December 20
Exercised?: Yes (5 km in 42 mins - hills)
Calories?: Yes
Tracked?: Yes
Walked early as temperature got to it's forecast to of 42C (108F). Listening to Feeling Good still and trying to apply the principles.
Despite the heat, family had a relatively good day.
Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler.
Principles of "Feeling Good" are that your thoughts create your feelings, if the thoughts are distorted, then the feelings will be too. Also lists the 10 most common "thinking/perception errors" (I've memorised he list )- All or nothing thinking (complete success of total failure)
- Over-generalisation (bad things will never change or stop happening)
- Mental filter (seeing only what you choose to see)
- Disqualifying the positive (saying "it doesn't count to compliments or achievements)
- Jumping to conclusions (fortune teller error (negative prediction) / mind-reading (others will think bad of me))
- Magnification and minimisation (problems are huge, strengths/accomplishments are small)
- Emotional reasoning (if I feel bad I must have done something bad)
- Should statements (trying to whip yourself into action with false expectations instead of using rewards)
- Labelling (name calling, see self and others in an all encompassing tainted light)
- Personalisation (taking responsibility for things outside your control)
I find at times I make MOST of these errors. These wear me down and it takes effort to combat. This is part of the reason I post things here, I am "talking back" to my own distorted thinking.
I also posted in another group how metabolism works (for carbs and fats). It's a little long, and more directed at weight loss, but is helpful in weight management. I can repost here tomorrow if people want. I know @BonnieHosk85 has seen it. That is my "extra" for today10 -
@craigo3154 I love the comment "if thoughts are distorted, then feelings will be as well" It is definitely something I need to work on in some areas.
I am using another pass today. A 15 hour working day on 5 hours sleep was a bit beyond me meeting calorie goals, never mind exercise. It was a good day in many ways. The release of Ziggy went very well and we saw loads of seals and various sea birds plus 3 whales and a few small groups of dolphins on the 5 hour trip. Sadly while I got to do the fun bit today, my colleague had to take the premie stranded pup to be euthenazed as it had been seizing most of the night. Unfortunately, that is the reality of rehab, and why we celebrate the successes so much.
I had promised some friends a behind the scenes tour in the afternoon and it was great fun. Not only did I get to introduce a few new people to the awesome world I work in (and the boys were pretty brave even though dad is scared of snakes and spiders) but the third kid was the most adorable. He is my Coach's soon and has been to visit numerous times so he was explaining most of the things to the others, even though he is the youngest. He proudly informed them repeatedly that he knows this.
Then I had to wait around for a supplier to deliver stock. I was not expecting this and was super hungry and exhausted all McDonald's was convinient to nip to quickly.
I have the weekend off work (unless we get any new strandeds in) and then on Monday to Sunday, although a number of those are short days so I will be resting. My watch says my resting heart rate jumped today which often means I'm getting sick, but I'm hoping can be attributed to exhausted as well.
Sorry about my essays, I won't feel offended if you skip over them. But if you persevered and went to see a picture of Ziggy leaving to the Big blue, send me a friend request and then look at my post from today. I can't get images to post in forums on my phone.8 -

@Dory_42. Keep posting the essays. I will happily read. Love to hear about your work life as it is something out of he ordinary (with great highs and lows) that I will likely never experience.

Had a rough day yesterday, procrastinated working out all day, and finally did it at 9pm. Ugh. So I slept in this morning (until 7 instead of 330a) and it was awesome!!
Felt great to workout with my other trainer (she’s only available in afternoon so don’t see her much) and did several new lifts. It was really fun, and more so because I was well rested and full of energy I got up to a new bench weight today too, with 5 reps. It was an awesome day!!5 -

@craigo3154 I would surely wilt in those temperatures. My body has a very minimal comfort range in temperature. I'm comfortable in temps 75 degrees to 85 degrees, my limit in either direction. Hope the extreme heat subsides for you in Australia, soon!4 -
Happy birthday @boldrabbit
Take on the ordinary post. Personally I prefer the term normal and my response to the idea of being normal is firstly that normal is boring and then I go on to explain that in a scientific sense normal means the same as the average, but we are all different, we are all unique and therefore we cannot be normal, unless we are pretending. Some of my best friends are completely different to me but we get on great, and they help me see things from their perspective and understand the world better, being unique isn't a bad thing!5 -
@craigo3154 Please post your metabolism and carbohydrate information. Thanks, Rick3

Exercise: nothing fancy, just 35 minutes of stretching. Tomorrow, I begin a higher level of stretching exercises.
Calories: under
Tracking: good4 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes, dog walk, plus several hours of walking for myself at the gym plus life activities
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes, but barely. I ate waaay too much today, especially at work with all the free holiday food. I hope to make tomorrow a low food day. Right now I feel bloated and really off. Not worth it.
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes
@craigo3154 Thanks for posting your thinking/perception errors list. I recognize most of the items on the list. Number 10, personalisation (taking responsibility for things outside your control), used to be a life obstacle for me, especially with my mother. I am not responsible for making other people happy. If other people are not happy with a choice I've made, that's not my problem. That's their problem with themselves. All part of the lifelong work of accepting our adulthood.2 -
Happy Birthday, @bold_rabbit Hope you had a great day!

Last year, I did not participate in social engagements revolving around food. There is a price paid for that.
This year, I am trying a different approach. Many social events with food this past week. Calories have been good - helped by long walks.
Finding the balance...month by month.
I am pleased that I’m getting closer to figuring out how many calories I can eat & maintain...SO many variables!!3 -

Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Not totally sure
