NSV (Non Scale Victories)

This thread will be for motivation and encouragement of accomplishments that aren’t directly calculated on a scale. This can celebrate the inches or sizes lost even though the scale is stuck. It can be for noticing the stairs are easier or tying shoes aren’t troublesome. If you have less inflammation and headaches are fewer, sinuses are clearer, sleeping better, bloating is non existent, even if toilet trips aren’t as difficult. 😃 Emotional benefits are important like having more confidence doing something you didn’t like or haven’t done and having less anxiety. Always having an attitude of gratitude is important for health! All successes matter 🎉

The irony that I’m relying on NSV for mental encouragement as this week isn’t nice on the scale. At my age, hormonal changes are not pleasant. I feel smaller but it isn’t displayed on the scale. Sleeping has been horrible also. I’m happy with my reflection and shape in the mirror. Yesterday an old guy commented I had a very nice shape and today another old man said I need to look in the mirror from the back side as my swimsuit was too baggy. Whatever. I should check the drawer of old swimsuits 🩱 again though.

@squirley13 you totally don’t look as old as you make yourself out to be. I also haven’t been sleeping well so I’ve decided to be gentle with myself and not sweat it since stress actually makes the body hold on to the weight.

Thank you ☺️ but I will be 47 too soon. I have been cheating with carbs lately and when I eat more carbs than I should I do get night sweats, cramps and very irritable 😠 I know why I’m doing it and hopefully I faced my demons and won! So true about stress and cortisol making a body hold onto the weight!

Well, I will report another NSV as my scale isn’t showing any victories lately. 4 years ago I have to take out my belly button ring due to the umbilical hernia causing me pain and actually touched the metal. 3 years ago I was scheduled 3 times for surgery and they canceled each time because I was too sick for surgery. Not only am I healthy now for surgery, but I totally don’t need the surgeries to repair my 6 hernias as they have all healed on their own. On Friday I attempted and succeeded getting my old belly button ring back in the hole and no had pain from the umbilical hernia site!!! I don’t feel comfortable nor confident with pictures until I get the rest of the body fat left to lose lost for good! I am getting new jewelry to celebrate this health journey.

So far this year I have only lost 2.8 pounds on scale this year BUT I lost 2 inches on my waist, 1 inch on my hips, .5in on thighs Just since the first of the year!!! 😃 Always take measurements to judge success as well.

Seriously no posts since February?! Ok I have to state a NSV now. My exercise has been stairs and my house is cleaner while my immune system is stronger for it because the house was filthy. 🧼 🧹
