I'm back from a wonderful outdoor camping experience with my wife, adult children and grandchildren. Although my true 70th birthday is August 13, this week was when we could all be together. We observed appropriate distancing and spent all week outside. Each family had their own tent. The weather was pleasant and I am grateful that we could find a way to be together in a well ventilated environment.
The scale tells me that I did not gain any weight, but I was unable to track calories.
I'm back to the healthy habits too.
I hope you have a great weekend with whomever is important to you!

@RangerRickL So pleased for you that you could meet with your family to celebrate your 70th! I am jealous! I would give my right arm to be able to go camping with my kids, daughters-in-law and granddaughter, even if my knees would creak! Might just give that knee as well! Used to love camping!
I celebrated, if that's the word, my 69th on Monday, but just with my partner who has Alzheimer's. I got lots of touching messages, calls and sweet little presents and cards in the post from my kids. While they made me feel happy and blessed, they also made me cry, because I still have no idea when I will be able to see them again. So, 14th July, Bastille Day, when I had booked for my birthday lunch at our one and only Michelin starred restaurant in Montpellier, with Joseph, my partner, an annual pleasure and planned #Skip Day, I ended up in tears, feeling sorry for myself that instead of having a joyful lunch with my kids, daughters-in-law, granddaughter and stepson and girlfriend, or with my Mum, sister, brother, in-laws, nephews and nieces, I was scheduled to have lunch with my partner. Our relationship has broken down to the point where I look after him, his finances, organisation of his life. I have been lucky in that I have been able to call in outside help and that I have managed to organise him a studio of his own around the corner. I see him every day, but he gets extra outside help and I don't have to be his main carer. His Alzheimer's is still not so bad that he cannot do normal, simple, daily things for himself. His only son, who I am very close to, is very supportive, but lives in London, while we are in the South of France, and is coping with a girlfriend with terminal Stage 4 Breast Cancer, second time round within two years.
It didn't help that my usually very positive Mum in Holland also had a bit of a dip!
But, counting my blessings, Montpellier is still opening up. I went to work today, examining in Toulouse! Ridiculous: Train@ 7am, back at 8.45pm, examined 4 (!) candidates. It did me good to get out. Also pleased to see most people wore masks and kept their distance.
Sorry about long rant.
Exercise: Yes, 40 minutes walking, 5 of which lugging fizzy water
Calories: Surprisingly, yes, stayed under budget, thanks to canny choices at stations (work!)
Tracking: Yes, logged everything. This is usually the hardest of all ...
I'll keep going in spite of dips and blips.20 -

Welcome back, Rick. @Chinkiri hope you get to have a bigger celebration soon.
Yesx3 day. About 90 mins pushing around a stroller, running behind my kid’s scooter and chasing him in the playground. I discovered another children’s park with a slide sturdy enough for adults. Needless to say I had a lot of fun on it today 😂. My toddler was thrilled to see me on the slide6 -
@RangerRickL Oh how wonderful!!! Happy early Birthday & we’ll all celebrate you on your real bday!!!!! So happy for you, Rick!!❤️2

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes, 34 minutes C25K training in the morning, then 36 minutes C25K training in the evening. Hot and humid here in Southwest Michigan.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes5 -
@Chinkiri
I just wanted to let you know we’re here for you. You’re handling a lot - a few years are allowed I think you are very strong. Anniversaries & birthdays & other regular family & friend events raise a lot of feelings for many of us.
Prior to COVID, my husband & I began saying “Everything changes.” I have found it lets me release some of the sorrow, stress, etc. By expecting changes, possibly we are less “thrown” by them. Might not be for you, but it helps me SO much, I thought I’d mention it. And Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!
PS I don’t know when I’ll see our grown son again. He lives overseas. I keep busy, and stay positive during our weekly calls. He offered to fly here & quarantine 2 weeks in an AirBNB, but we all agreed the risks of the airplane weren’t worth it. I’d never want him or his wife to get COVID. It helps to see his face. For Mother’s Day they invited us to a Zoom dinner party. Gave us a tour of their place etc.
Times like these call for creativity - just as Rick’s family did
Big hugs & best of luck to you partner’s son’s girlfriend.7 -
@RangerRickL Early congratulations!

Day 18 - Yes x3
40 minute vinyasa yoga. Very refreshing, still tired but better than yesterday. This heat lately is ridiculous, no wonder I haven't gone outside lately. And having to be out there with a mask on top of it all, ugh! I miss my daily walks but that's just life I guess. Just gotta be patient and wait for Autumn to finally come 🙏
@RangerRickL welcome back and happy very early birthday lol! 70 is the new 30 when you stick to healthy habits as you age, I wish you many more wonderful years!
@Chinkiri happy birthday as well! we're sorry to hear you're going through that, i'm sure your partner appreciates everything you do them. it's good to let out a little steam & vent, and it's understandable to feel frustrated over such circumstances. we're here for you7 -
Yes, yes, and yes. A good day!6

Yes x 3 for Saturday, but I have to use my last pass day for Friday. Didn't log in after dinner so I'll just post it here.
I'm hopeful to try and make it the rest of the month without a pass, eek! Too bad we can't buy unused pass days from each other8 -

@Chinkiri so sorry you are having to go through so much. Sometimes we just have to grieve for what we're lost. Our outlets of dealing with our daily stresses have changed. We've lost so much in terms of association, family ties..ect. Cry if you need to. Sometimes you just have to get it out. Hang in there.
