What's on your mind today?

This is where you can share what's on your mind. Recipes, ideas, workouts, anything that you think might be helpful to others.
Maybe, you've tried something that has worked for you in the past and would like to share it with the group. Maybe, you have a NSV (Non Scale Victory) that you would like to share with the group. Anything that you feel comfortable sharing or anything that you feel comfortable asking the group with help....this is the place to come.
The GOOD!! What NSV did you have this week!!
The BAD!! So what....you ate the whole thing!!
The UGLY!! That darn scale went through the window this week....it deserved it too!!
So, what's on your mind today??

I am in, again. If all goes well I may make the winner's circle in May, but probably not June. I am on vacation in June and may not be able to log in for several days. But making the WC is not really my primary objective, its just sticking to things and this really helps.
I have been at my goal weight for almost a year now, so no real new NSVs. However I did take a look at my pants this morning as I was putting them on, and am still amazed that I can get into such a small size.9 -
This is neither good, bad nor ugly...but it is a time-limited, potential opportunity I can offer as a volunteer of the MFP Welcome Committee.
MyFitnessPal hosts a small user panel every quarter where they invite 5-7 members to come in and talk about their experience using MyFitnessPal and to hear more about their health and fitness journey.
The next panel is going to be Wednesday, June 9th from 12:45pm PST - 2:00pm PST and they're hoping to feature members of our LGBTQ community for this panel.
--/-/--
BACKGROUND
What's a MyFitnessPal User Panel?
We love giving our teammates the chance to engage directly with our members - and vice versa. We're interested in having you speak about your journey and tell us how we can make MyFitnessPal better. Most of our team doesn't get the privilege of interacting directly with members and our user panels are always one of the highlights of our year!
Why would I want to attend an MFP user panel?
Well we are a super fun team who loves nothing better than getting to hear directly from our members. Your feedback and perspective will be heard directly, giving you a chance to let us know how we can improve the app.
Additionally members will get a free year of MFP premium and ongoing access to provide feedback directly to our team.
What's the Plan?
Given the current global pandemic we will not be hosting user panels in person for the time being. While this means we won't get to meet you face to face, it does mean we can include members from all over the country.
We will be using video conferencing software that you can connect into for the user panel. We will ask you questions about your experience in using MyFitnessPal. You will have the opportunity to share feedback or requests on any part of our app or services, or just your experiences along your health and fitness journey.
--/-/--
So if you identify as a member of the LGBTQ community, please send MFP staff member @alex a private message...
https://www.myfitnesspal.com/messages/new/Alex
...if you are interested and available. From there, you will get the additional details as needed!2 -
Goals for June:
I have been thinking about goals for June.
1) Sticking to the UAC challenge for the whole month
2) Trying to have no more than 3 Pass Days on the UAC challenge. This will be difficult at the end of the month, when I will be staying with family and friends in the Netherlands, where there will be a lot of bread, cheese, nibbles, cakes, biscuits and wine around...
3) Try and stick to more protein and less starch in my diet
4) Walk for an hour every day, or get back on my bike.
5) Aim to lose 3 - 4 kg by 26th June. I'd like to hit 75kg by then, now just under 80.
6) Start playing the piano again.
What are your goals? How realistic are they?6 -
My primary goal is to get back to no more than 3 pass days and follow my recomp program. If I lose weight great but if I don't it's OK. Just can't gain.5

My phone is pretty old so mfp recently made it that i can no longer log into the app. I now use mfp through the mfp website which im not a huge fan of as the response time is much slower. Anyways i would like to know if there is a way i can scan barcodes of food thru the site? I use to use the scanning function alot wen i had the app. Any help with this wld be greatly appreciated. Xox3

π¬ Not that I know of @donna25trinity
Even when entering foods that are familiar (or that you've previously entered or that you enter on a regular basis), when using the desktop it doesn't seem to recognize your habits the same way the app does.
But maybe someone else has found a desktop work around?1 -
@MaltedTea wat a shame! Thanks so much for confirming this though. I might hve to just bite the bullet and buy a new phone. Lol!! The things we do for mfp and calorie counting right lol! Xo3

Hi @shadowcookie1023 !
I find even two10-minute walks around the block help Manage the stress of having a lot to do & give me more energy to accomplish all that we need to do. You can do both!!!!8 -
@shadowcookie1023 u may also find that ur run off ur feet prepping everthing for ur sons bday celebrations so u may be more active than u usual are and can possibly count this as exercise.2

I like reading what other people do for exercise. Sometimes I have to google it and sometimes I even give it a try.7

Yesterday I was feeling really guilty because for the past 2 weeks I was going over my calorie budget almost daily and wasn't exercising. I hit this slump and today I decided to drag myself out of it! I was making great progress and do not want to go backwards.6

Just read it in "Success Stories" and thought I should copy this here. It is all so true
11 Of The Biggest Things I Stopped Doing To Lose 90 Pounds
11. Stopped thinking it was impossible for me.
I always believed other people could be healthy, could be slim, could stay consistent and lose weight. The first step was believing it was possible for ME, living my real life to lose weight and keep it off.
10. Stopped wishfully believing in a quick fix.
The lose 20 pounds overnight wasnβt real. The eat only these things and you will instantly be at your ideal weight wasnβt real. Wishing that I wasnβt fat didnβt make me not fat. Praying that I could be healthy didnβt make me healthy. I had to stop wishing and start doing.
9. Stopped listening to most people.
Most of the people I was hearing from believed in the wishful thinking and quick fix of the next new shiny diet. The one βtrickβ that would make your body be what you wanted it to be. So I had to be intentional about stopping listening to them and find people who believed in science, calories in, calories our and losing weight the old-fashioned boring way, of moving more and eating less.
8. Stopped thinking I had to SUFFER in order to lose.
Tracking calories and eating in a deficit is a learning curve and challenging sometimes, but discovering how to keep me full (enter volume eating), eating what I want and satiated, has made the process so much more sustainable.
7. Stopped looking for an end date.
I needed to reframe this process and just BEING my life. There is no end to your life other than death, so until then, there is no end date. This is just life.
6. Stopped being an a-hole to myself.
I was not stupid or lazy because I was heavy. I wasnβt incapable or weak. So, I stopped telling myself I was.
5. Stopped blaming anyone or anything else.
It wasnβt genetics, or a slow metabolism or stress, or grief. They all are part of the package that is me, but the reason I was heavy was because I ate too much food.
4. Stopped sitting on the couch.
Not right awayβ¦. I lost about 60 pounds firmly on the couch. Now I have added in walking and running.
3. Stopped thinking it would all be βbetterβ after I lost.
I am still me. I still have all of the same insecurities and I now believe I will still be 100% me when I am at my goal weight. What sucked at 272 pounds might be slightly different, but life will still suck sometimes. I am currently going through some health stuff, that losing the weight didnβt fix me mentally or physically β but it did empower me to be a better advocate for myself.
2. Stopped waiting to live.
I was no longer going to put off that photo, that vacation, that adventure until I looked better. I was going to start living the life I wanted to live and take all the photos and vacations I could and enjoying my health as I worked on my health.
1. Stopped stopping.
As this isnβt a race, it is just life β there is no reason to quit when I have an off day, I eat the whole pizza or gain 10 pounds on vacation. I just have to do the habits that I know get me to where I want to be, tracking calories honestly, getting off the couch, and not giving up. Quote by Shia Labeouf: βIf youβre tired of starting over, stop giving up.β
