Love the kitty!!!! Perfect way for me to start today!!
Good morning all. Yes, I disappeared again for the past week. These weeks (8 so far) in the keys have not gone as imagined, between continual contractors in my space, the two steps forward and one back repairs, challenging socializing, and most recently COVID vaccination and the day after malaise, I have not responded well. Last Saturday, we had friends driving down from Miami to arrive at noon for finger foods and cocktails, so hubby and I were not eating as we waited. They left home late and saw the drive was going to take longer than normal, so they stopped and ate lunch on the way and did not tell us that until they arrived at quarter to three. Our dinner reservation now had to be cancelled on short notice (it was 45 minutes away for 5 pm). I am hungry, having not eaten, and facing an unplanned dinner and messed up lunch. Sunday, after sealing grout all day, friends were having us for dinner and I knew that could not be planned – so I wrote the day off. Monday, first rain at least 2 months. Turns out that rain plus new screens equals black mud all over the newly sealed grout that cannot get wet for 72 hours so you know how that day was spent. Tuesday, was supposed to be another social day (argh….) and after pursuingthe friends all day “they can’t do it and maybe next year”. Wednesday was supposed to be a fun day. Went for a sail in Key West that was a 60th gift from the kids to my husband. We did that before our vaccinations that were also down in Key West. The sailing made me sea sick, then we get the vaccination and now my stomach is incredibly upset. So we stop for a lunch/supper at 3 pm and order the nachos to “settle my stomach”. It could have fed 4 football players…….. By the time we get home, I just needed to head to bed. Thursday was the day after reactions with body aches and more upset stomach and upset stomachs oddly make me reach for food. Yesterday, I just had a bad attitude after the frustrating week.
BUT, I have two new vocabulary words to share:
Kummerspeck - name for excess fat gained by emotional eating – specifically, the excessive eating people do in times of stress or sorrow (translates to sorrow bacon :P )
And
Frustfressen - Excessive eating brought about by frustration
Very appropriate to stumble upon these words this week. I’ll be catching up on my posts today and I have some neglected private messages as well. Today is going to be a re-set day. Heading out for a nice morning walk.10 -

Like @SModa61 I've been MIA for a week, all kinds of reasons. However, it's not been all bad. I worked on Thursday and Friday, which always buoys me up no end and I don't think I have gone much, possibly not at all, over calories last week. Exercise has been minimal, but there was always some walking. What's lacking is the tracking. It's like I cannot be bothered with that bit. It's like my e-mail Inbox, I read them and then I cannot even be bothered to either delete them or file them in the appropriate place. It's a very strange type of catatonia.
I've come back quite invigorated, although physically tired, after my two days' work and am logging again: 30 minutes walking, under calories with homemade spicy curried chickpeas, half for lunch, rest for dinner. Rewarded myself with another double bunch of yellow tulips @MadisonMolly2017. The red ones I bought last week were rubbish! I've got a great book to read and some lovely piano music on CD, so that's me sorted for another locked in night!

I was 69.8 (153.14) in the morning. So happy to see “6”. On the other hand a bit worried that it goes so fast. No fasting during the weekend.

Exercise – yes. I went for two bike rides – total just under an hour – walked round town, another 20 minute walk round the neighbourhood, mowed the lawn (15 minutes) and some light cardio.
Tracking – yes
Calories – yes ??
I am just under my calories at the moment but I might have another chunk of chocolate before I go to bed.
My day started much too early, I woke at 4 am and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I got up just before 6. I’ve been hungry all day.
I haven’t counted my pass days because I knew I would be away from home and finding life difficult.

@Chinkiri
Beautiful!
Re: tracking. It IS the key for me. Here’s the method that has evolved for me: I keep a pen & stack of tiny sticky notes near my food scale. (I used to keep scale on counter, but now it’s such a habit I keep it in a drawer!)
As I’m making my meal, I jot notes of what I’ve measured for that meal on the sticky note & place it in my front left pocket.
After eating (except near very end of day when I manage the remaining calories), I enter the info from the notes.
I guess I don’t really like having to boot up my phone repeatedly & having it in cooking area.
Works great because if I get busy, I will enter them all before dinner & then plan that.
Hope this gives you a glimmer of an idea that might work.
If you tend to eat the same number of calories every day for a meal, you can create “Chinkiri’s Breakfast with the calories.” Super easy.
I remind myself that Tracking IS Key & when I lost don’t want to do it is when I need to the most!!
