We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.
This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.
Monday - 88olds (George)
Tuesday - whathapnd (Emmie)p
Wednesday - misterhub (Greg)
Thursday - Wild Card!!!
Friday - imastar2 (Derrick)
Today's Topic: Something New
What is something new in your weight loss program. Exercise, food, routines, anything new.
How did you find your way to that new thing? How is it going? In general are you always looking for new stuff, or are you more a creature of habit?

What's new is the commitment I made to myself, and have kept for almost 15 weeks. It's just a bunch of small things I do every day:
Morning quiet time
Track
No more than one diet pop
Arm exercises
Limit hours I eat (this one's iffy)
250 steps in 7 or more hours
Gratutude
And some I do 3x a week:
Arm exercises w/weights
Balance board
Modified planks
I've added time, reps, pounds, and exercises over time. Recently I added a daily dance with Simplysmiling02 on connect. It's fun!
I keep track on a list app which has a satisfying ding when I check things off. This helps me stay engaged.
I'm at the point where it's easier to stay OP then to have to struggle to get back on (that's definitely new).
And I think it's been a decade or more since I've consistently exercised this long. Maybe close in 2015, but I don't think so. I'm feeling great! Still a long way to go, but it's a definite bonus to feel good along the way!

DW is out of town this week so the kitchen is all mine to experiment. Yesterday I made pasta. Today I saute’d mushrooms. Half went in an omelet at lunch. The rest went in the leftover pasta.
Tomorrow I think I’m making a batch of oatmeal and banana cookies. Had the wild thought that I might make one of those diet soda cakes. I can dispose of the evidence before DW gets home.
Also have some cottage cheese to try some more pasta in white sauce. We’ll see if any of those things make it into the regular rotation. I’m really a creature of habit at heart.2 -
Not much if anything new on my end except consistent daily traking without fail. Good or bad not skipping anything. Keeping the attitude that it went in my mouth so track it.
Two new meds as of last Thursday for protate. Two new procedures this week for new health issue. I'll report on that later.1 -
Need to focus more. I know what to do so nothing new.1

Broccoli slaw is a new thing for me. My wife makes up a big batch every week, and then I make a very simple lunch to take to work by putting some chicken on a serving of the broccoli slaw, with a bit of low-cal Asian dressing, and then I can just nuke it at work. It's super easy and really filling.
I am generally a creature of habit, but if I find something that makes my habits easier to manage, that's a win-win!0
