Hello, I'm excited about this group but a bit hesitant, as I have not been able to consistently log-in beyond 2 wks . I have over 60 pounds to lose to get to my goal weight, but I'm fine with working on my short term goal of 10 pounds. Ok so, I'm 40+ years. I'm a divorced mother of four children ranging from 10 to 21. I have been a vegan for over 5 years and a lacto-ovo vegetarian for more than a decade before that. I live a moderately active lifestyle, which includes HIIT workouts , strength training, and gardening (corn, peppers, watermelon, cantaloupe, mammoth sunflowers, pumpkins, and blueberries).8

Hiya, I am doing well and want to keep it up. I am returning to work Aug 20 and that is historically where things get a bit messy for me - finding excuses not to exercise/ not logging every meal/ not weighing in etc and of course old habits just resurface. I am really determined to focus on my long term health and fitness though and recently have learned how important it is to prioritise my own health first.
I am 56, a single mum to a recently left for uni son, live in Singapore and have (until this month) been a bit of a couch potato. I have a lot to lose so I am focusing on shorter goals - I think in Kgs so my goal is now 37.5kg away (I think that is around 80 - 85 pounds?), but I have lost 5kg so far, so I am closer than where I was in June!
I am a sucker for a carb and I have to be wary of high impact exercise while I am so heavy so I have started swimming and swim for an hour daily. I swim hard - I am by no means an athlete but I push myself and I usually guzzle a litre of water right after so I am sweating. I have fallen in LOVE with it - my fitness has increased so fast and I have no knee pain etc, apart from checking my water intake it has probably had the most profound effect on my overall mental state and feeling of well being.
Although I have lost 11 pounds, I don't 'see' it yet and I am having to pay a mind control game every-danged-day to stick with it.
Speaking of which I must dash off to the pool now. Not sure what else to blab on about anyway.8 -
Good morning. I am a 67 year old woman who enjoys a lot of different activities. I love to bike, kayak, garden, camp, hike and just being outdoors. I also love to sit on my bum and watch tv late at night. I am horrible at journaling and rarely make it beyond a few days. I started with Myfitnesspal and have completed 2 entire days. Yea! I have watched my weight creep up and up although I have walked sometimes as much as 28 miles in a week. My blood work came back good and I do not have any conditions or disabilities that would keep me from losing weight. Enough about me, I am hoping that a challenge with other folks will encourage me to stay on track with nutrition and exercise.7

Hi ,
I am back again for another month of accountability. This is such a nice group to do so😁.
The lockdown in my country has kept me at home since March 15 and I have used the time to get fit again. Am trying to lose weight which has crept up on me over the last 15 years. The goal is 15 kg ( 33 lbs ) and I am halfway there in two and a half months. Another 7.5 kg to go at least and building strength and flexibility. It is just taking longer and some knee and back issues remain which hold me back a bit but trying not to give up .
Thanks for creating this Challenge @RangerRickL.6 -
I'm back and ready to rock and roll! I believe I did the March (and possibly April?) UAC this year and then took some time off...mostly to stuff my face with ice cream and tacos. I'm back for good, now. Thanks for having me!6

Hello everyone, this challenge is going to be hard for me, but necessary. I am overweight and I treat food as entertainment. It has to stop.8

Good morning. This is just the things that I need during a time where everyday brings new challenges and new joys.
I am back on track to my healthy life goals. I turned 50 on July 1, and I am determined to make this milestone a great one. I have currently lost 96 lbs over the past 2.5 years. At one point, I was down 115 lbs but have gradually are gained about 20 lbs. I am on a positive path again and excited to see where it leads.
I love yoga, swimming, and walking with my sweet pupper Jake.
My goal for the month of August is to succeed with the UAC Challenge, and to reach 232 lbs.
Nice to meet you all!!!6 -
Hi Everyone Time to kick it in gear and get my food diary together. Good luck and choices in August!4

