We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

Today's Topic: The "would you rather" game!
Let's see if this works. Someone posts a "would you rather" X or Y question (weight-management-relevant). The next person to respond has to answer (preferably with a rationale too) and then posts a new "would you rather question" for the next person to respond to. Let's see how many responses we can generate. You can respond multiple times, provided you don't answer your own question!

Would you rather eat 100 grams (3.5 oz) of french fries or 200 grams (7 oz) of plain chicken breast as part of a meal?0

Of course, it would depend on the moment; but, I'd likely pick the chicken breast.
Would you rather eat a medium orange (131 grams) or drink a cup of orange juice (240ml)?

I would eat the orange as it would take me longer than it would to drink the juice. I also don't find liquid calories to be satisfying.
Would you rather eat an omelete made with 1 whole egg, 1 c egg whites, and a bunch of veggies or have a bowl of oatmeal with a banana on the side.0 -
Definitely the omelette! That sounds like the omelette I used to make when I was really trying to absolutely minimize calorie intake. Now I decided that I prefer an omelette with cheese in it.
Would you rather go a whole week without alcohol or exercise one hour every day?0 -
I would skip the alcohol (done the 40 day "Lenten" fast many times).
Would you rather pay for a "Blue Apron" styled "balanced diet" plan (and prepare it yourself) for a month, or have a month's supply of microwave diet plan meals?

Microwave. Facing the fact that I rarely turn on the stove or oven. Just how it is.
Would you rather have a really yummy lunch for 50% of today’s calories or something just good enough for 25%?0 -
Just good enought for 25%. I am clearly NOT a foodie (thankfully)! I'd generally rather save the points/calories for something later-on.
Would you rather eat something you absolutely don't like, but stay within your planned caloric goal, or completely bomb through your caloric goals for something you really like?0 -
Life's too short to eat food you hate! And I will take the calorie hit for something I really like, especially if there is a long bike ride within the next few days (this time of year, there is!!!).
Would you rather give up a few hours each weekend to cook in bulk so that you have healthy options for work meals that you really like, or would your rather play diet roulette with the offerings of the workplace food options?0 -
I'd much rather pre-cook my weekly meals and feel "settled" that I know what I'm going to eat. In general, one of my greatest stressors is figuring out my food when I'm not in my stable environment (like, when I'm traveling, etc.).
Would you rather be extremely good looking but very overweight, or be extremely fit but very ugly? (I admit this is an "ugly" question)0 -
I'd rather be good looking, but very overweight. You can lose weight, but you can't lose ugly.
Would you rather drink a "light" beer, with less taste, or a regular "full taste" beer?0 -
Sorry but my pallate for beer is not refines enough to tell the differnce! I would probably opt for wine or scotch instead.
Would you rather pay 40$ for a really good bottle of wine and then savor a glass of it over multiple days/ meals because you know how much each sip cost you, or buy a bottle of 4 buck chuck which you and your spouse can finish in a single session0 -

I'd rather have the better wine (and the better beer in the prior question). I don't have a particularly sophisticated palette, but once wine/beer gets too cheap, it really doesn't taste very good and then it's not really worth drinking. I'd probably "supplement" the wine with some bourbon afterwards!
Would you rather (if your spouse were overweight) be the pusher to have your spouse lose weight and take on significant responsibilities for helping her/her to do it (planning meals, cooking, managing the shopping and ensuring only "healthy" foods are available, exercising together, etc.) but with "success" at the end of their getting to healthy weight (with you continuing to be the "driver" of the process), or would you rather let them stay heavy until they decide (or don't decide) to lose weight?0
