DECEMBER Monthly Challenge

Options
Hello again and also welcome to anyone looking at this and wondering if this is for you, just give it a try!

You can post your weight here and also in the Keto Monthly Challenge Spreadsheet which Nikki updates.

Feel very welcome to join, we usually post our weigh Sundays and use the 'Keto Monthly Challenge Spreadsheet' also in 'Announcements' to track weight.

We use this thread to encourage each other and to add our weight as well if we want to and generally chat!

It's fun and it's been working and we've lost a shed load of weight between us. It seems to keep us going and even if we go up occasionally (and who doesn't!) we get back to it and continue the journey.

DECEMBER

This is, without a doubt, my biggest challenge month of the year. We have officially entered the eating season in my family. There will be events, occasions and celebrations from now until New Years that will tempt me to stray from keto. Of course, I’m posting this on the biggest eating day of the year, Thanksgiving Day.

So, I won’t be setting any unrealistic goals for December. I will be in keto survival mode to finish out 2019. I hope to hang out at or below my present scale reading while holding onto the non-scale victories keto has given me in 2019. Looking forward to hearing how all of you handle the eating season.

I definitely would like to join! I have been very very bad at staying on track! I would like to rededicate to eating a Keto diet.

Hi. I'm jumping aboard to keep recording this month. This will be my 3rd month of Keto (or any form of 'diet').

So far I have managed to lose 9.4kg since I began in early October. My goal this month is pretty simple: keep up with the diet as close as I can, and not be overly concerned with the scales.

I'd like to see my weight drop below 90kg before the end of the month and keep it off, which seems an easy enough task, given I'm 90.2kg as of today, but as we know, Christmas is only 23 days away..

I'm going away for the week of Christmas, but it should be easy enough to keep it up as I'll be at my parents place and have access to the kitchen and able to cook for myself. (Likely my dad will still cook for me, and be happy enough to cook different stuff for me if I asked him to, especially when I can prove it's working for me)

I've decided I'm going to allow myself 2 days this month where I will relax my carb restrictions. Christmas day (obviously, Dad will be cooking and he's the best; I'm biased there lol), and the 27th Dec as it's my daughters 18th birthday. I will still try to keep minimal even on those days, but not going to beat myself up if I go over.

It's been a while since I have participated in the Keto Monthly Challenge. While I haven't maintained ketosis, I have been low carb and have only gained back 10lbs. I still have weight to lose and this is where it all happened, so I'm back!

Well, I lost a few pounds last month, but I've been holding steady at the same weight for like 4 weeks. At this time of year, I'm going to go ahead and call that a win!

    SW January 2018: 215

I'm 5'11", 46 years old, and I've been trying to get to the gym a few times a week and log my food daily. (for the most part, anyway) I welcome friend requests, although I'm not incredibly active here on MFP.

NSV TODAY: Totally killed it at the gym today. It was a circuit training class, and I pushed it to the max at every station, until I had no choice but to skip a station. Feels nice to be noticing that my fitness is improving. I might not ever look like I did in a bikini 20 years ago, but I still have a chance of being even more fit and healthy than I was back then! Score!

I got my 6-month (free) assessment with my trainer at my gym. She instructed me to bump up my calories significantly and stick to the workout routine she laid out for me. I did just that and boom!!! I'm down this week!
So now, I'm not stressing about calories and carbs- just being diligent about carbs, staying around 30-40g which usually is around 20-26g net carbs. I feel fantastic working out 4-5x a week. I'm doing so much more than only swimming!
I hate to jinx this by stating that my December goal is to be under 160, but that's what I'm working towards and this early in the month- it seems attainable. I've been hovering in the mid to high 160's for the past 2 months. The scale doesn't fluctuate much, but I do see a difference in my body, the way my clothing fits and how I feel in general. So that kept me sticking to my eating plan. I'm actually looking forward to next week's weigh in!

New to this board. I just turned 62 and have Congestive Heart Failure, Kidney Disease and COPD. I started Keto in June at 201 lbs then had major surgery in Sept when I did not eat much of anything and did not track cals and carbs. Developed an infection soon after and told to increase protein to help body fight infection. Finally in Nov. infection was gone and incision finally closed up so got back on the Keto diet.

Last labs showed kidney problems getting worse (on diuretics for CHF) and now liver chemical profile shows problems there too. Have looked into research to see if possibly Keto could be contributing to these problems and getting mixed conclusion except for protein and kidney disease. Decided to lower protein and see how that goes as I get most of my fat from protein products.

December 2019 was not my best effort. I seemed to give in to every temptation I faced. As of today my net results for 2019 is a gain of 4.5 pounds, so I guess I should revise my statement and just say all of 2019 was not my best effort. That said, I’m looking forward to 2020. There are several significant milestones in my life in 2020 to look forward to. I will turn 70, reach 50 years of marriage to my high school sweetheart and attend a 10 year group (60-69 grads) high school reunion. All of those should be enough incentive to make put in a better effort in 2020.

No excuses, complaints or regrets for 2019. I can’t imagine how much I would have gained without all of your support to hold me accountable on this thread. I hope to see you all back here in 2020.
