Hello ladies. Sorry to be MIA for so long. Caught up on your posts . . you're both starting the new decade working hard, and I hope you can squeeze in the "me" time that we all need in order to take care of ourselves. I'm retired and it's still feels hard to find that time, believe it or not.

Sarah, it's a real compliment to your work that you've been given such an important task. When you're overwhelmed and stressed, try to remember the importance of your work to the health of our country, especially the young people. I'm grateful. I will also send prayers and positive thoughts for your sister.

Good job with managing your weight through the holidays. I think you're right about sugar and fat. I've been trying to get rid of all the holiday candy and snacks! If it's not all gone by Friday, I'm throwing the rest out.

Lois, I'm sure your time with your daughter was wonderful, and that you got caught up with her and her life. And, a new cookbook is a great idea. I was thinking about getting one for the Mediterranean Diet, which is what my husband's doctor recommended for heart health. We're thinking about eliminating red meat completely, and eating more fish and chicken in much smaller portions.

I went with hubby to his follow-up appointment when the doctor reviewed all his tests. Everything was fine except his cholesterol was way up. He had stopped taking his medication for that due to the side effects, but the doctor emphasized that all the studies show it is needed in his case. So, he went back on it. Now, the only looming issue with doctors for him is the surgery for his hands (Dupuytrens Contracture) that's scheduled for Feb 12th. He's nervous because he loves golf and fishing so much, so pray for a good outcome for him. Of course, his golf group scheduled a southern Utah golf trip for the end of this month for a few rounds before he gets the surgery :)

We had a wonderful visit in Oregon, and a very fun new year. Our granddaughters love games, and that's what we did most of New Years Eve. On New Years Day, we all went to a gorgeous park with rolling hills, and vineyard and winery nearby, a historic farm with red barns and all. . very scenic. We did our "virtual" 5K there that DIL had sponsored. The kiddos rode their bikes. I jogged a little, but mostly walked fast.

Since we got home Jan 3 we've gotten all Xmas put away, had trainer Monday, and done wedding and bridal shower planning my sister and her girls are giving . . everyone has to travel here for that, so the logistics have been a bit crazy. They're going to take her to Park City the same weekend for bachelorette festivities. Also, our son and his 7 year old daughter is coming for skiing over MLK weekend. Shower is March 7. Life just keeps coming.

Sorry for being so quiet. I was on "vacation" the weeks of Christmas and New Years - returned back to my desk this past Monday. I felt for Sarah as my desktop computer was crashing just before I left, so I told IT to take it fix it or replace it while I was out. I have a laptop so no big deal. Well I couldn't do everything I needed on my laptop while I was out but I looked at that as somewhat of a blessing. I came into the office just after 7am on Monday to get a jump on the sales that had occurred. The new desktop system was in however, my profile and all access info was not set up. They left a note to call to finish the set up. Well, I sent a note on the phone for her to call me as soon as she got in as I had given her my passwords and a sheet listing what programs needed to be pinned etc. I couldn't even open Excel or Word. She finished about 830 but that meant I lost 90 minutes of catching up and processing...UGH. So that was my biggest frustration. I'm cruising now, so I can't complain beyond yesterday.

My daughter arrived very late on the 21st and I've enjoyed what time we've had together. She's spending this week at my son's house as his house is halfway to us and to my son in law's sister's where his parents are staying. So, I miss her and won't see her until Friday. I'm so busy catching up that I'm exhausted when I get home and basically sleep on the couch and then climb into bed.

Christmas eve it rained all day, so we were unable to put out the luminaries. Beef stew and visiting was in full swing. Christmas day we rose early, dressed in our new Christmas jammies and drove to my son's for breakfast and opening presents with little Rhea. It was a great morning. Dinner started about 2pm and was delicious and all 18 of us had full tummies and smiles. We had our family, my son in law's family, my son and daughters' families and our neighbor across the street from my house. It was fun. New Years Eve we had a pajama party and played games...Spot It and Catan. Both were lots of fun. We ordered bbq from Famous Daves and just had a great time as we rang in the new year with fireworks and champagne.

My daughter caught a cold on the flight and I caught it from her just after Christmas. I'm on the tail end of it but it's been a nasty head cold.

The kids took my MIL to the airport Monday morning and they also went to my son's. they'll be back at my house on Sunday. I'm also taking off next Thurs/Fri to have some shopping and fun time with my daughter. I'm really looking forward to that. Monday was my SIL's bday and Friday is my son's bday so we have another bday dinner this Friday for those two and on Saturday my SIL twin sisters (Cam and Kelsies' mom) are celebrating their 40th bday. So we are almost done with the celebrations.

Sarah I'm thinking of you and hoping the weather and activity happens for you. Hoping your sister is having some improvements. And I'm with Sheesh that they must value you if they're giving you such important reports to workin on.

Sheesh - missing you and the pics on FB, though I haven't been posting on there either. I find that I"m mostly looking at healthy recipes and following the run the year group again (year six and i've signed on again). And we're still putting away Christmas. We typically keep everything up until Jan 6 anyway so hubby and SIL took down the house lights. We've unplugged the others yesterday. The wedding is going to have you so happy and busy. Enjoy it...

