fairy_daisy wrote: »And I managed three yesses again for the last day of June! Stayed within my calories (just), logged everything, and did some exercise - a socially distant walk with a friend who walks much faster than me, so felt like a workout!
I think this is the longest I've managed to keep to consistent logging (almost a month) and the MFP community really helps keep me motivated and checking in. Thank you so much for organising this @RangerRickL. I feel like whatever I do, I always start out with good motivation and feeling committed, but sticking to it for a second month may be tougher - I hope carrying on with the UAC will keep me going. See you in July!
@fairy_daisy We’re here for you! You are crafting new habits, which took me a couple of months. I had to learn to spread my food out over the day. Log dinner BEFORE eating it, so I didn’t have an OOPS that could have been averted, spread protein throughout the day, etc.Ending the month with another pass day.
Not sure why, but I was just so hungry all day and felt completely drained of energy.
Started off tracking everything, but by this evening I gave up.. so definitely over the calories
Exercise was only a 1.5 hour dog walk.
But Wednesday is one of my running mornings, so I'll be starting the month off strong!
This group has been a huge help for me this month. I'm definitely motivated to be in the winners circle for July!
@ajdvegan
A 1.5 hour walk is exercise!!!
I wonder if you need a few more calories for your level of exercise. Marathon, not a sprint... 🐢 not a 🐇 and all that!
Have a great run tomorrow!4 -
Wow, amazing winners circle! Well done everyone! And well done everyone not in it, all winners, excellent!
Exercise yes 10 min quigong, 30 min yoga, 210 min cleaning, 50 min walk, 20 min gardening
Tracking yes calories yes3 -

Exercise - Yes - felt a bit stronger than usual on a 5k with the running group tonight
Tracked - Yes
Calories - Yes, well under with no difficulty
I've lost 6 lbs this month! I suspect I've gained some muscle too, so those 6 lbs feel extra meaningful. Thank you to all of you for helping me stay on track!
July 1 is my birthday, and my plans for July 4 and 5 also involve a lot of temptation. July UAC is going to be a tough one for me. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
@jillebean86 Happy Birthday (early!!)
I hope you have a fabulous day!
Re: July
You can do it! You set the calories for each day. My mantra: “Focus on the celebration & friends/family - not the food. It’s just food that I won’t specifically remember even 4 days later lol4 -

💚
Even when I’m tired or sad or too hot, somehow I find myself at our front door (created a station there with everything I need for walking/hiking) putting on my hat, shoes, mask, grabbing water container, etc. and out I go. I always return happier & energized. I’m very grateful for UAC❣️8 -

@jillebean86, Happy Birthday!! I know what you mean about the July UAC. I have three days that I know of that will, most likely, be "over" days and I will not be logging, so they will definitely be Pass Days as well....a family barbecue at my sister's house celebrating my Dad's 85th and on overnighter at my BIL's cottage, where there will be lots of yummy cocktails!! I will try to get in a good walk beforehand, to bank as many calories as possible and to mitigate any damage on the scales, but other than that I am just going to enjoy. I may try to eat mindfully, as in reminding myself that a small serving of whatever tastes exactly the same as a large serving of whatever, and if I eat it slow, it will last just as long, but again, my main focus will be to just enjoy. For me, the UAC is about all the other days in between....how I manage those will determine if I have a good month or not, regardless of the Winner's Circle!!5 -
June 30 - pass day
So my daughter, her husband, my grandkids 4 1/2 and 22 month old all have COVID. 4 1/2 yr old grandson had heart surgery as infant due to heart defect. They fixed the defect that he couldn’t live with but he needs another surgery when he stops growing. They don’t think he’s at a higher risk but not a lot of data on it. I want to fly to Texas but won’t because the last thing they need is to be worried about me. I have been missing them so much (having lived there a year after his heart surgery and then again for a year when the youngest born - i have never gone more than 4 weeks without seeing them and every time I fly down my grandson would fly back with me and stay for a few weeks) and now this ... I’m trying not to make it about me buts it’s hard. Anyway, I am so thankful for FaceTime. They are all experiencing somewhere in the middle of mild to moderate symptoms so that’s good. I figure my wallowing (sitting on the couch clutching my phone all day) isn’t going to help them, me or anyone else so I’m going to get back on track today.7 -

That sounds soo tough ... when being pragmatic is what you HAVE to do for eveyone's sake, yet it seems to fly in the face of everything you WANT to do. And 'not-normal" has been the norm for such an extended period of time now (I remember you mentioning the early-days when FaceTime communication was new to both you and grandchild)
Know that we are all sending you virtual support, and hopes for full recovery for them.4 -

@readyornot1234
It’s good to let your emotions out. And also good to, as you say, recognize that being as healthy as we can be is what will help the most. This will end. You will hug them again. You will be so proud to have the energy & health to do active things with your grandchildren.
Make a list of things you love:
Particular songs 80’s are fun!!
🦋 butterflies Or pandas 🐼
Sunsets or the 🏖
Reading beach books or dense classic literature
... whatever you love
And when it gets to much..do them.
Note that the feelings expand & contract. Use your list when they expand to “weather” them!!0 -
@MadisonMolly2017 - thank you. They seem to be doing okay. They’re tired but mild so far. It’s hard not to be there though2
