I have a beagle-terrier mix that was rescued from the Roswell city pound. Darwin is his name, because he is very adaptable2

Your dog sounds impetuous.....is she easy to train?1

I have tried for two days to upload a photo to this thread. Fails every time. The usual MFP glitches. Will try with the computer tomorrow.2

Hi. Nice to meet you all, and good idea for a group. Not all about food and working out !
I don't own a dog but i've been a dog walker for 10 years so walk plenty every day which helps with the calorie burning3 -
A dog walker!!! What an awesome job!
My dog is easy to train. She is a dream and a great protection dog, trained to protect me. She just takes it too seriously sometimes. Plus she has Lyme disease so I baby her way too much ....

This is Daisy. She's a Chesapeake Bay retriever. Her whelping date was July 2nd - she just had her first birthday. Which is the same as mine. An interesting coincidence.
She makes sure I get some walking or hiking almost every day.
And you have to keep an eye out for that tail. She can clear the coffee table with a couple of strokes. HAHA!4 -
I heard those dogs are the best swimmers!0

Yes, they are excellent swimmers. And they can use their tails as a rudder to steer themselves in the water.
They were bred from some Newfoundland puppies in Maryland and probably crossed with flat coated retrievers and curly coated retrievers. That is probably the origin of the wavy coat on the back. They were used by market duck hunters in the Chesapeake Bay from the 1800's to the 1930's.
I have some video of her swimming, but I can't post it. MFP doesn't support videos in the group threads.

That's too bad!!! I would love to see Daisy swim! My lab used to swim and I miss that...at 9 she is now retired and enjoys the couch more than the water๐ค
I love Daisy's face.0 -
My dog avoids water at all costs, except to drink, of course. When the dog park is muddy he will only walk In the dry areas. I've never given him a bath because he cleans himself like a cat and never smells bad.3

Hey, y'all! My name is Rhonda, and my family's furry fitness companion is our 11 year old Basset hound Merle. He loves our daily walks, as long as we let him include some rambling to investigate scents.3

I have a German Shorthair Pointer, she is such a character, I love her to bits. Iโm going crazy with her whining, she has to tell ya about everything that is going on. LOL
This group should be a lot of fun. Thank you for starting it.4 -

Hi, Glenda! Love that expression on your dog's face. Good to see you here! ๐โโ๏ธ1 -
Hi! I am happy to be in a group where our animals keep us moving (and so happy.) I have three pups , two are 13 years old, and the German Shepherd, my boy, is 3.5 years old. I cannot imagine life without them.

Hi everyone. My name is Lulu (or Linda) and my best girl Penny Lane turned 9 on March 1st. We rescued her from the animal shelter when she was about 3 months old. They told us she had a rare disease but we adopted her anyway and it turns out that she's just fine and very healthy. Not sure what breed she is but has some Boxer in her and maybe some Pitt, but no one's really sure.
We live in a little horse town in So Cal and she and I walk the trails here 4 or 5 days a week normally. I'm on a bit of a break right now, although I'm still walking, because I had my right hip replaced 6 weeks ago. Funny thing is, we still walk together everyday, just around the pool and she walks right next to me as if she had her leash on..........so cute.
I've enjoyed seeing all the pics of your dogs, such special creatures! What would we do without them I wonder?

Hi, I got this link from another group I'm in. I'm not sure if I can share pictures but I'll try. I found a pic of them! but our 2 seniors are no long with us.We have 5 dogs, one little one is a grand dog whoes staying with us then a 14yr old chi, a 7 yr old pug/chi mix, a mutt (50 lbs)& a GSD, around 3-4 yrs
we had to put our 2 seniors to sleep in May, a pitt/boxer mix & a black shep mix, I'm still heart broken & it honestly feels like we hardly have any dogs & it's so quiet here5 -

Welcome everyone!!!!! I created this group because I am (as all of you) a dog and animal lover. My 3 dogs keep me sane during my training and everyday events! It is my way to pay homage to that huge unconditional love they give us!3

This is my Harley girl. Yeah, she could be pretty judgmental. I escorted her to the Bridge last November when she was about 12-13. She's about 8 in this photo. I miss her every day. I'll get another dog, one day. All the dog accounts I follow on Twitter, Instagram, and FB seem to be pushing me towards Golden Retrievers, but I'd love to get a GSD or Irish Wolfhound. What I know is, whatever I get will come from the local Pound or HSA and there will be one less dog looking for his/her furever home.
This is Sienna. She's my daughter's ESA and both of them live with me. Sometimes, if my daughter feels like sleeping in and it's not too warm, I'll take Sienna with me on my occasional weekend walk/runs.

Hi, my name is Carmela. My walking buddy is Cayenne. Caye is an 8yo Rhodesian ridgeback mix from the local Humane Society. This year she started walking in virtual 5K and 10K events with me. Typically I walk those events in person without her. Her "sister" Kitty is 10yo adopted at the same time. Kitty stays indoors, and that's the way she likes it. I'm happy to join this group!

Daisy hanging out in the irrigation ditch on last evening's walk. "Hey, there's water over here, in case you didn't know that, boss!"

I have 4. The yellow lab(Daisy) is my oldest, 12yrs. The dapple doxie is 9, brown catahoula mix is around 7, and the little brown/red boy is a 1yr old chiweenie. The Doxie doesn't appreciate a good walk. He likes to play dead. The other 3 are always up for outside time. I mostly just walk them around my property.4 -
I love seeing all the beautiful dogs here! I currently have one dog of my own. Her name is Bree, and she is a one year old Border Collie/Australian Cattle Dog/Beagle and Schnauzer (plus something else undetectable). She was our ninth foster, and we couldnโt imagine letting her go. We found out she was actually scheduled to be euthanized until a foster in Oklahoma offered to take her in until she was transported north for rescue. Thinking about this makes me so sad and grateful for that foster. Bree has been with us for almost a year now, and tomorrow she is welcoming a new foster brother. She loves hiking, squeaky toys and other dogs.
