Today is a great day to focus on what is going right for you.
Forget the scale!!
Are stronger? healthier? more flexible? clothes fitting better? What is right in your world?
For me, due to my new 2019 chronic lumbar spine issues and resulting pain, I'm searching for ways to strengthen my body and avoid future problems.
I've spent the last 10 days doing stretching exercises based on the McKenzie Method and as demonstrated by an exercise physiologist. Today, I remained standing while putting on my sweatpants. Sounds pretty simple, unless you have spent the last 4 weeks having to sit down to accomplish that same simple movement.
How about you?

Exercised?: Yes (5 km in 40 mins - hills)
Calories?: Yes
Tracked?: Yes
Birthday lunch party for Brother-in-law. He turns 40 the day after Christmas. Party was band and finger food. Good band, but got too loud for me and I had to take some "time out" to de-stress (I am not good with the combination of loud and lots of people).
Really bad for daughter. 24 hour watch tonight. Meeting with mental heath tomorrow. Kind of derails work plans, but family ALWAYS comes first.
@RangerRickL. My biggest recent non-scale victory recently is returning to the UAC family. The walking got me mentally turned around enough to return. Really need this group.
Second biggest is receiving brand new (unworn) tailored suits from a friend that I remember was always smaller than me. Due to a change in his circumstances, he was sure he would never wear the suits. Nor did he know anyone else the suits may fit. (Not many 5'9" men, medium build, under 150 lbs). The suits fit me almost perfectly. I am amazed that I am now the size he was. For the previous 30 years, this would NEVER have been the case.

Yes to all 3.
70 minutes walk. I'm nil by mouth except liquids for 48 hours so the calories are easy!
On Thursday - I sat in a squat (what is called Asian squat here) for about 40 minutes. It was easy, comfortable and I did not realise how much time had passed till someone commented I must be uncomfortable squatting like that for almost an hour! It was my preferred way of waiting in line, sitting etc till I got pregnant and my tummy got in the way and remained in the way. I first got pregnant 6 years ago...
For the first time - again last week, I was able to do the stretch where you stand on one leg, hold the other toe behind you and tilt forward stretching the held leg backwards. I did not fall or stumble and held the pose for 60 seconds! First time ever in almost 7 months.
Someone asked me on Sat if I did crossfit and I said no. He said you move like someone who does crossfit. Is that a compliment or not?! 🤔🤔
I lugged a lot of stuff around on that day as we were having a BBQ8 -
Exercise and tracking yes. Calories no - went slightly over with a hot chocolate. But mmmmmm it was good.
Love NSV day! Will come back tomorrow to read the rest.
A local friend told me this week that her and her husband had been discussing that I must be losing weight. I was a but taken aback!8 -
Dec 15:
Exercise >20 minutes: Yes. 82 minutes elliptical. 15 mins weights. 90 mins easy hike.
Within kcal (<1800): Yes. 1204 kcal.
Track everything: Yes
This is my favorite day, love reading everyone’s NSV, so motivating!!!
My NSVs for December:
1. Increased confidence when lifting weights. Traveled a lot this month and my trainer quit, so I had to lift several times on my own, albeit it was only 20 mins or so each time, I wouldn’t have done that before.
2. Able to do the assisted pull-up. I tried this early 2019 and couldn’t do it-even with the 200 lb assist. Losing 50 lbs this year made difference for this exercise, and makes me feel proud/ empowered.
3. Brought my bike to get tuned up today. It’s been at least 5 years since I rode a bike, but felt uncomfortable because of my size. I’m sure I’ll still feel some of that when I ride it, but I feel more comfortable since I weigh less. I didn’t even want to bring it in last couple years because I was so embarrassed of my size. Today, was no big deal-a win!!
@craigo3154 love your NSVs!! It’s so great when something didn’t expect to fit (or yet), does So glad you’re in the group!! Appreciate your feedback and insight.12 -

Exercised? YES - performance + load out (wee hrs)
Tracked? YES
Calories? YES
Passes Used:0/3
I can't think of any specific NSVs but I have maintained my weight loss for 18 months and for the year have made some significant gains in strength & mobility.10 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? No
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? No
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes
Well, that's me missing the winners circle again. I really should start forcing myself to get purposeful exercise even when I'm sick and don't want to do anything more strenuous than switch positions on the couch. There's absolutely no excuse for not taking a gentle 20 minute walk even when I'm not feeling well.
No real NSVs here, but I did discover at a massage session just how freaking TIGHT my hip flexors are. This is most likely a big contributor to the back pain I've been having since pretty much forever. The NSV I will be working to achieve is stretching enough to fix this and hopefully get a bigger range of activities without constantly worrying about throwing my back out.10 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes, a 1 hour 30 minute trail run/walk.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes

Exercise? Yes. 60 minute walk. Total of 10k steps for day.
Within my calorie goal? Ja.
Tracked everything? Roger!
I don't have a lot of NSV, mainly because I don't measure or push myself in exercise. But I did wear an outfit to the Christmas party last week that I purchased in 2015 and never had an opportunity to wear before I gained weight.7 -

- I am managing to mostly resist seasonal temptations and stay under goal.
- I’m able to wear lace up shoes/trainers again.

NSV is 75 days of logging in and acknowledging that UAC helps me be somewhat successful with many of the items in this list:

Yes x3. Weather is interfering with dog walks and I had a busy day with church and a Christmas party, so 20 min exercise was very forced. Joints aren't happy either.
I guess the "good" thing is my stomach has been hurting so I didn't even eat at the Christmas party.6 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Wrangling preschoolers for 2 hours at church this morning
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes
Rough day today. Our friend Glenn has been moved to hospice.7 -
Still sick. Calories well under but spent the day in bed.
NSV this month is not turning to emotional eating when life circumstances feel stressful. Last month I failed miserably at that and stopped checking in here. This month I’m making better choices and planning to stick around despite knowing I won’t make the winners circle.7 -
Every day during the holidays is a temptation, so any day you don't take a pass is a victory!
Exercise: my active stretching moved up by 20%. That is only 2 more x per movement, but it's still 20% more than I have been able to do. 40+ minutes today
Tracking: good
Calories: under by enough4 -
Yes x3. Exercise was 38 minutes run/walk4
-
Yes x 3 - Housework, prep-cooking, decorating mailbox.
Christmas time is a fun time in the kitchen and I don't want to loose that. I've always made bourbon balls with very dark chocolate and as much bourbon as possible. (I'd eat half of what I'd make.) Sugared pecans, another favorite, were a given, and countless other goodies are associated with the season. My NSV is how easily I've moved into letting go of past unhealthy traditions and found new celebratory foods more inline with my current lifestyle. Today I made candied clementine slices. We had fun in the kitchen - Easy, festive, not a trigger food, and hardly more sugar than just the orange itself.5
