Please don't take this graphic too seriously. I consider it my daily duty to find something to post to open the daily discussion post. Last night, I was musing about what was my favorite non-caloric food ingredient. Immediately, garlic came to mind. Not only is it renowned for warding off vampires, my wife also tells me that I have a marital duty to only eat garlic when she is also consuming it too.
I found this graphic which made me chuckle. I'm not sure what problems they are referring to, but it's also very effective in keeping other people at a distance from you.
Have a great day!
What are some of your favorite food ingredients?

We once had the son of a friend staying with us for several weeks, who ate half a head of raw garlic every day. I couldn't go near him! I have no idea what good he thought it did him as he is always ill...
I love chilli peppers, fresh coriander and ginger to spice up my food.10 -
Living in France, of course, most of what I cook has at least some garlic in it!10
-
The shrimp dish I posted a few days ago had 10 gloves of garlic in it. It is definitely a favorite of mine.7

If People are the problem-carriers in your life, then it would be very effective, I am sure! LOL
For me, pumpkin spice in all KINDS of things (coffee, yoghurt, sprinkled over pb&banana-on-toast ....) in fact, my favourite season is Pumpkin Spice! I figure there is a very good reason I was born in October.

Exercised: No

Budget: Yes
It's been a while since I posted.
I was not up to walking today, but plan to get out tomorrow.I feel the need to fill the regulars in what's been going on.
I suffer depression. I have for many months. I have been keeping it in check with daily exercise and lots of self help. Early last month this proved not to be enough so I started seeking professional help (continuing situation with daughter added enough stress to push me over the edge).
Late last month I started on anti-depressant medication (after a lot of research and consultation). The medication side effects were severe enough that they affected my work, I could not exercise and was sleeping way more than I could tolerate. After 8 days of inner hell, I saw the doctor and discontinued the medication.
Medication wise, I will see what the psychologist has to say before trying an alternative.
My daughter still has good and bad days and is still getting help. Unfortunately, today was not a good day for her.
@RangerRickL. Not too fond of garlic. But everything tastes better with either bacon or chocolate (but usually not both ).22 -

Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day?
Yes, no problem today.
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank?
Yes.
Favourite ingrediënt? Cinnamon. I heard of this trend of putting it in your coffee... Might give that a try.10 -

Exercise: Yes. 90 minutes walking. 10 sad minutes swimming: my swimming cap tore and you're not allowed to swim without...
Calories: Yes, stayed under, but had to eat into exercise calories as I fell amongst thieves and had more alcohol than I'd pre-planned. We had a great time though, good for my mental health!
Tracking: Yes, logged everything.
I've deleted some MFP friends who don't even bother to post a 'like' on my home page ever and am adding people from UAC, who all seem way more supportive.
@craigo3154 Totally sympathetic. I understand depression a little. My youngest son struggled with it for years and getting the right medication took a long time and lots of consultations. He's doing great now. I get quite depressed myself sometimes, which is to do with my partner but walking and exercise, and generally looking after myself helps, as well as support from friends, even virtual UAC ones ...18 -
Yes x 3 just. Calories were close to my limit today.
Passes used: 0/3 ☺ ☺ ☺
I like garlic. I like most food actually apart from paprika, pineapples and meat (vegetarian).
@craigo3154 I'm so so sorry you had a bad experience with the medication. I really hope you're feeling better soon and that they can suggest a better medication. I'm gutted that you've had to go through extra struggles. We're all here for you.13 -

Eat a lot on the days you do not want "those problem" people around you! LOL
@craigo3154 I pray that you will get better soon and God will give the doctors wisdom to recommend a better medication.11 -

Being Asian, garlic ginger and onions are my Holy Trinity of cooking & I recently started adding lemongrass.
Its only day 4 & I already need a pass day as I exploded my calorie count with some delicious Japanese food. Whenever I leave the little city of Ulm, where I call home at the moment, I head to the most authentic Asian restaurant I cannfind & pig out. Today was a Ramen restaurant in Munich.
Well tomorrow will be a detox day to balance the scales...😬9 -

Everyone is slightly different. What works for one, may not work for another. Just the main AD my doctor had success with for others did not work for me. Another has been discussed.
Doctors prescribe. That is their main tool of choice. Unfortunately, to a person with a hammer, every problem tends to look like a nail. Maybe my depression does not require the doctors "hammer". This is why I am also working with a psychologist (someone with more experience in the area that has more tools than primarily prescription).11 -

Today I celebrated the 24th anniversary of OK...the law firm where I enjoyed a number of years working with two great attorneys. There was a celebratory lunch today which I enjoyed without remorse...so over on calories for the 2nd day in a row. I have gotten my exercise both of those days...but I now stand at 2 pass days on this 4th day of March!
Not a great start...but some things take precedence over diet/food. The estate attorney I worked for passed away in January. I missed his calling hours and services in February as we were out of town. I just learned this week that the small business corporate attorney I worked for has been recently diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. I extend my concern for others and acknowledge I am fortunate for the blessings in my life.
@craigo3154 I hope you find the inner peace you need to absolve you of the many issues you face on a daily basis.12 -

Yes to all three.
I’m so glad I was at work and got all my exercise in, especially my indoor walk with my bestie, @patriciawmartin5 . We have a standing 2 pm walking date at work every day. 💖
I couldn’t do my regular VR workout tonight because there are now three dog crates and the food and water bowls in my make-do workout area. I was too tired to move crates around so I’d have a clear space to workout. I closed my exercise and move rings at work, thankfully. (For those of you who don’t know me, I wear an Apple Watch and have closed all my rings - exercise, move and stand - every day for over two years.)
We have extensive water damage from out water heater going out in late January. I used to use the kitchen/dining area open space to do my VR workouts. That flooring has been torn up for just over 2 weeks. Yesterday the restoration company put industrial fans and dehumidifiers in the dining room, so the furniture is in the kitchen and the crates are in the living room. The fans are crazy loud and run 24/7 until Friday. Like, it is crazy loud in my house, as well as windy.
Once the fans are gone, I can go back to working out in my little living room space, so until then? I need to make sure I get those rings closed and my 2 pm walk tomorrow will help me hook that up.
My favorite cooking spices are garlic, ginger, fresh cilantro, cayenne and basil. 😍
At this point, all I can say is that I’m glad I’m not a stress eater.9 -
