I enjoy exercise.
But, inside exercise can easily become more of a chore/duty/obligation.
When the weather is nice, I love to get outside. Somehow, walking outside is not a chore, it's fun.
Walking in the desert is more like a play time.
Horseback riding is an adventure.
Cleaning the barn or picking up dead fall in the forest is refreshing.
What exercise activities are actually fun for you?

Time differences: I wake up when @RangerRickL is about to call it a day! I don't live anywhere near a farm, so no barnclearing for me! I live in the centre of town, but a beautiful town, with a lovely old city centre and some nice parks. I love walking around town. Twice a month or so I go walkies in the countryside with some friends. I also live 20 minutes by tram from the seaside and I love walking on the beach, especially out of season.14

Perfect topic for me today! I do love the outdoors and refuse to run on treadmills when the beachfront is right next to the gym. However, my favourite exercise is done indoors. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a ground based grappling martial art. I started in May 2015 and I'm a blue belt. I haven't been able to train properly since 23 February 2019 (broken arm, kidney transplant, frozen shoulder, other shoulder seized up in sympathy, twisted ankle) and I finally did a complete class tonight! I do adapted versions of some of the warm up drills, I'm very selective of who I partner with and I tap super easily, but getting back on the mat was the important big step. Now I just keep showing up and doing what I can and I'll get back to where I was and beyond.
Obviously this made today a great day. I did 30 minutes of physio, 1 hour of yoga, 30 minutes of rehab work by myself, 1:15 Jiu Jitsu class, a full days work (with no bites today) and even managed a nap at lunchtime! Good food choices and under calories even with the ice cream I have for dessert (yes, I count it as a good food choices because occasional treats are allowed in my eating plan unless I'm in comp prep or something - I've eaten well to week so a treat fits nicely.)13 -
Yes x 3.
I love being outside. Walking, cycling, canoeing, swimming. Used to like jogging - need to get back into that. Feel much calmer after yoga - sometimes I haven't realised quite how busy my mind has got until I practise some yoga.11 -

I love and miss running. I’m dealing with postpartum foot pain and carpaltunel so have to take it easy. I enjoy yoga, swimming and barre classes but I’ve been struggling on doing these as my husband is away a lot and there’s no one to watch our baby. For now the exercises I enjoy are: dancing indoors with my baby, doing baby yoga with him, playing with him and going out for walks.
We are both unwell and had a bad night. I’ve carried him around all day and danced and swayed him for hours. Neither of us have much of an appetite. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.14 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes?
Yes ! Went for a jog of exactly 23 minutes before going to class this morning. Then moved around a lot and got over 10k steps. Nice.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day?
Yes ! And even managed to grab a beer with my sister who got home from her holidays in Dublin !
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank?
Yes !
I used to ice-skate as a kid, I don't have much time now and barely ever go on the rink but being on the ice is one of my favorite feelings : makes me feel free as ever !12 -

Great post @RangerRickL Walking anywhere is great fun for me, especially walking in nature. It often becomes a walking meditation. I love exploring cities on foot, too.

Walking for miles on the beach is one of my favorite exercises, but only get to the coast a few times a year. At home, my fitness investment this year was the Oculus Quest, my favorite exercises are now all VR; Beat Saber, BoxVR, OhShape and Synth Riders are my current favorites. I love it because it feels like play and not exercise.
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes; an hour walking and climbing stairs this morning and an hour playing VR. I didn’t close my rings at work, so I had to clear a space and suck it up, even though I wasn’t feeling it. As Patricia mentioned above, the Honor Walk for the organ donor tore us out of our frames. I haven’t cried like that at work in years.
Did I stay within calories? Yes, and even had enough to have mozzarella sticks at lunch with plenty left over.
Did I log everything I ate? Absolutely!

My favorite outdoor activity is xc skiing backcountry in the Adirondacks even the Lake Placid golf course is fun however with OA in my right knee that is worse then the left it’s been awhile for my ski days kayaking is my favorite for spring summer and fall. When winter indoors calls I have my spin bike although it’s used almost every day.
Today was a walk outside at lunch and spin this evening. I logged and tracked and stayed under.9 -
Yes to all 3. Worked late so not a good work out day. I had to meet 20 minutes commitment by logging my steps those are usually extras. Oh well bring on Friday!9

Ranger Rick's?
I enjoy...
...snowboarding but spendy and seasonal
...kickboxing but depends on instructor
...fox trot, ballroom dancing, east coast swing, lindy hop, etc but depends on good lead
...volleyball but difficult to round up teams with relatively equal skills
...my go to unfettered - walking everywhere - beach, trails, national parks, local parks, neighborhood, even the mall when it's raining, etc.6 -

I love your question about different types of exercise! When the weather is nice, my favorite activities are kayaking and bike riding. Kayaking especially. I can't wait to get back to it in a month or two.5 -

@surreptitially
You don't necessarily have to stay under your macros. Assuming no specific metabolic condition (like diabetes, kidney disease, etc), generally one considers protein and fats macros minimums and carbs macros can fall anywhere (high or low). Getting enough calories is significantly more important to properly fuel your body and protect your muscles and organs while losing weight. Hope that helps.
Yes x 3 today.7 -
