A couple weeks ago, our very own Maryann @mshawski and I were chatting about the Strava app that I recently downloaded and we thought it might be interesting to find out what other apps people use in their health/wellness or fitness journeys. Or perhaps even some kind of habit tracker!
So please let us know if there are any apps that you use and how you use them!

Very simple here.
I use my phone to track my steps (Samsung Health app). This doesn't sync in to anything, but I report my daily steps for one of my other groups.
MapMyWalk / MapMyRide to track my walks and bike rides (distance/time/cals). Occasionally AllTrails for hiking maps.
Just downloaded Peloton as my husband is a huge biker now and he couldn't bear the thought of going a winter without a bike option! Really excited to have that at home option.

As an Apple girl I use the Apple Health and workouts on my watch to track things. VO2Max is an interesting attribute as well as of course resting heart rate. It also does Blood O2 but not sure how accurate or not those measurements are. Mostly I look at trends vs finite #s. I used to use fitbit which is an awesome tool to match to MFP while losing weight since they synch almost seamlessly 85% of the time.
The weight trending apps are good as well Happy Scale etc... Mostly I try to simplify things more than add more apps. I used to use Map my run but found with the Apple watch I did not need it.

Wow! I've used quite a few. I'll just mention the ones I use now, but I will caveat that I pay for some of these to get all of the features I use, so a lot of this may not be as useful to anyone not looking for such features or wanting a subscription service.
The app that serves as my primary hub of data is Garmin Connect, which is technically free to sign up for, but really only useful when Garmin devices feed it with data. So it's not REALLY free as you need to buy a device first. I am currently extremely pleased with my Garmin Forerunner 235 watch which tracks more data than I'm even interested in. The main things of course are my activities (walking, strength, at one time running), steps, heart rate, resting heart rate, HR zones, VO2Max, sleep and recovery time. The data available during and after an activity are my favorite things about these devices, setting custom alerts, seeing your HR, distance and pace in real time, etc, as well as being able to analyze your cadence and other metrics afterwards. There's other data too like SPO2, body battery (interesting one but I don't really see a need for it), stress, geez. This is getting long. There's a lot.
Because that device captures the vast majority of my data it is the primary hub, and is used to feed my other apps with updates. Those other apps are:
MFP of course (no explanation required, I imagine.
Strava - This was one of the early apps I used. It was the first app I used to track my runs years ago when I started running. Just load it on your phone and it will use your phones GPS to record your route and get pace info, route elevation, etc. It's also where a lot of my early MFP friends came from as Strava is also a social networking site where you can follow others, and like/comment others activities. On MFP occasionally people would ask "who's on Strava" and next thing you know we're all following each other on Strava as well as MFP! I pay for the premium service on Strava since I like the extended metrics available to compare/contrast against what Garmin shows. I think one of the better features of the premium service is the route builder where you can map a planned route in advance to get the distance, elevation map, etc. I used that to plan so many "X mile runs" and especially when I was hill training and looking for the quickest death by hills available in my area.
ETA - Yes, I paid to find the worst hills and run them. I'm clearly insane.
I have used a lot of other apps, and I don't have anything negative to say about any of them. I used MapMyRun and Endomondo (no longer exists) a lot as well for running, but Strava and Garmin have been the mainstays for that stuff.9 -

I use both my iPhone and iPad
I use MFP and Fitbit apps to track my calories and exercise. I use Apple health as a backup for steps when charging my Fitbit.
I use the SmartScale app to track weight.
I also use YouTube app for workouts/yoga/tai chi etc, fitnessblender/Darebee, and meditation videos.

I use MFP, and FitBit - I am not that good at Fitbit tho because I haven't really learned it. I use to use the Spark People App. It will be interesting to see what everyone uses. But I think I will stick with MFP and Fitbit, to be honest, I really need to learn how to use MFP and Fitbit better which will help me in my weight loss healthy lifestyle journey.
I use Excel to track everything which is why I get into bad habits of posting 3 or 4 days worth of info. I just printed out a habit tracker list I can keep in my planner to help develop habits. Its is a simple list with a daily column for me to have a checkmark when its done or an X when its not done.8 -

My favourite fitness app got me into running. Zombies 5k. It's a couch to 5k training program with a zombie apocalypse plotline. There's also just zombies run. The storyline is great and engaging. The Voice acting and characters are well done and it really motivated me to get out there. I haven't used it in a while as I tend to listen to podcasts whilst running and it works better with music but it's one I recommend to any runners or want to be runners.10 -

I used to have one of those smart watches that tracked your steps and sleep. But I got tired of tracking so many items that I focused on MFP instead.8 -

