I'm really surprised to see a reduction since I had Chinese take out Monday night. I felt "puffy" yesterday, but today seems better.

Sarah, so glad you're back on the antibiotic and feeling better, AND getting back up to 10K steps. Good job.

Kelly, I was so glad to see your post. I want you to know we all feel unmotivated sometimes. Sometimes for a long time, lol. It's okay. Just go ahead and lurk here . . or jump on and post your feelings, even if it's just to put them down. Sometimes just doing that helps me.

Lois, hope you're having a fun and safe time on your trip :)

Hi, ladies. I think I'm more or less holding steady. Last week was a nice surprise that I think was partially eating differently to rest my tummy, but I've more or less bounced between 129 and 130 this week.

See Sheesh. Names and I do not get along! Now I know that the older daughter's name is the first alphabetically, so maybe I won't forget.

Kelly, we all go through times when our motivation just seems to vanish without any apparent reason. I think it's good that you're talking about it with a friend and please do lurk here. You don't always have to post. I like knowing that you're reading and staying connected that way.

So here's what is going on and my plans for the week ahead. I walked last night with Toni and got in a solid 70 minutes of fast walking, which was really good in one aspect but not in another. After not having any pain in my tummy for a couple of days, I noticed something on the way back. No really pain--just something. So I was feeling a bit anxious last night because if these antibiotics don't work, I don't know what they'll do next. Hubby thought perhaps it was because I walked faster than normal for a sustained period on a hard surface. It's better (although not gone) today, and none of the other symptoms I was having have returned, so I'm not as concerned. My follow-up appointment is tomorrow and I'll run all this by the doc.

As far as activity, I made my 10K steps the last 4 out of 7 days for a 7-day average 9,334. Not bad considering. I am going to use my intuition about walking tonight and if my tummy reacts in any way, I am not going to worry about the step count. My goal for the coming week is to continue doing what I need to do to get back to normal. You don't how to appreciate normal until you have a period when you're "off." I'm also going to continue to try to get fat and sugar down. I have done much better recently, which makes me happy, but honestly--I am craving cake, which is not something I normally want. What is that about?? And Halloween is coming so I need to get that sweet tooth in check.

Wow.. I'm completely shocked it's not more. I guess I haven't been doing as horrible as I thought. We had a huge dinner last night too with the kids' Mom and her new boyfriend <3 so I thought it would be WAY worse.
I did manage to find a bit of motivation on the day of my last post. I got home from work and got the hubby to come for a walk with me. We rarely have the chance to do that.

So hockey is in fully swing. I can't remember if I said but Ella made the highest level of hockey possible at her age, which is AA. She plays female hockey. Double the price from the level down, but well worth the hard work and effort she put into it. We're so proud of her. Tyler didn't tryout for the AAA or AA levels, but made A1, which is the highest level he's achieved since he was super young. It'll be the 1st year he gets body contact, which is exciting and scary at the same time. He's a tough kid though and built for it. We're so proud of him too and he's so proud of himself. He really needed this for his confidence and mental health. Shawn also plays hockey once a week, so we're just jam packed hockey. Ella has a tournament all weekend (it's a long weekend for us), Tyler has 2 practices and Shawn has a game. Fun times.

Ok.. time to work. Happy Friday all!

Sarah - I wanted to mention a trick that I do to stop losing what I'm trying to post. Since sometimes it takes a bit to type out everything, once I'm done typing, I usually highlight the whole post and copy it. That way, if I click the "Post Reply" button and it disappears or my page times out, I still have it copied and just have to paste it back on the screen, instead of retyping. It's saved me sooo many times! Hope that might help you!

Oh my goodness ladies. We had so much fun. Not so much fun eating, but we had a great time at Disneyland. Hubby and I went for 1/2 day on Sunday - got in 10.5 miles, Monday all day at Disneyland - 10.5 miles...and we got caught in that freak hail storm that happened as we were waiting for the Spooktacular show (cancelled due to the freak storm). I have some video that I'll clip in later. Tuesday we got in 13.1 miles at California Adventure, Downtown Disney and ending at Disneyland at 11:30 (got to see the Spooktacular show that was awesome). We ate horribly. Sunday - no breakfast so churros at 10ish followed by corn dog at Downtown Disney when Rhea arrived, followed by buffet at Goofy's kitchen and character dinner. Hubby and I did share a few of the meals and snacks instead of getting our own... it helped. Rhea LOVES Minnie Mouse, but two visits to Goofy's kitchen and she literally would turn her back on all of the characters EXCEPT for Minnie Mouse. We discovered she does not like roller coasters, LOVED carousel, Dumbo, Casey Jr train, Little Mermaid, It's a Small World and those kind of rides and experiences. We had a fabulous time. Disney had many safe practices in place, masks at all indoor and crowded outdoor line areas. We had a couple of masks we used each day and wore them whenever we were in crowded areas.

