So...today marks 5 years since I had my surgery. I get amazing for a while, but I have gained back 40 lbs of my 88 lb loss. I had slipped into some of my bad habits especially during COVID and having the stress of my daughter’s medical issues and having to live in my in-laws basement while she was in treatment while also working remote from Starbucks so that I can make it to appointments with some therapists at the treatment center. Not trying to make excuses but it’s amazing how quickly those bad habits can return.

Now I am trying to put the focus back on my health and wellness. Still tons of stress with my daughter, work and moving out of state again soon but I am trying to be more mindful with my tracking, meal prep and bringing a lunch bag to my home office so that my food is with me and doesn’t give me a reason to go to the kitchen.

I also am doing something this weekend with Peloton called Pelofondo. I committed to riding 50 miles this weekend and got 30 down yesterday. On the bike now as I work on getting through the remaining 20 miles. I hope a year from now I will be able look back and be proud of progress that will be made in the next year.

The struggle is real...

Congratulations on the 5 years! I'm only 8 months out now and have had a great loss but am now getting some apatite back as well; mostly if I eat carbs, which I limit still within guidelines. Yep, we're all lifers when it comes right down to it for just learning to live healthy and eating right.

How far are you going and have you gotten most everything together? We're relocating within state from city to city (about 4 hour drive up). It's a very, very stressful thing. The house still has a few things to repair before putting on market (more aesthetic as it's older), we have animals and jobs but still waiting on an apartment to open up. We have friends and family there as well as our kids decided to move up there (son first and daughter wanted to follow with him) so there was no question for us. But I think I'm getting old lol. This is NOT an adventure-more just a lot of work and stress.

You had a GREAT weight loss and doing really well with just keeping your lifestyle in mind while staying healthy. You're doing awesome- it IS a lot of work, no joke. Even with the exercise you're doing-it's really amazing. If you need extra support, add me on. I have another 20 to go down- lost 137 lbs so far).

@nyfamilyfarm thanks so much for your kind words. We are originally from Westchester County in NY and have been living just outside of Charlotte for 8 1/2 years. Relocating to Hooksett, NH which is about an hour from
Boston; my daughter has a lesser known eating disorder called ARFID that no one here knows how to treat and her pediatrician told me I am the ARFID specialist down here. Having a kid with an ED makes it harder too because taking charge of my overall health and wellness has to be handled with kid gloves so I don’t trigger her. You are doing amazing on your journey - I am blown away! Keep up the amazing work, and good luck with your move as well!
