Potatoes and Dairy

Are potatoes allowed on this? What about dairy? If they are not, can you please explain why not?
Thanks :3

I think it depends on your lifestyle goals. When you do a Whole30, in part it's restrictive to eliminate a lot of the junk from your body. Also, dairy causes inflammation and some folks are affected more than others. I typically follow Primal Blueprint and consume heavy cream, which has a lower insulin response than milk. I occasionally consume feta and goat cheese. If you do consume dairy it should be in a whole, raw form.

I think everyone has their own version, but in general the paleo diet contains little to no dairy. The theory being cavemen didn't go around milking cows, so dairy was not part of our ancester's diet in any large quantity, and definitely not low-fat. Some do butter and cream, others don't. If you are on the paleo diet for auto-immune/inflammatory response, then eliminate dairy in all forms for a couple months, the re-introduce a small portion for a day or two and see if you have a response in within 5 days. If not, you could do small amounts but probably shouldn't do more. If you are not on this for auto-immune/inflammation issues, you could incorporate small amounts of the cream/cheese. GrokRock is right, it should be whole, raw if possible form, and you should look for organic and grass fed cows.
