VSG and Hot Peppers

I am around 3.5 months out. My surgery went fine, I don't have a lot of food concerns so far. I'm on track on my weight loss, all Blood work is awesome (dropped or reduced all prescriptions!) So today I decided I would eat a roasted Jalapeno (almost no calories and super yummy)...thought everything was ok, then the pain and pressure hit, I broke out in a cold sweat, thought I was going to faint, and then threw up. Is this a normal reaction to peppers after VSG?? Has anyone else experienced something like this? Is this a forever thing or was it just to soon?

I don’t have any advice but crappy that happened to you! I hope it’s not a life long thing.

I am six years out, and I didn't/don't have any food concerns to speak of, BUT... the first time I ate something too salty, and still sometimes now if I eat something that has a high concentration of salt, I will get sick to my stomach and feel like I am going to throw up. I am like that if I eat a fatty piece of meat sometimes. Ugh, it's a gross feeling. I think that's partly due to the fact that I don't have a gall bladder. Did you have your gall bladder removed?

I think we have to slowly introduce things that are very salty, spicy, fatty, or acidic. It seems like maybe it was a bit too soon for something as strong as a jalapeno, especially on it's own. If you are craving something like that, maybe mix it up with something, a scrambled egg maybe?

I am about 5 months post op and hot foods don't bother me. Only issues I have had have been sweets(which I don't eat that often). I get really weak and start shaking. Guess by bod is telling me NO sweets! LOL. I also get the reactions you talk about when I eat too fast. Other than that I'm so please with results so far. Down 91lbs. and from 48 to 38 pant size!
