Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes

(I go "nuts" with nuts most times, trying to continue a good habit this month. Counting the number of "nuts" free days.) I am still learning a lot about myself in this area!

It’s hard to not try to do all the things all at once. But when I tried in the past, I crashed. For the last few years I have really been trying to keep it in check. This seems to be working much better…both more manageable and more pleasant. I try different things and find what works. I am living this way forever now and I don’t want to be hungry or tired or restricted or whatever. I want to enjoy life while being my best me. Finding that balance takes a little trial and error but it is well worth it. I’m not always successful but my marbles reveal that I am successful on more days than not.
I want to lose about 10 more pounds. I have lost quite a bit so far. I believe in slow and steady. I take 3 or so months to lose 5-10 pounds, then eat at maintenance for a few months so my body gets used to that weight, then repeat and repeat and repeat. A few months ago I wanted to try to lose 20 pounds but I am thinking I want to see if I can build up some more muscle and tighten things up a bit. I am 56 so this will take some time. Which is all good.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences and insight!
Tracking: Yes
Calories: Yes, but way under again.
Exercise: Yes. I went out tonight to take a walk and by the time I got to the end of the driveway I was pressing the running app! LOL Yesterday the opposite happened. I went to the gym to do my weight circuit, and after that got on the treadmill. I fired up the running app, started to run for about 10 strides, then hit stop. Stepped off and made a beeline for the exit. Can't imagine what the people on the surrounding treadmills thought!8 -

Oops! Pass Day 4. Seriously just ran out of hours. Even got up early, but still ended up at my computer until 11:50pm and hadn't gotten to my workout/Cubii. Tracked mostly (small taste test bite of mac and cheese I made for my husband's dinner not logged) and under calories.
The Coke story definitely resonated with me. When I first joined MFP, I realized I was drinking a bottle of Mountain Dew more days than not and this was a lot of calories. I started substituting Mio Energy flavors to get my caffeine (don't like coffee and black tea isn't high enough levels) and flavor without the calories. Now I have maybe 1 can of Mountain Dew per week as a treat and only drink a bottle when traveling.
I think my biggest challenge in forming habits is the variability of my schedule. For my job, I work the hours to get the work done. Some days that's a basic 8-5, other days I'm finishing things after midnight (and I can't always predict which a day is going to be). I know best bet is getting up earlier and getting workout done before work, although that carries its own challenges. It's a goal. It's felt like I've finally gotten my snacking/calories under control and I really would like to make getting an exercise routine my next "bite of the elephant". Appreciate the support from everyone. And hang in there to all those struggling.9 -
Today's exercise - 32 minute walk and 79 minute bicycle ride
Did I track it all - yes
Did I stay under - yes
Totally agree with the topic today! I have been setting mini habits all along, but if I try to make something too big too soon, it doesn't stick.
When I break it down into a smaller piece, I make better progress in the long run.9 -

August 10th:
✅ Tracked all my calories
Stayed under calorie goal
Exercised more than 20 mins
6/10 days
4/3 pass days used
I needed this topic today. Being at home sick, I am struggling to stay on track. Feeling guilty about it, but also knowing I need to get myself better and not overdo it. Right now, I can just focus on tracking and I can pick up the other items again later when I'm feeling better. I'm still waiting on my covid test results - I sure wish we had rapid tests like @SModa61 husband was able to have. I'm glad his test came back negative btw!! I hate this waiting around part, the longer it takes the more I am convincing myself that I have it, even though I'm vaccinated.10 -
Tuesday 10th August;
Exercise: 30 minutes walk ✅
Tracked calories: yes ✅
Stayed under calorie goal: ✅
I struggled a bit last night. Felt hungry & even though I’d had a good dinner but where as I’d normally say sod it & overeat, I made myself a lovely cuppa tea & had 4 biscuits (within calories) & stayed strong! 🥰

Did I exercise at least 20 minutes? I did, but it was piecemeal... walking here, dancing at my desk when nobody else was in the room (I need to do this more often - hahahah!), stairs, walking there, a brisk walk through the grocery store to pick up specific things, and walking the dog. A little bit here and a little bit there. But it was a little over 20 minutes in total.
Did I track everything? I did.
Did I stay under calorie budget? I did!
WOOT! A three-yes day. LOL I think that makes the third one this month.
Quick questions for those of you who bike -- what kind of bike do you ride? Road bike? Mountain Bike? Hybrid? Cyclocross? Gravel? What make? I'm thinking of getting myself a new bike and giving my bike to Aislinn to replace the one that was stolen and I'm looking for any recommendations or insights from other cyclists. Thanks.
Working on making the three tenets of UAC habits. I may not get it right all the time but quitting is not an option any more. If I quit, it will be no time at all before I get back up to where I was and likely higher. So... tracking everything, even if I'm eyeballing it and picking a likely option from the MFP database, is something I need to keep doing. I think I'm doing pretty well with that at this point. Staying within calories is my next habit and to do that I think I'll need to buy a new food scale. (See what I said about eyeballing what I'm eating). I'm already in the habit of weighing myself daily. My exercising daily needs some work. I'm working on it.
Good night/Good morrow, UAC fam!10 -

I had some time constraints today so only did 20 instead of 35 minutes on the treadmill. My upper body workout was on the abbreviated side (only 3 reps instead of 4). But at least I did it.
I'll be leaving town tomorrow and returning on Saturday at which time I'll catch up with my posts.

@jamcnewman - hang in there. Some days everything seems good, some days it’s a struggle. Are you familiar with the half size me podcast? Several of us are fans. If you’d like, I can recommend some of my favorite episodes that really transformed my approach to weight loss.5

@MadisonMolly2017 - I feel like I should write you a check every month for counseling/therapy fees. You are extraordinarily full of wisdom and insight.5

So many things to consider. How many miles are you riding? Do you like trails? Do you ever see yourself bikepacking? Do you want to to sit more upright or are you ok on drop handlebars? My suggestion is to go to a bike shop, get fitted, and they’ll let you test ride several. Google “how to decide on a bike” and see what advice is out there. Gravel bikes are definitely the rage right now and do seem like a better alternative to a hybrid. The trouble is, there is still a shortage of bikes. If you know what you want, check out proscloset.com and bikeexchange.com for a used one. Good luck!
