@AnnofB That's great, I'm so glad the yoga is beneficial for you. :) That's the same way I feel about Pilates. The breathing parts really help me focus inward and quiet my mind which is so needed. It's challenging, but I feel accomplished when I complete a routine.

Hi Brenda. last week I was having problems getting my diary to close... it would just keep "processing' and never finish. I reported it, along with many, many others, 😉 and its working for me now, I understand from some pal's that it is not working for every one yet. Don't know if this is related or not.

I had to take an unplanned rest day yesterday because I could not sleep on Tuesday night. Every thing was running through my mind and it would not turn off!!! I hate nights like that! :grumble: Thankfully, I can generally fall asleep anytime I want to even in the car! It totally annoys my DH! My heart goes out to those of you who regularly have trouble sleeping because it totally screws up the next day!

@AnnofB I suspect my issue was related, but not reported as the inability to close out the diaries was more important. If I reloaded my diary, the numbers went to normal, but if I logged anything, all of them went back to 0. I do not close out my diary anymore, so I did not notice that problem. I have no idea why anyone would pay for MFP now. It used to be so much better before UA bought it and the old owners were so much more responsive when there was a problem. Since it is free, I guess we have to be patient when it acts up, but it is annoying!! :explode:

    Good morning everyone.

This has been a challenging year for me. I took time off from walking when I wasn't feeling well between my vaccines, and then I had trouble getting myself back to my everyday/most day walks. After that, I found myself really desiring a job change and in a cyclone of job hunting. I think I landed a bit of a dream job BUT it wasn't without many interviews for some jobs that weren't right the fit (God bless the broken road...) and during that time I spent all my energy in front of a computer researching, learning new skills, interviewing and practicing for interviews, so I did 0 walking except for an occasional walk with a friend or my husband and pup (less than 5 times in 3 months for sure).

To say I've been....emotionally rocked, by all of this, with highs and lows, would be accurate. A few months ago I even tried a mood med but within a few weeks found out that was NOT right for me as it really ruined my ability to calm and sleep. So I've got a sleep aid prescribed, I've been doing mindfulness before bedtime, and things are SLOOOOOOOOOOWLY starting to wind down from the frenzied pace the last 2.5 months of interviewing has introduced to my life. This summer is going to be harder as I straddle 2 jobs for awhile and spend time away from my family to make this all happen.

So, knowing my usual supports won't be in place in a few weeks, I need to focus on my health and my goal for the next month is to check in here with all of you each day to say guys, I walked today. At the minimum I want to do a happy mile with Leslie. But the weather is getting better, I've got a few friends who promised to walk with me, and maybe I can even get some longer mileage done here and there and get sunshine and walks. In a month from now I want to have established the healthy patterns (good eating, good exercise, good mindfulness before bedtime followed by good rest) that will carry me through a challenging remainder of 2021 and start swimming at my community pool a few times a week too with the goal of getting rid of my sleep aid by the end of summer.

Looking forward to the support of my little group here as I start to walk again-- glad to be back with you all. Now, without further ado, I'm off to walk!

This has been a rough week for me. Part of it is mental as the weight is not coming off fast enough to suit me! I KNOW weight loss is not linear, and these .4 pounds lost weeks happen, but it is still energy sucking! When I had over 100 pounds to lose, I was patient with it; with far less than that, I want it off NOW!!! :explode: I have also had some trouble sleeping, which is very strange for me and I am not used to coping with it. However, I shall live as these are first world problems for sure! :smirk:

@wtbarunner Welcome to the group! 11000 steps seems very doable and I am glad you have joined us!!! Step lively!

@mypinkbikini Before I say anything else I want to say THANK YOU for practicing for interviews! As an academic, I have sat on countless selection committees and listened to candidates for jobs give the dumbest answers to questions you can possibly imagine. It is so important to know the firm you are interviewing with and to practice answering questions you think they might ask. So many people do not get jobs they are more than qualified for because they totally blow the interview by "winging it!" People need to learn to practice BEFORE the interview not DURING it. Believe me, the people who interviewed you appreciated all of your hard work preparing for their questions!

A job change is always an emotional roller coaster. I retired in August (talk about a job change) and I am sure many of my energy and sleep issues are related to that. In addition, we have all been through a very trying historical time both from a political and a public health perspective, so even the most well adjusted among us have not gotten through this past year without some emotional ramifications. Give yourself some grace and if you can get in one mile of focused exercise, call it good! As Leslie says, every mile helps!

Best Wishes on the new job and we'll be here for you!!!

@mypinkbikini Congrats on finding your dream job! That's wonderful! I am actually working on my resume because I have decided to make a change as well, although I may be stuck where I am for a few more months due to my investment in my future retirement plan. But your story of determination and then finding a great job gives me hope, so I am inspired that maybe I can find something I love, too. I hope things calm down for you soon. Well done on the swimming goal, that is some great exercise, too. You have some great goals for yourself and it sounds like you are well on your way. I wish you lots of happiness and luck (Although I don't think you need any luck! )!
