Yesterday, @Mrs_Hoffer reported that she won a prize of Christmas cookies. That is a great example of how difficult it is to resist temptation when we are presented with food and it is not only loaded with empty calories, its also laden with social expectation and pressure to consume. It does not get easier between today and the end of the year. @Mrs_Hoffer wisely shared the prize with others and that was wise.

@olddogbiking If you want to message me your email, I'd be happy to send you the file. I actually like the one I took a moment before a little better, but it was hard to tell from the thumbnails when posting. If you do send me a message, tag me here, cause I am not sure yet how easy it is to realize that a message was received.

@summerskier Hilarious about the cows and horses. With that thought, how in the world do cowboys do their jobs?2 -

I ate A-L-L the calories today. Think of your favorite food...I ate it. Maybe even two servings of it. Clocking in at just under 3K calories, I'm chalking it up to my biggest refeed of the year.
My eye is still on the prize though so thank you for the reminder @Mrs_Hoffer and the echo @RangerRickL!

I was reading several other threads on MFP this morning and couldn't help but notice how many people were commenting how they are losing their motivation because of the cold and lack of sunshine, etc. We want comfort food, or we want to just snuggle on the couch in a blankie all day. I get it. It is hard to keep ourselves motivated this time of year, but I think it's important to NOT GIVE UP! In AA they say simply "keep coming back". So even when we binge, or "eat all the food", the SECRET is JUST DON'T QUIT!
I told hubby to HIDE the box of Christmas cookies! I warned him that if/when I find them, I WILL throw them away! He laughed, but I noticed this morning when I got up that the box was GONE! Lol. (I think he knows I'm serious!)

Though I know weight numbers are not the primary focus for us here in the UAC, I want to share that for November (a fairly challenging calorie month) I managed to get rid of 7.2 pounds, and for the October Challenge another -5.0. I am now weighing slightly less than October 2019, which seems like a miracle. Target weight is in sight (129-130 – weight at my nephew’s May 2019 wedding) and doable in the next couple months. I am grateful for the results. Also notable for the November UAC, I entered and walk/ran a virtual 5K. I looked at the results and I came in 154/357 for total entries, 87/234 female, and 19/87 over 50 female. I would have been happy if I even came in last, because I entered. Being in the top 50% is super motivating even though I know this kind of race is not full of competitive runners.
So now for my December UAC. I am starting by raising my daily target calories by 50, and will be re-evaluating this every 10 days, as I want to start easing into my eventual maintenance calories. I don’t want to get go from lower calories to higher calories in a single day. I will be trying my best for the Winner’s circle, but need to be realistic and will at least commit to showing up daily and aiming to be a champion and aim to clean off 2 more pounds during December. Then, during my next 9 days in the Keys, I plan to walk/run to Sombrero Beach and even try to get you a sunrise photo (will take some planning ) and get back home. Google maps claims the distance is 3.3 miles each way. At for the rest of the month, my brain can only cope with planning til the 12th. Will regroup again once up north again.
BTW in November, I did not opt for eating back my “exercise” calories like I had planned. My problem with the method of eating back each day’s exercise calories is that that calorie number not compatible with advance planning and tracking, and I like to plan and pre-track my days. So this is the reason I am going try upping my planned daily calories instead and that way I can continue with the pre-tracking that works well for me.
Here we go!

*** MFP considers me under my calories for the day, but I am still currently not eating back exercise calories. So, Pass #1 used, but worth it – Oysters Rockefeller, and dinner of Seared scallops over Succotash with asparagus and a bacon ju. Lovely meal – no drinks or dessert. Ironic part is I was hungry by the time I got home. Speculating is that I will not make the winner’s circle this month, but still going to keep it in mind cause you never know.

exercise on daySeemed colder than usual even though it was above freezing.
Sun was shining on my house but the mountain was shrouded in cloud.
Snowed the day before but the road was mostly ok. Freezing level was above what I was climbing up to. So a little bit of slush but not crunchy slush.
Nice tranquil road.
But I did 2 x 1000 foot repeats. Uploaded that gps trace to Strava like I been doing for years.
Strava has everybody's data and kind of has us competing virtually. I like it.
But Strava declared me "local legend" on that hill today. So that ain't like KOM, King of the Mountain. Younger guys get that title. I know the guy who's got it. Local legend isn't the fastest guy but is the guy who has done that track the most times in the preceding 90 days.
Toot, toot, I am local legend on a few tracks or segments around here cuz I do hill repeats.
This hill is significant because it is a known place among local athletes. The guy that previously held that title lives on that track or segment and commutes from there. So he does it like every week day. But heh, I repeat it and he doesn't go to the top.
Heh! Silly things that either make exercise fun or somehow bearable after the day in and day out of it.
My climb is up to 999,244 feet as of today. On my next ride I will become a millionaire.
I did that in 795 rides over 51 months.
Got my exercise tracked down to the jot and tittle I guess.3 -
