Tracking. Yes. Honestly. Every day. I weigh to the gram. I write the weights in small stickie notes. (So incredibly easy to forget something I ate.) and enter it before or after eating. If my weight starts to go up, I switch to tracking before I eat anything- easier to catch overages.
Lately, I’ve been entering BF & L before Dinner or snack. It’s working well.
My eventual goal is to not need to track. If I can’t, I can’t. But, I DO feel I’ve made strides towards this goal in the past few months.
I seem to have learned how much food my body needs & what it doesn’t really need.
I also read people who track their good lose twice as much weight as those who don’t.
And most people’s tracking is 10-20% off. That’s why I rely more on my trend weights over time.

Tracking is pretty much second nature to me after 8+ months. Outside of not completing the day a handful of times when it's apparent I'm way over with calories.
I think it would be impossible to be 100% accurate with logging between estimating restaurant food, errors in the MFP database and scale variations. All we can do is best effort to be accurate.6 -

Relaxing day on sunday, had some chillout family time!
Tracking is so important to me!!!! I hve a huge appetite lol and food is everything in our European culture so weighing helps me portion control. Some times i track as i go but i do prefer to pre track the night before where possible. Because my phone is old i can no longer access the mfp app so logging is very time consuming and frustrating atm! Xox4 -

Tracking - when I first started to track, I was amazed at how much I was eating without even remembering having eaten it. I would graze all day. Now, I tend to eat the same things and pre log the day in the morning. That way I know what my macros are. If something unexpected presents itself, I know what I can fit it - a taste or a heaping. It’s especially helpful if I’m going out to eat. I usually check the menu beforehand and work the rest of the day around that. On those days, I am probably over but not by too much. Plus it helps me to focus on eating foods that are better for my autoimmune issues.
Between tracking and reading the posts of others in the morning, I am motivated and ready to take on the day.

@JennyRebecca1978 - my understanding is that you can have 3 pass days and still qualify for the winner’s circle. It’s that 4th pass day. I could be wrong and maybe @SModa61 @RangerRickL @MadisonMolly2017 @Chinkiri will weigh in and either confirm or correct. I am at 3 and although trying to not have a 4th, I am perfectly imperfect, and if I hit 4 or more, I won’t be “out” of the challenge. I like that Rick added the champions category for those of us who keep plugging along and doing our best. We are learning new skills and habits and that takes time.6

@readyornot1234 Yes, indeed it is the 4th that moves you to the champions category and I agree that having the two recognitions supports us doing our best!3 -
For decades I dreaded the idea of tracking everything I ate. I probably never succeeded at it more than 2 weeks at a time. However, here I am, 6 months in, still tracking and have no intention of stopping. I had a moment of epiphany awhile back, thanks to half size me Heather. Tracking needs to be thought of as a tool that gets us where we want to be. And when we hit maintenance, it doesn’t mean tracking ends. When we go to the dentist and have a good report, we don’t come home and say “that was great, no cavities, I don’t need to brush my teeth anymore.” It’s helped transform my attitude towards tracking.

Exercised at least 20 minutes? I did. Solo bike ride for 21 miles, approximately one hour and 55 minutes. Not enough to make up for my horrible day of eating on Saturday, but it felt good to be out there. I have, however, determined that the hardest part of any of my bike rides, regardless of distance, is having to carry the bike back upstairs when I get home. Strength training, I guess.
Stayed within calorie budget? I did.
Tracked everything? Yes.
My weight was up yesterday (the 13th) as expected and was up even more this morning. I know it stems from that horrid day of eating on Saturday, so I need to get a handle on that now. I did well yesterday. I will again today, I think. I'm hoping to get a bit of time in at the apartment gym tonight because it's too damned hot to do anything outside. If not, I'll see about doing something in the apartment that won't require me to bounce around too much. I have been in the ground floor apartment when the one above is occupied by a "romping elephant." I don't particularly want to do that to my downstairs neighbors. I like them.5 -

Tracking is now a daily habit. I log my basic intake in the morning and amend it as the day goes on. I log exercise as I go along.4 -
@readyornot1234 and @SModa61 -- Thank you! I am here for the long haul, and determined to check in every day, regardless of my number of pass days.4
