speaking to her. She is with God, my dad and her first son Ricky. She is at peace. Sadly her internment will not be for a couple of weeks due to Easter weekend so expect more travel and another breakdown for me again.
you ladies are special to me and I wanted to update you. Thank you for all of your support!!!❤️❤️0 -
Oh, my. Lois, I am so sorry. It is so hard to lose people we love. I'm glad you were able to spend those last few hours with her and that she didn't linger for a long time with a poor quality of life. I will be thinking of you many times over the weekend.

Kelly, I am glad that you found some time to check in. Rest assured, we all know about that let down after a big event. It's not an emotional let down, it's just that so much energy goes into something that once it's successfully behind you, it's like you just need to not concentrate on anything for a short time. And that's okay. Just as long as you haven't changed to a diet of bon bons and beer!
Work has been eating me alive, so my steps have been very low. But based on previous campaigns, this too will pass.
Hope Sheesh is having a fine time on her trip to celebrate a birthday.
I will check in again later. Although it's 6:20 p.m. on a Friday, I'm still at my desk.0 -
So sorry for your loss Lois.
Please know that you're in my thoughts.
Bon bons and beer are definitely part of the diet, but at least I'm moving a bit more now. I'll get there eventually.
I hope you got away from your desk and are enjoying the weekend!0 -
I'm frustrated today and hope that just saying so will help me deal. Because I'm having to sit at this desk extra hours, I'm trying to log all my food and watch intake a little more carefully. But I can feel that tightening waistband that says "scale is going up!" I did join an agency-wide fitness challenge that starts next week I think, but I'm not sure if that will make a difference. Activity is about 1/5 of it. The other 4/5's are things like water, sleep, mindfulness, gratitude. I guess they're trying to keep us from killing each other while they work us to death! Grrrrrrrr0
