I love 3 styles of exercise and all of them take place outdoors:
1) horseback riding
2) kayaking
3) hiking
Yesterday, after spending all workday indoors, I set out into the desert at dusk. It’s during a very apparent and rapid change of light and temperature. It’s also when the night creatures begin to appear. Here was one of my trail companions. It’s called a peccary.

The peccary looked to be about 75 lbs and he was on the move at a brisk pace!
A little later and with less light, I saw this sunset glow over the nearby mountains

Exercised?: Yes (3 km walk in 23 mins)
Calories?: Yes
Tracked?: Yes
Short walk today. Was exhausted after a very busy day.
Daughters new bed arrived and needed assembly, but before that had to clean out her room including old bed removal. Daughter is a hoarder and does not cope well with change. With her mental condition, she was essentially unable to assist much.
Took 4 hours to empty and clean the room enough to assemble new queen size bed in place. Further 2 hours to clean up the clutter left from clearing out her room. House is now in a usable state (mostly).
@RangerRickL. Favourite outdoor activity is walking. Also enjoy cycling, but it's been a while. Used to do sailboarding when a lot younger.
One outdoor activity I am looking forward to in a couple of weeks is aerial obstacle course. It is not especially difficult, but I find it a fun diversion while on holiday.13 -
A few pictures from my run this morning...
My outdoor activities including walking or running, ideally along the beachfront area, hiking, swimming in the ocean.16 -
Gorgeous, @Dory_42!!3

Thanks for the lovely pictures @Dory_42 and @RangerRickL!
I love both walking and hiking outdoors. Just being in the sunshine is helpful, but nature is like anti-anxiety meds for my brain! Fortunately we live near to a park and what passes as a river in these parts (I'm a river snob having grown up near big ones), so many of our walks include a little nature. I received a book about local hikes for my birthday, so I plan to get us out of our rut of just walking near home.8 -
Wow! What a wonderful world!
Beautiful pics all!
My favorite outdoor activities involves those near water like running, walking, cycling, sailing, tennis, swimming or scuba, watching the sunset, even sitting and sipping an occasional wine and stargazing. I know sitting burns up calories too. 🌅9 -
Started today with a 30 minute run which was very slow but very sweaty thanks to high humidity. Exercise also included assistant coach at kids class for Jiu Jitsu. Always great sharing our passion with the next generation.
Not the best food choices but I adjusted and logged as I changed things so I kept the calories within budget.
Looking forward to a day off tomorrow, before the weekend work. And if all goes to plan I only have 5 working days until break which will be nearly 3 weeks long!10 -
Beautiful pictures @Dory_42 and @RangerRickL!
I love walking but definitely not in this northern cold I need to go to a warmer place all year round.9 -

Walking, cycling, swimming, the list could go on. Personally, I find exercising outdoors massively beneficial. Anxiety can ebb away as I get back in tune with the sense of how small we are in the grand scheme of things. I return from the woods, river, lake, ocean and know that everything's going to be ok and what a gift this life is. That reminds me, when I walked the Inca Trail, our guides would always pour a little bit of their drink or meal on the earth as an offering to Pachamama (sort of Mother Nature or Mother Earth). I think that exercising outdoors can make us feel alive and grateful. Just reading Bob's epic tales of mountain ascents makes us all feel alive and too @Dory_42 's ocean swims. I remember years ago struggling in rough sea swimming in South Africa - but wow did I feel alive! @craigo3154 walks faster than I jog and his daily walks inspire me to get out. You all inspire me - thank you!12 -
I love sea kayaking - but live in a big city in Asia so don't get to the ocean that often
I used to love mountain climbing - until I had my fall
I love bush walking - but now I am on a walking stick due to pre-mentioned fall
I love to be active in any way I can manage now