I use on occasion my Apple Watch app but usually use the zones app the free version it gives me my warm up fat burn cardio and peak data. Synch’s to my Apple Watch well, also use the wahoo app for rpm’s on my spin bike. Would recommend either but zones is my favorite6 -
Looks like so many of us a variety of apps the most important message here is to find one that works for you. What I like you may dislike it’s a trial and error process. Keep looking for one or a few that work for you.5

✅❌✅ Exercise today was a 50 minute walk while at work today.
I use the Libra app to track my weight loss. It shows the TRENDING weight and I like all the data that it gives me.
I've recently gotten a free trial of Strava.... but since I'm using it for walking and not running or cycling, I probably won't keep it after the free trial is over. Other than that, I use my Fitbit for steps and timing my walks. In the past I've used MapMyWalk, but on my very long walks, using the GPS and listening to my audiobook (both) usually runs down my phone battery before I can get back home.6 -
I use pedometer to track my steps - really like the confetti blast when I reach 10,000 steps for the day -- good tracking chart too.

It's very interesting to learn about the fitness apps used by so many of the team members.
Today was a pass day for me. Rose cooked dinner and dessert for a son-in-law's birthday. I'm definitely over my limit and no tracking.

I don't use any apps other than the Nike Running App. It tracks my distances and speeds, but what I really like are the guided runs. They are very motivational, plus I have gotten a lot of good tips. It synchs to Spotify so I still have my playlist going at the same time.
Exercise:
For the first time in months, no cardio! I am trying to take my rest days seriously so I just went to the gym and did my weight circuit, and a random assortment of exercises at home. Hmm...just remembered I planned to do a flex video today, so better get at it.

I use MFP (obvi), Fitbit, MapMyWalk (because GPS on my fitbit disconnects frequently and I don't think it gets an accurate step count for distance when I'm pushing a stroller), and Libra for weight tracking. I have a couple workout apps that I don't use often enough, including Cubii app. Not sure it counts, but I also have Daylio which I use sometimes for mood tracking (mental health).3 -

I use the FitBit and MFP apps on my iPhone (and infrequently on my iPad). I use the free versions of each. I am regularly in multiple FitBit challenges with family and friends. I use my FitBit to track steps, swimming, and sleep. I use MFP to track my calories (in and out), micro- and macro-nutrients, and for accountability.
My FitBit is the Charge 2 which I chose for its ability to track water jogging when that was my primary cardio. It is aging, and I am preparing to replace it with something that will also serve well for tracking lane swimming. I may move from FitBit to best accomplish this.
I also use Happy Scale for weight tracking (which will become more useful when I move to weekly weighing). I use Calm for mindfulness meditation and to help with sleep.
I listen to audiobooks on my long walks which I download and play within Hoopla or Libby (depending on content availability). I use a silicone infused iPod Shuffle with waterproof earbuds and content downloaded through my itunes account on my MacBook Air for water jogging or swimming lengths.2 -

I can't even see the Winners' Circle from here... someday I might. Nevertheless, I believe I'm still a champion.
I use Runkeeper (I like the "announcer" voice... its encouragement cracks me up. "If I had hands, I'd high-five you!" Yes. I am that easily amused.) Also, I can set it to bike, ride, or run. I've used MapMyRun, which can also be set to run, bike, walk, and even "dog walk." My phone counts my steps but since I have to leave it on my desk during work, most of my daily steps don't get counted. I just found my old Fitbit but not the charging cable. I could probably use a new one anyways. Or a Garmin. I have Levelhead for mindfulness practice. Got that through work and don't use it much. That being said, there's a challenge starting in a couple of days that will, if I complete it, make me eligible to win some ear buds. Since this phone I have now doesn't have a jack for headphones, I could use those, so I will complete that challenge at least. I use C25K, but someone above mentioned Zombie 5k, so I'm going to check that out.

I use the Apple Watch / Health app for exercise and the Health Mate app that goes with my Withings scale for weight monitoring. The scale/app also gives percents for body fat, muscle mass, bone density, body water and the ubiquitous BMI. I take these numbers with a grain of salt as they change frequently however there have been some trends in the last couple of months where it's showing a slight increase in bone mass (.3%). It never changed in the 2-3 years prior to that. It also shows a slight increase in muscle mass even during the time my weight stays in that same 4lb range. I'm taking it as a NSV of sorts.4 -
Pass day again. Exercise was walking, sightseeing. Some hills involved as I'm in Wales. I made better food choices but didn't track/log, it would have been estimated anyway.
I have a cheap fitness tracker which has its own app but doesn't link to MFP, so I manually add my exercise to my diary. I use Libra for weighing in for the trends.
I have been thinking of trying mapmywalk/ride whatever, but most of my walking and cycling is local to my home so I don't really need it.