Good morning! Thank you for welcoming me into this group. I am a 46 year old married mom of 3 teenage boys. Like someone else wrote above, I have a hard time sticking with recording all of my meals and exercise for much beyond 10 days or so, and then of course it all falls apart. I'm in a state of flux currently, as my employer still has not ironed out the details for us to return to work in light of COVID 19 concerns (I am a teacher in California). I am hoping to use this time of uncertainty by putting my body in motion everytime I start to get anxious about my work situation. I think in my brain I get away with being overweight because I have healthy indicators, like my blood work always comes back in the good ranges and my blood pressure is normal. I know that I am not healthy though, and have nowhere near the stamina and endurance I did when I was of normal weight. I said I didn't want to go into 40 being overweight (from childbirth) and I didn't. I have to get a hold of this problem now so that I don't go I to 50 with a body that makes me unhappy.
I look forward to working through all of this with each of you!5 -
Hi Everyone - it's a pleasure to join ranks with you! I've been hearing about the UAC and felt ready to see the difference this kind of accountability generates. My hope is that it will increase my focus and encourage me!
I'm a 31 year old woman who is a follower of Jesus Christ. At His side I will triumph over destructive eating - I know this because he's given me freedom from several other addictions. I'm a single woman with no children who lives in White Bear Lake, MN. I have a 20 year old cat who I affectionately call 'old goat'. I work full time as a scientist at a pharmaceutical company. I have a significant amount of weight to lose, but I am not daunted. Just like everything else, one day at a time is the way.
One logistics question for whoever can answer: where do I post my daily results. It appears that there is a different forum for each day?4 -
I’m back. July was birthday month and involved too much sugar but at least there was plenty of exercise. I live in South Africa and am loving the warmer winter which allows me to swim in the sea and jump in with my seals regularly. Yip, I said seals! I’m a zookeeper who gets to play with seals, spiders, snakes and penguins. Work is great at the moment as there are no visitors and we work shifts of 4 days on, 8 days off. Leaving me plenty of time to train jiu jitsu (a grappling martial art). I can only train with my little group of 5 but it’s better than last year when I wasn’t able to train at all thanks to a broken arm, kidney donation and some shoulder issues. I’m about 7 kgs from my goal but getting there slowly as I’m still building back strength from my year off. Happy to be healthy in this crazy pandemic year.3

The daily pages are for check-ins where you answer the 3 questions to the level of detail you prefer (as we get going you will see a wiiiiiddde variety of styles.) The rules are flexible enough that you could post three-at-a-go if that is more your style than every day ... but it gets fun and interesting to see how others are doing and there is always an interesting "conversation starter" or info point at the very top. This also makes it easier to scroll through looking for your own icon if you were wondering "DID i post, or not??"
For more sustained conversations, requests for ideas or "this neat thing happened" (so that you don't have to try to remember WHICH day it was) ... there is also a month-long "What's On Your Mind Today?" thread.2 -
Hi, I am looking forward to getting active again in the UAC. I have missed this group! Hope everyone is doing well, and feel free to add me as an MFP friend!5

Hi I'm Helly from Australia. Been tracking Calories for about a month now so thought why not join a challenge. Started running and learnt to swim last year and now adding calisthenics to my workouts building up to a proper push up hopefully soon. It is never too late to learn something new and start anything at the beginning. Keen to lose 15kg lost 2-3kg depending on the day so far. Happy Tracking 🤗4

Greetings, all! Welcome to everyone who is new, and I’m glad to be virtually hanging out with the other repeat offenders.
I wasn’t going to join this month, simply because while the change in my job scope does get my exercise knocked out beyond twenty minutes a day? I am no longer afforded much desk time these days, so logging really has become challenging for me. Obviously, I’m here, and the reason is twofold; one is that I’d probably fall completely off the logging wagon without a goal to shoot for, and the other is that I’m hoping to be flying a desk again within the next 2-3 weeks because I’m job hunting.
I had only 9 pounds to go before I reached my weight goal, but thinking I’d like to drop that by another five pounds, so 14 left, it is.
My husband and I are empty nesters with four grown kids between the two of us, have just adopted three beautiful feral kittens and have six elderly papillon dogs and a 15 y/o rescue mutt that we are spoiling so that they enjoy their golden years.
As always, glad to be here!4 -
Hi everyone! Back for month #20! Looking forward to another great month!5
-
DH and i are empty nesters (one son, lives in another part of the same town) no pets at this time (maaaaayyyybe another dog eventually. Leaving it to when DH is ready for a next-one). I fly a desk (off-site till further notice) when I'm not in the Records Room (no need to go there at the moment, so no operational need to be physically "on-site" at all. This suits me just fine as I am nearly 62 (come October) and have 2 chronic-but-well-controled respiratory issues that you would never know I have. Another 3.5 years (yes, I AM counting) till retirement.
I re-joined UAC this March, just before "Canada Shut Down". By April I was back at stabiliation / maintenance, and have successfully remained there ever since. So 4 months so far. I now know better than to leave here having achieved that milestone (note: NOT "finish-line")
Y'all are my virtual social network, and I love to know how you are doing in all your various parts of the world with varying situations.3 -
Hi everyone, this is my first month here. I'm a 50 something yo woman (I quit counting). I am looking forward to some added motivation to account for what I eat/drink and exercise. Thanks for putting this together.3

Hi all, I’m a 43 year old woman with three teenaged boys. I have been back to work for a while but am still managing to keep up my walking goals so far. I am just over half way through my weight loss. I have 40 -ish pounds left to go. This is my first month doing this challenge and I’m really excited !3