Sorry for the long post....guess I should have found time to post while I was out.

Still tagging pages in my cookbooks - I'm not starting my new years workouts until after my daughter goes back. I'm too busy and working too late so that I can have time to spend with her...time with her is my priority. Once she's gone I'll have my bum in gear - promise.

BTW - I started the bodybugg 10 years ago yesterday!!!! Can you believe it??? Thankful for the FB memory that popped up. and thankful to you ladies for keeping me sane and on track

Bummer. I wanted some progress! I started out the new year feeling hopeful. I actually used weights two times the first week! I started out with two pounds, needed a little more, but couldn't quite do 10 pounds. So I even ran to Target and got some 5 pounders because I couldn't find mine. Then work exploded and I was back to scrambling for my life, trying to keep my brain from waking me up all through the night, and feeling just tired to death. Last night, I was barely able to get in my 30 minutes on the treadmill before I felt like all my energy just eeked out. I was so disappointed that my walking buddy did not want to drive to meet at the mall (or what little is left of it). We barely got an inch of snow and not much stuck to the roads, but the roads were wet and as the night went on, some areas began to freeze. So I'll give her a pass--especially since she lives alone.

Sheesh, we have been talking about adopting a Mediterranean diet, too. One of our goals, which I think I mentioned, is to eat vegetarian at least one night, eat fish at least one night, and try to eat red meat only occasionally. As you know, my hubby also had problems with statins and ended up in the ER, but he is now taking a non-statin cholesterol drug is doing okay with that so far. With his family history of heart disease, he just can't let the cholesterol get too high. His IBS has been kicking his behind lately. Last night he looked so sad. He was just weak and feeling frustrated with no having the energy to get things done. He's going to be traveling soon, so I do hope the IBS improves. Sending good vibes to your hubby for the hand surgery.

Lois, it sounds like you've had a fun and busy time with your daughter and other family members. And I appreciate your empathy with the computer and work issues. Miserly loves company! LOL

Happy tracking device anniversary! I started with the bodybugg in February of 2010. Seems like it was only four or five years ago--not 10! Wow, we've all known each other for quite some time. I got a new Charge 3 this Christmas, but I haven't started wearing it yet. I wanted it for pool walking this summer.

Also, on New Year's Day, I looked back at our first entries and saw Kelly's first post on this message board in January 2014. She had just broke up with someone and was really down. I decided to send her a message to say Happy New Year. She hasn't responded, but I think that may be because messages from here don't go to our outside email.

Well, got to run. Took a break while something was downloading, and it has!

Happy Bodybugg Anniversary to us all! I’ve gone through more devices than I can count, and am now with the Apple Watch, which I love. I’m so glad we came together online. . Friends are wonderful no matter where they are.

Lois, you had a busy, busy holiday! Sorry you were sick with a cold. Get better, and when all the birthdays are past, let’s really get busy . . I need to get into a dress I already bought :# I’m so happy you get to spend time with your daughter.

Sarah, maintaining is great, especially if you lifted some weights. Lifting brings more water into the muscle, and then the muscle grows (hopefully) and becomes more dense and weighs more. But, that’s all good . , you’ll be stronger, look leaner, and burn more calories. Keep up the great work. Hope your work schedule settles into a predictable routine.

I’ve had a hectic, busy week with shower and wedding planning. Also, my son is flying in for a visit with his oldest (7 year old girl) to go skiing over the weekend of MLK holiday. Our cabin is in one of the ski resort canyons, so they want to stay there one night, and at our house too. Daughter here and fiancé and his girl (turned 8 today) are going with them. It will be lots of fun, but meals at two houses and transporting people around. Busy.

I had a good week thus far. Logged all food and was in very good calorie deficit. Had trainer Mon and Thurs, and did additional cardio. I’m hoping for a good weigh-in Wednesday. And, I’m hoping it doesn’t all get reversed over the weekend, lol!

Hey Sheesh. So glad to see your post. You have to describe or post a picture of that dress that is your new motivation. :)

Yesterday it was almost 70 degrees here. That is crazy. Last year the high on this day was 37. We are on a roller coaster that is confusing all the vegetation, and although I never want 50 inches on the ground again like we had a few years ago, I do want one or two good snows.

Despite the good weather, I didn't get many steps in yesterday. I ran around and did some errands, made calls and sent messages and emails related to the Women's March next Saturday, and then attended a meeting last night. Got home and just did not feel so good for some reason. I think, in part, it's because my face is flaring up again and it's just draining me emotionally. I've said it before and I'll probably say it many more times, but when it's your face, it's like right there in front of you and you just can't escape it. My forehead is so red that even make-up does not totally hide it. I was talking to a women in the flower section in Trader Joe's yesterday and was so self-conscious. And the "kitten" thing hurts!

