Helping Shelley out here. She usually sets our discussion page up, but I imagine she's putting the bad guys in jail. That's what Sheriff Ronan told me when I asked him, "Sheriff Ronan, where is my friend, Deputy Shelley?" He was in his Sheriff's car..."She's putting bad guys in jail." And continued down the hall to arrest Grandpa for some terrible crime. I go the other way down the hall to the jail...which is the library...and I looked but couldn't find her. Sheriff Ronan shrugged his shoulders as he deposited Grandpa in his cell and closed the door.

Chris thanks so much for getting this going for us. I am an airhead. Just spending as much time with my mom as I can. She is leaving us on Monday. So if I am absent that is why.
Shelley0 -
You are not an airhead...Ronan said you were busy. Ya gotta listen to the Big Kid!! I hope your mom is doing okay.
Chris1 -
I tried on my honesty pants. They still fit. Not any looser though. But it's been a tough month.1
-
Shelley,
So glad you are getting time to spend with your mom. You probably are an airhead (most my good friends are) but choosing your mom as a priority is solid heart logic.

What a beautiful cool morning here in PA...can this be fall coming? I hope!0

Hi Karen,
It's 80 now on the California coast (no A/C because we almost-never need it). Expect it to reach 100 later. No beach because of Covid. So windows and drapes are closed to retain cool night air and fan is circulating. Anticipating marathon catnaps for both felines and humans.
It must be especially hard for people inland, like @cpanus Chris, where it's so much hotter, ugh! And shudder to think how "kiln-like" conditions might affect wildfires.
But praying for the best until all this passes and California can reopen. :ohwell:
Hope you have an absolutely beautiful day.
Paula

We are headed to 109 today. It was 75 at 5:00 a.m. ...we did not walk. The kids did and cut it short because it was too hot and too smoky. Around 9:00 a.m. we had to close up the house because of the smoke. The fans they are a whirlin'!
Sending good thoughts to all the fire fighters and everyone helping. Looking forward to things calming down.
Chris1 -
Hope everyone is keeping well. I have felt off today...a bit dizzy off and on (happens when I am feeling exhausted)...so taking it easy today. Did take Belle out to get afew tops. We hit the jackpot and found 6 tops she loves and fit well. Clothes shopping is a challenge for her (and probably all of us!) So good stuff!
No exercise for me today..will see what tomorrow brings...
Karen1 -
Looks like it's a REST DAY for us today!
Someone should tell Shelley.1 -
It's 81 degrees outside at 6:30 in the morning!! It's only going to get to 95 today...so says my phone.
I did workout yesterday for almost an hour, and we just got back from walking our 2.09 miles.
It's going to be a good week.
Chris0 -
Oh my gosh everyone. These fires and smoke everywhere is so horrible. I support our firefighters even more now.
Well this friendly airhead went on a drive yesterday after my mom and sister left. Headed to Colorado. Yes they are having a huge wildfire. But I thought no big deal. The roads are open after all. (Yes Airhead move). So in Loveland and Fort Collins the street lights were on before 1300. (1 PM). That is how dark it was with all the ash and smoke.
So Roland was right Chris, I was busy. Buying plants and corals when I should have been sheltering in place! What ever was I thinking. I did get a really nice medium sized Dragon statue to add to the yard. And some new corals and a really pretty Hibiscus. Which I can't plant yet due to the heavy snow covering my yard. Which is also why I can't show you my new statue. It is buried in the broken tree limbs due to the heavy snow landing on trees still leafed out. The peach tree is not looking good. But I will take snow over fires any time.
Paula I would call it a rest day. Accept I have already been out to knock the heavy snow off my small peach tree. Maybe after I clean up some I can rest. And our chain saw is on the mountain property. So the branches will have to wait a bit. We were also going to bury my daughters 14 year old cat who passed away yesterday up there. Can't get up there right now. Not going to go on another Air Head drive this close to yesterdays.
Chris I think I will just get on my treadmill.
Shelley0 -
I feel for everyone effected by these fires and pray everyone stays safe.
Shelley did you say snow? Isn’t this too early even for you? This weather is absolutely crazy but isn’t everything in 2020.
Take care ladies!
Kathy1 -
The weather here was wonderful for the first time in weeks. Cool and foggy. Was going to walk, but decided to have a day off. The previous rest days did not count; I was comatose from the heat and they were neither restful nor enjoyable. :noway:
Fires are too far away to see; so pretending they don't exist. Except that someone found a pet rabbit on a beach near the fire and I've been hooking her up with pet-reunification websites and stuff. She is still evacuated but her house is standing - a small miracle, the fire came within 15 feet of it.
paula1 -
Kathy - I agree with you....2020 may go down as the craziest year on record!
We need to keep ourselves healthy ladies
We found out this weekend that my father in law had COVID. He also has ALS which is such a terrible fatal disease, so his immune system is shot. Ups and downs....he had a mild heart attack, he was vented, and now off. Worst part is his wife Helen can't see him in the VA....can't just chat 1x a day by phone. Yesterday was a good day....take it day by day I guess
I took it easy this weekend. I did not feel well at all. Really feel on the verge of exhaustion. So trying to take care of myself as much as I can. Likely crazy work and covid stress. That and everything else in my house seems to be breakingyesterday the washer went. Mama Mia;)
I was hoping to be able to turn the air conditioning off here. But now it's humid again. So no dice. Looking forward to some of those cooler weather is here getting in Georgia
Have a great Wednesday!

