We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.
This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.

Today's topic: We're halfway through the month...
How would you assess your progress so far in June? What have you done right? What have you done wrong? How can you do better?

June has been bad for me when it comes to healthful eating and losing weight. I went off the rails for several days, and it has shown up on the scale. No excuse. I just let my control get away from me. This was especially true of buying food from restaurants/fast food rather than making it myself.
But, this past weekend I restructured things. I went back to food prep for the week. I am working from the lab again, and I am taking my breakfast and lunch with me. I am controlling what goes in my mouth. Because I am working in my office/lab, I am trying to get up and walk when the opportunity avails itself.
I am not seeking perfection. But, I am seeking better.1 -
So far I'm down a bit this month. Still "working the plan" on WW, plus logging on MFP.2

Scale is creeping up. Trying a couple of modest changes.1

I'm in a much better mood this month. It really helps to have part of my work routine back to a new normal. Interacting with people in real life is a good thing for me.
Getting part of my work routine back has necessitated changes to my workout routine but I have been doing strength training on real machines again! And today I got a walk in on the treadmill after we closed for the morning. Nice to have that option with the heat and humidity returning.
I feel like I've stopped the upward creep on the scale. Now to get more serious about moving it downward.2 -
I am keeping steady in June. In fact, I have lost nearly ten pounds during the pandemic.
I have time for meal prep while WFH and that means more salads as well.
Also, I refuse to do any dining outside of the home and that includes take out. So my diet is far more controlled. And I am absolutely fine with that.2 -
On a technical level I'm doing much better. My stats below bear out my progress. As far as June is concerned I've loss 2.8 lbs so I'm happy with that progress. Mentally ? I didn't get such great results from my echocardiogram test from last Thursday. It's showing my EF (ejection fraction) on the low side 35-40% range and normal range is 50-75%. Basically the left ventricle isn't performing as it should due to the fact that it is enlarged and I won't go into any additional tech terms other than it's a concern and I'm now as of yesterday taking a small does of spironolactone 12.5 mg. So a new one for me and I'm just learning about it.
So for now I feel good and ready to finish getting healed up from the wounds (hopefully by the end of this month) so signing off for now.

@imastar2 - I run a M.S. in Clinical Exercise Physiology program. My students to on to work in cardiac rehab and non-invasive cardiac diagnostics. All those terms you are using are very familiar to me.
I hope the medication adjustment helps.1 -
@gadgetgirIIL Thanks for your comment. After a pacemaker and 5 weeks later a aortic valve replacement I became very discouraged when the Cardiologist prescribed the drug. I didn't handle it too well Monday afternoon or Tuesday. I seem to have made some adjustment to it. I just got watch it very closely as it interacts negatively with Lisinipril somewhat negatively with Atorvastatin. Something else to keep up with but got to trust my Cardiologist. 🙂0