I was excited about getting started with some weights, but after I switched from 2 pounds to five pounds, my shoulder that I hurt pulling myself out of the pool a couple of years ago began to hurt again. I kind of suspect that I tore my rotator cuff slightly. I guess I'll use the 2 pounds again for a few days and then try again.

Hubby left for Palm Beach, Florida, on business this morning and will be gone until Wednesday. I hope to be able to take advantage of this time alone to get some things done and eat a little differently than I do when he's doing a lot of the cooking. And I will need to avoid working lots of extra hours because he's away and can't give me the the evil eye!

Lois, hope all is going well with you. Yesterday, I replied to Kelly's post on the SNS FB page and I mentioned that I had sent her an email on New Year's Day from MFP. She replied and said happy new year, but this time didn't mention coming back to the board. :'(

Sarah, 70 degrees?! That's crazy. It's 29 here and snowing, so there will likely be some storms coming your way.

Darn that rash! :/ I'm so mad that you can't find a doctor to help with it! Maybe some kind of alternative medicine? So sorry.

Hang in there with the weights. . you'll very gradually get stronger. What kind of exercises are you doing with them?

Lucky you getting a few days on your own. It's much easier for me to diet when my hubby is out of town. He has a golf trip coming up the end of this month. ;)

I had my trainer today, and she kicked my "kitten". Heading back to the TM in a bit to do a little cardio. . I'm hoping for a reduction Wed.

Sorry to hear that I'm missing Kelly's posts on FB. Let her know I de-activated my FB, but I'm still thinking about her and hoping all is going well.

I would love to post a pic of my dress . . I've had a hard time figuring out how to do that on this site (I'm embarrassed to admit, lol). Maybe Lois can walk me through how to post a photo here.

Well, you know when you think it's going to be bad news and you really are worried...well that was me this morning. Mondays are just too insane so I'm changing my weigh in day back to Tuesdays. I have a few minutes on Tuesdays that I just don't have on Mondays.

So, well before Christmas i was "down" to 229. This am, I'm down to 228.8...IT'S A REDUCTION! So anyhoo, yeah...that's where I am.

I had my annual with my primary last Thursday. BP is just too damn high again. I'm logging and texting the info to my dr. each Monday. For now we've increased the meds. I need to get my bum in gear to get focused again and reduce the weight so I can reduce the meds again. I have many recipes tagged, now I need to plan on when to make and shop for those fresh ingredients next week. we still have a few more dinners out and my daughter is still here - we have our shopping day tomorrow and I'm super excited, even if it is for the larger size.

Cartier called today and they finally got my link for my watch in, so now I'm wearing that with my Garmin tucked in my bra for today. I'm looking at the Venu as it's a little sleeker than my fenix 5s. So yeah. So Sheesh - I'm with ya on multiple variations over the past 10 years. Have fun skiing this weekend!!

Our weather has been chilly mornings but beautiful afternoons. I'm still wearing my sleeveless tops with a light sweater. Remember this when I'm in triple digits in 90 days...lol Saturday I bought a light sweater top/tunic to wear for the bday party...it's way too warm to wear at the office. Will only wear it if we go out in the evening.

Sarah - stay with the 2lbs for a bit longer. But I think you're going to find yourself feeling better after using them for awhile. Prayers for your rash to calm the heck down! I'm missing Kelly as well. She doesn't post much on FB either.

I will weigh in tomorrow, but just in case I'm late, I thought I'd let you guys know that today was one of the most horrible work days I've had in--I don't know when--and who knows what tomorrow will bring. Todaoy I had documents to get in clearance first thing, so I started work at 7:15. Things were going peachy until I got a phone call about the transition of the vaping injuries to my program, and then the chaos began. >:) I had not been advised that we need to prepare for coverage 24/7. Sure no problem! And then I was working on problems with an inbox used for Surgeon Generals Report and suddenly lost two of my most important and critical inboxes. And nothing that the IT people tried worked. Finally I was told that the tier 3 people had all left for the day, and so I have to wait until tomorrow. In the meantime, staff figured out I wasn't answering email and started pinging me on Skype and by text message. It was all I could do to stay civil. And to top it off, my only back-up was out today with no advance notice, but he's a Fed, so . . .

BUT--my walking buddy is meeting me around 7:45 to walk, and I actually took a half hour in the early afternoon while waiting for IT and jumped on the treadmill. I have no idea if my weight will be up or down or just the same tomorrow, but at least I'm taking some time for myself. And hubby called and said that we've been invited to Palm Beach by one of his vendors to go watch the Nats during spring training. Yeah--if I can ever get away from here.

Sheesh, it's back to cold here today, and I actually think I saw a few snowflakes. And do get help from Lois to upload a pic of that dress. I'd love to see it. So exciting to have the last daughter getting married!

And Lois, I envy you your winter weather, but I know that we all have good temps some of the time, but not all of the time. Once your daughter leaves we can all try to get on a spring training plan of our own. And I do plan to stay with the 2 lb weights for a little while. Last night, I just did the motions of tricep and bicep curls and a few other exercises with no weights at all. That didn't trigger the shoulder, so I'll try the weights again tonight after I get back from the mall.
