Good morning All!
Hope you're all doing well and staying safe. As I sit here with the news on in the background, I'm reminded of why I've been making a very conscious effort to watch less of it. Not that I don't want to stay on top of current events, but I don't want to let it bog me down with negativity. I am trying to live a healthier and happier life, not a life filled with anxiety. Mental health is just as important as physical. Part of why I've put on so much weight in the last couple of years is because I wasn't addressing my depression and anxiety. I was watching too much news and spending way too much time on social media. Now MFP is my main social site and I only watch the news with my morning coffee. Although everything is shutting down here again due to Covid, I make sure I get out every day so I don't isolate too much. I go to parks and local trails where there are people, but at a distance. It gets me outside in nature and reminds me that I am still a part of the world. Eating more whole foods is also better for the brain than processed foods. I'm starting to pay closer attention to whether or not the foods I'm choosing are feeding me for fuel and health instead of using food to abate the hunger or cravings. I'm also seeing a counselor, which is turning out to be more helpful than I could've imagined. Anyway, sorry this got so long, I just wanted to encourage everyone to pay attention to your mental health as we take this journey towards weight loss. If you think along the lines of "I'll be happy when I lose weight", you might want to take a deeper look into what caused the weight gain to begin with. What changes can you make that will ensure you don't gain it back? How can you make it so this is the final time you have to make a weight loss goal? Just some things to think about
Today:
get fitted for new running shoes, run 3.5 (7min/1min)
some gentle yoga to stretch out my sore body
enjoy my ponies on what looks to be a very nice day
Feed my body and mind with whole foods, plant-based (WFPB)
Hydrate
Have a great day!

The hardest part for me about exercise is getting out the door or hitting that play button on videos. Once I start, I'm usually committed. On really tough days, I tell myself to just give it 15 minutes. If it sucks too bad, fine, quit. Usually, I can finish once I get those first 15 minutes in.
You got this!6 -
Good morning!!
Well yesterday I only got one walk in at work so after I got home from the gym I took the dogs for a walk. So I'm counting that I made my two a day walk goal. Other than that I made all my goals for the day.
@3greyhorses - I totally get you. I know that I'm an emotional eater but since the quarantine rules with Covid boy as it hit me hard. One of the reasons I started exercising was the recommendation from my doctor. It is more for my mind then changing my body. I kinda forget all that is going on for 30 to 60 minutes. Counseling is so important and I encourage everyone to go or at least try it. It has helped through several unhappy life events.
So I have added a motivational channel to my podcast list. It is called :"Keep Yourself Motivated." It is just a bunch of short motivational speeches from athletes regarding exercising and life. I usually listen to one everyday but decided this morning I would listen to on my way to work. I then followed it up with Pitbull's song "I Believe We Will Win". If you haven't heard this song I highly recommend listening to it. I have a play list called Get Up and Move with motivating songs and it is the best one so far for me. I usually listen to it at least twice.
My goals for today are:
Two 25 min. walks while at work (I do this instead of taking a lunch hour.)
Do day 1 (again) on the C25K app @rayonrainbows
Stay at or under my calorie budget.
I just want to say how happy I am that this group got started. I have an accountability group at my gym and it really is the biggest reason I have stayed so active for the last 8 years. Now I have accountability with keeping track of my food and daily goals.
THANK YOU!!!

Good morning!
Had a wonderful day yesterday and cooked dinner with my best friend since she's on this journey with me. We had some really delicious mexican cauliflower rice, black beans, and homemade salsa. I was surprised at how many calories are in the Costco Pork Tamales, but I had budgeted for it!
I go to the gym on MWF, so I'm heading to the gym tonight to work on arms/shoulders/chest and get in some cardio.
Goals for today:
- Stay under calorie budget
- Go to the gym
- Drink 65oz of water3 -
I was able to get out yesterday for a walk before the rain started. I've already done a short walk today and my plan is do some TaeKwon Do tonight. I used to do Tae Kwon Do years ago. I recently found out that I can take classes on YouTube, so I usually do one class per week in my living room to change things up a bit.
For today:
Get water in

@3greyhorses so true!!! I watched the news once on election day this year, that was all I could handle 😆😆 I'd much rather read something quickly than listen to a bunch of talking heads, though even reading about the state of the world can be kind of depressing..
Speaking of, my poor country of Nicaragua is truly suffering after 2 category 4/5 hurricanes in two weeks.. fortunately where I live is more southern, so we didn't get too much damage, just flooding. But it's a pretty sad state for this impoverished country I'm trying to see what I can do to fundraise and volunteer
@c_l_belle congrats on no junk food! Not having those temptations around is a great way to break bad habits 💜
@mrsshots2011 i was thiiiiiiis close to doing C25K day one yesterday!!! It was raining when we took our walk, so I decided not to bring my phone but to do the 60 sec jog/90 sec walk x8, but then my partner wanted to walk in the other direction to see how the storm destroyed the river (wow!) So I couldn't jog.. the road is a total rocky mud pit (we live on a dirt road) so the only place I can comfortably jog is if I go in the other direction there's this weird empty neighborhood where they put in a few stone streets but no houses 🤷 hahha anyway I just finished teaching for the day so Im going to head out now to do day 1 🏃🏃
@jaderbacon that sounds so nice!!! 🌈 Good you have a friend supporting you 🖤 I've been dying to try cauliflower substitutions but unfortunately it's crazy expensive here, like $3-4 a head, so I haven't had a chance yet. Love me some homemade salsa though!!
@taxgirl1 take kwon do is super badass!! You go girl!! 🧜5 -
@rayonrainbows I'm glad you're safe, but my heart aches for you and all of those suffering from damage1

I didn't take the time to post yesterday. So glad to see everyone is working in a positive direction toward their
goals. I did meet my goals from the other day and finally incorporated some weights!
@rayonrainbows - So glad you are safe. Sorry to hear about all those suffering from the damage.
@3greyhorses - What a great post on the benefits of mental health. Keep up the good work! I also only watch the news once a day. It can be overwhelming.
@c_l_belle - Congrats on no junk food!
@mrsshots2011 - I'm going to look into your podcasts. They sound very helpful.
@jaderbacon - You are making great progress! Having a supportive friend is really helpful.
@taxgirl1 - Glad you got out for a walk. Good luck with the take kwon do.
Today's goal:
- Log all my food and stay under calories
- Get some exercise
- Clean the oven5 -

Glad you're safe and sound @rayonrainbows1 -
I got my new running shoes today and the 3.5 miles felt pretty good. Started the day out with a gentle yoga video to loosen my back and hips. Sticking with the diet plan.
Hope everyone had a great day! I appreciate all of you!

Today I watched 2 episodes on Netflix while on the stationary bike, moving relatively slow, but better than going with my first thought, to not do it at all. Which probably means that I avoided some boredom snacking 😁
My goals this week, for Wed 11/18
- to only eat back 1/4-1/3 of the exercise calories and stop there ✅, 3/7
- ride bike 2x 30 minutes, ✅, 1/2
-bonus activity: up and down the stairs distributing the folded laundry in small batches6 -
@GabiV125 good for you for getting on the bike!
What did you watch?2 -
Blacklist and then to lighten up, Travels with My Father3
-
Stayed under again today and emotional walked/ listened to music rather than eating.
Tomorrow's goals:
- stay within calorie goal
- Exercises for 30 minutes
- think about something I love or am grateful for every time I feel irritable3