My eating has been off this week. Darn it snacking lol! Trying to reel it in
How's everyone else doing?
Karen10 -
Trying hard to control eating. Doing pretty good. Made chicken/cabbage soup yesterday will have it for lunch today. Yumm. Not exercising or walking is taking it's toll tho.
Chris0 -
Oh my goodness Kathy it is to early even for here. My peaches might not have been destroyed. I am so glad you are back with us again.
Got to run
Shelley0 -
Karen, Good luck with everything. 2020 stress is a real thing. Hope you and your dad and everyone else are okay.
Chris, I'm having a really hard time controlling night snacks and alcohol. My weight has gotten back up to 183, Chicken/cabbage soup sounds delish. Having healthy foods in the fridge is a must. I've got turkey jerky, tuna, deli-sliced turkey, nuts and fake cheeses. Just have to stop eating too much of them.
Shelley, I'm going to try to fight night snacking by challenging myself to do a distraction before I head into the kitchen: drink a quart of water; or 25 wall push-ups. What do you think, will that work? I have to pull out that list you wrote for me when you first taught me body-weight workouts. It isn't daunting, so it's easy to do. That was what got me hooked on workouts. Need to get back to it.
Kathy,.
:flowerforyou: paula1 -
Paula I like your thinking. So I am going to do the distraction technique with you. I should have read this post first. Not going to admit to the bag of gummies I ate before I saw it. Nopey nope nope! I am glad I got you hooked. Lets get hooked together again!
So I am sore from my previous workout. Nice feeling.
Shelley0 -
Dang it, Shelley, you're so easy.
Double-dog-dare-you
and you jump right in!
But it worked for me yesterday. Was heading into the kitchen in the evening. Wasn't hungry, just had the nibbles. Knew I didn't need it but as succumbing to "just one won't hurt". Then stopped and did ten wall pushups (which felt good) and found theSTRENGTH
to fight it. Stopped the night munchies. Lost a pound. Fingers crossed.

This has been a sit on my fanny and do nothing day. We have had Bean this afternoon because the gardeners are working at Sara's, and he won't go outside to go to the bathroom when they are there so we keep him. I'm reading and that's it. Might be able to workout w/Pete tomorrow depending on the air quality. We'll see.
Chris1 -
Paula that is so awesome! Double-Dog-Dare-me anyday. Heck, I even have the dogs! Muahahaha
Chris does everyone have gardeners there? I need to get me some of them. I had that kind of day yesterday. Did some gardening, since your gardeners did not show, and then did nothing! So much fun.
So last night we bought a new pump so that we could just pump the 26 gallons of water for the aquarium changes upstairs. Boy did that work slick! Now I don't have to carry it if I don't want. We went up on the mountain with daughter and granddaughter and cooked a hotdog outside over a very small fire. I dumped snow on it to make sure it was out before we left. It was so much fun.
Shelley0 -
My snacking has not been good....glad it is a new week!
