Yesterday, one of our team mates posted, "I got to get my enthusiasm back..."
Below is a link to a short article with suggestions to keep or regain motivation to exercise.

I look at my gut and am reminded that I have genetically drawn a short straw and am prone to develop diabetes. I don’t want to be on insulin most of my life. It’s just a matter of when for me and I’m going to do everything in my power to prevent that.
Yes to all three.

For now it is the desire to get back on the Jiu Jitsu mats. I love the sport so that passion is my motivation. I do compete a couple of times per year when I'm not injured and we are always working towards our next belt even though it takes a few years to progress, seeing how you improve really helps with motivation.
Today was good even though I'm super sore from gym and Jiu Jitsu yesterday. I ate well and came out at a good calorie total. Exercise included a rehab session, a short walk with a friend (she is trying to get back into a regular walking routine) and helping with kids class. Did some prep for a couple of aspects of food for the next couple of days so I'm all ready and logged it all as well.

3 x’s yes. 45 minutes of strength and an hour of step aerobics.
What’s my motivation? Lol when I think about it, it’s kind of funny because I respond well to peer pressure. I take classes mostly because left to my own devices I’d probably give up early or take it easy. I also like the structure of having to be there at a certain time. I guess I’ve taken personal motivation out of the equation as much as possible. Luckily I do love working out so getting to the gym isn’t a problem and once I’m there I just do what I’m told.
I do self motivate to go harder because I’m kind of competitive and I want to keep up with the big kids.6 -
I remember how I felt before I started out on this journey, and that’s all the motivation I need. I’m determined not to go back there!!!

Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes
As for exercise motivation...I am definitely NOT a gym person. It helps me to stay motivated with exercise if I am, simultaneously, entertained. In nice weather, I prefer to be outside for exercise with either day trips or walks in the village or nearby parks. I enjoy travel, so many of my exercise segments, particularly in adverse weather conditions, are YouTube videos. I, particularly, enjoy some of the following:
1. Dr. Brandon Foor’s fooryoursuccess (hiking videos – mostly U.S. with many in Utah & Colorado…but also as far away as Australia)
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1hwolWKoCLaNvmzSW3OOtA
2. Tall Skywalker’s Virtual Hikes (several in NW U.S.)
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP2WJOpZQu2BFUqZ6UN5Tfw
3. Amazing Places on our Planet – fantastic imagery without narrative
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYWJ32GJbOgtzU2uHh0OMCQ
4. Dennis Callan travel guide videos
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvW8JzztV3k3W8tohjSNRlw
5. Walk at Home – Leslie Sansone
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVl6ZdslZz2Zj-34bMJFPbg
6. Gilad
https://www.youtube.com/user/giladhawaii
7. 4K Relaxation Channel
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCg72Hd6UZAgPBAUZplnmPMQ
8. For Yoga or more of a relaxed focus, I make use of Melissa West Beginner Yoga videos as I’m definitely a novice.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNzYcdg3bBmC5eHOSQXzisA
The exercises I choose don’t, necessarily follow the video…I make up my own, as needed. The YouTube videos help me keep better track of time expended.5 -
Feeling much better today.
This morning I decided to wear a pair of pants I hadn’t worn in a while. All day long, I kept realizing how baggy they were. It made me realize how much fitter I was even though the number on the scale hasn’t moved much. Definitely made me feel better.
Exercise: 1 hour elliptical and weights
Calories: under even though I want for beers with a friend
Tracked: yes
As for exercise, I like variety. And I like being able to pick depending on my mood. So I make sure I have everything I may want in my gym bag and that I have a variety of options every day to pick from: yoga class, outdoor bike ride, gym session, swimming.
No excuses possible!
Thanks @RangerRickL ;-)6 -

I’m going to say yes to all 3 today.
Exercise was a coupkeeps hours of mall walking, I logged 60 minutes.
For food I did log and though my dinner was an estimate I think it’s probably close.
My motivation for being healthy is my grandchildren. I want to be able to continue doing things with them. We go skating on mondays in winter, have beach days on the summer, and we’re signed up for 4 obstacle races next year5 -
Pass Day #3 for me, still sick. Hopeful for tomorrow though.
@w8goal4life I've only clicked on your first link so far, but I LOVE it! Thank you!
As to staying motivated to exercise, I'm most enthusiastic about exercise when I see performance improvements, and least enthusiastic when I've plateaued, or worse, gone backwards.
I wish I had advice on how to avoid fitness plateaus and setbacks, but all I have learned is how to handle them without too much frustration. Generally, if it's unpleasant because it feels too hard, I make it easier.
Going to have to use that strategy over the next few weeks as my lungs recover from this illness

I actually really enjoy exercise, but not when I'm overweight/obese and constantly stuffed with food. So eating better is actually what motivates me to exercise because when I eat better I feel better and am not so exhausted and bloated5 -
Exercise: 2.5 miles before work (1.5 was running, 1 walking) and a walk around my office for a break
Calorie goal: Ate more than usual (it was a trying day) but still ate less than I burned and net calories were good so yes
Logged every bite

@ConfidentRaven....Wow!! Nice new version of ConfidentRaven...Congratulations!! You are definitely going the right direction!

It sounds pessimistic, but, in part, fear keeps me motivated; I remind myself of the physical and mental downsides of not exercising. But, I also think of the joy I feel in being fit enough to do the things I love.4 -
Yes x3. Exercise was a half hour of crazy running games at the kids program I help out with on Wednesdays. I’m not used to sprinting!
What keeps me motivated is the back aches I get when I get lazy with exercising/strength training. The sore back then affects my sleep which starts a downward spiral. I also choose exercises I enjoy so that I don’t dread workouts.5 -

Yes to all 3. The only thing to keep me motivated to exercise the last few days is this group! Feeling a bit under the weather but I made it through.4

This has to be my first pass day. I logged everything and worked out for 30 minutes, but my daughter and I went out for Thai food tonight, so went a couple hundred calories over my allotment. We had a wonderful visit together though!!!4

Thank you @w8goal4life for the video suggestions! I am always on the lookout for good You Tube workouts, and the Yoga one looks really good. Can’t wait to try it! Thank you!1
