Good article. It's strange - once I went off the pill at age 50, I never had a period again. I think the Pill actually suppressed my menopause - and if I had gotten off of them earlier, I would have gone through menopause earlier. I did have a few years of migraines and brain fog - and exhaustion. But - now, 3 years into menopause - I haven't gotten a single migraine, and the hot flashes are minimal. I think my biggest complaint is sleep - or lack-there-of. I'd LOVE a full nights' sleep......2

Sabine - I've noticed most of the menopause related groups seem to be rather inactive. I'm wondering why this is....?! We can't be the only women going through perimenopause/menopause......!0

Yup, this sums it up.
"Imagine if you had to white-knuckle your way through the emotional roller coaster of puberty while also handling all the grown-up responsibilities you’ve accumulated since getting your braces off—work, maybe a partner, some kids, aging parents—while also trying to figure out how to find time for yourself and maybe even sleep, occasionally. Add super-fun symptoms like fatigue, hot flashes, sleep disruption, and low libido, and that’s the joy of perimenopause for you. As Mary Ruefle wrote in her essay "Pause": “You are a depressed adolescent who sweats through their clothing and says terrible things to everyone, especially the people they love.”"3 -
Oh sleep - I miss you so!1

Hi! I’m turning 50 in 19 days!! I’m definitely in beginning stages of menopause for the last 6 months. Im the only one of my friends to show symptoms. I’m trying to lose some lbs and deal with feeling not myself more often than not! Looking for friends with similar!5

I went off the pill 2 months ago No sign of periods yet. I have the physical side of ovulation to the pint that I an feel my ovaries swelling, but no period.
If I go like you then I'll be happy. with it No sleep problems here but do recognise the brain fog though that seems to be liften now for the most part.
A few weeks back I felt an increase in hot flushes I thought. But ut wasn't it was a mild fever with a summer flu.
Interestingly I was talking to a friend yesterday (43) and she is showing the first sign of peri-menopause and was telling me all these things that I had seen happening too. I told her to brace herself as she was going to get all types of things she's never sensed before.
She is reading up on peri-menopause now and rightfully stated that it was weird that we know so little about it2 -
^I hope you have an easy transition into menopause as well - best of luck!! Let us know how it goes!0

The Pill does suppress menopause but who wants to go off of it earlier, with the possibility of getting pregnant?0
