Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes, husband and I did a 10K hike today... saw some amazing scenery again! Really enjoying the places we've been on vacation this week.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? You bet!
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Sure did.
July is going very well so far. We are on a holiday that we've focused around our new love for outdoor pursuits so we are staying on track. Feels good to be putting our new healthy habits to good use for fun!8 -
@ashleycarole86 So glad to hear July is going well for you! Vacations can be tricky, but it sounds like your hikes are making all the difference!2

@clutterqueen - loved the sunflower pics. Thanks for sharing.
@GrandmaJackie - I keep hearing about Atomic Habits. I guess I need to read it.
@JennyRebecca1978 - I have become convinced that slow and steady is the secret to keeping it.
@Jana_2020 - yikes I hope youβre ok!
How is my July going so far? A little of everything, but Iβm definitely refocused thanks to you all.

Would have been fine until I had those almonds at 9:00. I donβt even feel bad about it because I know overall today was full of good choices. I didnβt add back in whatever calories I burned walking the dog this morning because it wasnβt a very fast pace.8 -
@znaoiec Thanks for today's opening post. Like you, I have had constant (but wonderful) family events since July 1. Today is the last day of those ongoing celebrations.
I did manage to squeak through on the calories, exercise and tracking, but it was not pretty.
By this time tomorrow, Rose and I, will return to being a couple. Fortunately, we do like being together.

First week of July was a disaster calorie-wise, but I had a great time seeing my Mum, my sister and two best friends in The Netherlands. My Mum is 98 years old and said, with tears in her eyes, that she had thought she would never see me again. Food was dreadful though: lots of bread and cheese, nuts and nibbles, cake and coffee. There's only so many times you can say No. Put on 1.5 kilos, but am back on track now, I think!9

Thank you SO MUCH @znaoiec for a great opening & to @clutterqueen for her encouraging comments on folksβ posts!

I'm trying to get my dad in the habit of taking a daily walk, and he likes to take them at 8 o'clock at night. We've missed them 2x because other activities, so I'm going to walk in the morning to make sure I get mine in and then I'll walk in the evening again with him.

About today's topic @znaoiec it is so true. At some point in life I realized that it was always my own decision how I ultimately felt whenever I was unhappy due to X, discovering I ultimately control my attitude. I don't have to be happy about X, but that doesn't mean that I have to be unhappy. And having a better attitude always makes the effort seem a lot more doable.7

How is the first week into the month of July going? July is proving to be another very busy month. With our holiday vacation over the 4th, and kids/grandkids coming to visit for a week (coming in on the 9th), I doubt I'll be in the Winner's Circle this month - but that doesn't mean I'm not going to give it my best shot! I'm just not going to stress out about it! I'll continue to remind myself that I'm very blessed and that being part of this terrific group makes me a CHAMPION!5 -
@WhatMeRunning You're always SO consistent! Kudos! You inspire me! I've also learned over my 40+ years as an adult that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. So I CHOOSE to be happy. I CHOOSE to not dwell on negative things, happenings, and people in my life. I CHOOSE not to hold on to bitterness or anger.3

@mshawski Your post made me smile. I "hate" that sweaty feeling.... but lately I've had to remind myself that I complain when it's too cold in the winter and now when I'm too "hot" in the summer.... and that I need to stop complaining so much and go GET 'ER DONE!!1
-
@SummerSkier I started back to working in the office this week as well - when we all began to WFH at the beginning of the pandemic, we had to empty our desks and take everything home. Even now, because of "cleaning" our desks every night, we are not allowed to have any personal items on our desks. This j-o-b is really messing with my morning routines (LOL), but I'm working on switching things around and trying to make it all work! I'm perpetually a "work in progress" !!0
-
@GrandmaJackie James Clear's book is chocked full of insight regarding habits - how to make 'em and keep 'em, and how to break 'em!! I listened to it on the audible (Libby) app from my local library about a year ago and am going to reserve it again to listen to AGAIN! It's one of those books that I'm sure I'll learn new things EVERY TIME I read it! Thanks for the recommendation!1

@ashleycarole86 Wow!! A 10k hike! You GO girl!!!! I love the scenery and wildlife outdoors on my walks! :love1

LOL. I never complain about cold. I LOVE BEING COLD. You can always put more hoodies on, you can only take so much off before you're a Human Resources nightmare.5
