@Dory_42 Yeesh! I'm so sorry. You're such a good animal companion: like a real-life Dr. Dolittle. I'm sure his life with you was wonderful.

Start weight, January 1, 2021: 132.0December 1, 2020 – 135.6
November 6, 2020 – 140.8
October 2, 2020 – 147.8
September, 14, 2020 – 153.0
My calorie rule for January UACDefining, for myself more than anything, what is the definition of my daily calorie goal. For Oct and Nov, I used 1430 and not eating back exercise. December, I raised that to 1480 with no additional calories for exercise. For January, I am going to try a blended rule; either Food calories under 1480, or Net calories (ie Food minus exercise) under 1200. So, if my exercise burns less than 280 on a given day, there is no added calories. BUT, if I exercise more, I have the option additional food OR if I overeat, I have the option of exercising more to not use a pass day. This flexibility was not something I allowed in my previous rounds. Once I exceeded my goal calories, regardless of my exercise burn. Also, I am defining that I am using the MFP estimate for the caloric burn from exercise. I know I could get different numbers elsewhere, but I am going to use only the one source – good or bad.Date: 1/1

*** with all the deer photos lately, I thought I would share a funny story from tonight's walk. Towards the end, two deer ran across the road about 50 feet in front of me, then doubled back to the other side and stood are stared at me as I passed them both ways because it was near a turn around point. I think it was the flashing LED arm band that I wear while walking at night. I think they were confused or curious. Another pair passed me later, right before my house.
Pass #2

@Dory_42 Remember the good years, and your decision today was a kind one!
@pearl0408 - love the count down
Love the new photos. Enjoyed them all, sorry I did not go back through and tag people, but I need to get back to work.
@dewit - Hope we are seeing you here tonight!4 -
Exercised - yes
Tracked - yes
Under cals - yes
4/3 passes used - goal to keep it under 6 this month.
@jensam327 - I saw you do Classical Stretch! I love her so much. Unfortunately my PBS station stopped carrying her, so now I pay for full access to her website. I feel so incredible after a workout - they're so darn hard but so good!
@Dory_42 - so sorry about your dog. That's such a hard decision, but you made it because you loved him and knew it was the right thing to do. It's still heartbreaking though.
@ginadomaszewicz - that picture of Chester and the deer is priceless. Absolutely beautiful. You also commented on my dilemna with hubby baking pecan pies (and other goodies). We have had that talk - he knows I'm tracking calories - he's on board - sort of. Doesn't want to sabotage me, just can't bring himself to cook low-cal. He's an excellent cook but even if I give him a recipe, he "modifies it so it will taste good." HOWEVER - I cannot blame him for the extra weight I carry around. He never forces me to eat something, and when I choose to eat potato chips or cookies or donuts at work, well, that's my own decision, not his. Mainly what we're both learning to control is the serving size. There have been a few times I've told him I don't need so much food on my plate to which he says "fine, but you'll be gnawing on your leg in 3 hours from hunger" - LOL - hasn't happened yet!3 -
Exercise: yes, worked on a paper out on the nearby national park and then walked an hour in the wind
Calories: yes, under
Tracked: yes
I'm going to change my earlier post to yes, no, no. I've been working on a paper all day and have munched beyond my calorie budget. Right now, I really want a takeout grilled cheddar cheese with tomato sandwich and hot coffee -- but it's 28 F and 10:30 p.m. at night. It's the idea of something hot that somebody else makes so I can keep working. Arguing about it now.
Pass Day 2

Thanks for all the love and support. I know it was the right decision and kitten has been extra cuddly which helps. Keeping busy while we adjust to the new situation.4
-
Pass day 2, no exercise. After weighing in at a new low I started feeling very weak and nauseous. Canceled my gym appointment and started eating a bit more solid fuel. Feel some better tonight, not 100%, but not too bad. Ate well and logged fine.
In maintenance success doesn't always feel good, but it sure is better than the alternative!7 -
@ginadomaszewicz Regarding your husband's cooking: He is right about taste. Years ago, one of my dear friends was a retired home economics teacher. ( I don't think those teachers are extinct these days). She had a motto that 'a fat gram equals a taste gram."
@MadisonMolly2017 often shares her decision to modify how her brain processes that concept so that salt, sugar, and fat do not sabotage her.

Worked out lots today, but had the day off and went out to lunch as my area of California is finally out of strict lockdown. I decided to enjoy it and take the day off from tracking, so Pass Day 1 for me.4

Hi All,
I need to post for 4 days. My brother and his family came to visit us for the weekend and plus Monday. I have been saving my pass days for the time we will be together as we planned to cook traditional and yummy meals (of course with high calorie). I could not post since Friday.

I don’t really want to check in, not because I need a pass day (which I don’t thanks to morning yoga and evening Jiu Jitsu plus reasonable food choices which fit in my budget) but because the X-rays showed aggressive cancer and now I only have my kitten to cuddle, no dog in my house anymore. I know it was the right choice as he was in pain this weekend and it would just get worse, but it will take a bit of getting used to.
Dear Dory aka @Dory_42
I’m so sorry, and am thinking of you. I, too, had been hoping for a different test result. Wishing you the all the best. I know your kitten is not a replacement, and I’m glad you have it to love.
Big hugs, 🤗