After the kids left for the airport, hubby and I drove 2 hours south to Chula Vista to see his Auntie and family (and pick up MIL as well). Auntie was so funny and ordered a ton of Filipino food from the restaurant where my cousin works (she actually prepared most of the food). And also called a few other relatives to come over for food and see us. Hubby's cousin, who's like a sister to us, and her adult kids came over. That made me super happy. Auntie is 88 and was so excited to see us. We need to find more time to go back and see her. They were all sad Rhea was not with us. We had her luggage, but sadly, she travelled with her parents. It should have been the other way around. We got up at 6 on Thursday and drove home. Got home about 130 - just enough time for hubby to shower, quick nap and go to work.

Laundry was finished this morning as well as a couple of work items - literally about an hours worth of work to put me at ease and I am not logging in again until Monday.

Just got a text that Rhea and her parents are on their way up to pick up their luggage and stay the night. Tonight will be Chinese food most likely so sodium will stay high. We did drink 32 bottles of water, plus 18 of the 24 oz bottles. We were so hot out there. We're still drinking our water. And they're here so I'll finish up later. All is well, pics to follow.

    Sheesh - status of grandbaby???

I am so glad to to have this message board because I really felt the need to come her to chat and to look back at the past year to give me some perspective. For some reason, my weight has bounced up a couple of pounds. Perhaps because I have been able to add back foods that I had waived during the tummy episode. But even given that, I've been logging and keeping my intake around 12 to 13K actual kcals, and I decreased my steps for a few days because the tummy was sore, but my 7-day average this morning is still more than 9K, so it's not too bad. So I bummed to see 131 and some change on the scale this morning.

Knowing I have to fight a defeatist attitude at times, I looked back to this time last year and found myself saying exactly the same thing! :o I even posted some of my graphs. But last year, I was more than 10 pounds heavier. So I did make some progress. Perhaps there's something about the change of seasons and I just need to persevere. And I also got some gratitude from reading about mid-October 2020, because we all dealing with other issues--some health, some family--and yet we plugged on and came out the other side.

So persevere is what I will do, and hopefully I can get headed in a better direction as far as my goals and, more importantly, as far as my outlook and mood. I've been told that mood follows action, so I think I'd best take some actions before the morning slips away. :)

    Hope everyone is doing well.

P.S. After I posted, I looked in last year's calendar book to verify a birthday date. It seems the Oct. 14 weigh-in was my turning point. That day, I weighed in at 142.2. The next week I was down to 140.4 and that was the beginning of the downward trend into the 130's. By the last weigh-in of the year, I was 8.4 pounds less than I was in mid-October. So there is hope if I can do the work!

Lois, I had not seen the photos you emailed when I posted yesterday. Thanks for sharing this glimpse into your big Disney trip. It looks and sounds like everyone had as much fun as you had anticipated. :)

Felt a slight twinge in the tummy again this morning, but I hope it's still the effects of all those antibiotics. My doc said most people need about a week off of them to get back to normal. She also put me on a probiotic. I am soooo ready to feel normal again.

Got my 10K steps in yesterday and probably will today since I have grocery shopped and run other errands and I'm meeting one of my walking buddies at 5:30. My plan is to also do some floor stretches and some arm exercises with light weights (5 pounds) later on tonight while watching my fiancée Freddy Freeman. Yep, if my Nats can't compete, I'll pull for the Braves. I had a woman at the pool ask what hubby thinks about this Freddy thing, and I told her that he's cool because HE'S engaged to Nicole Wallace! LOL

Never forget--it's our insanity that will keep us sane. (Leo Buscalia)

Sarah, I just had to post a comment here about baseball, lol! I love Freddy Freeman as well. I didn't know he crushed on Nicole Wallace, but that's the best! As you know, I'm a S.F. Giants woman! Sorry about the Nats, but go Giants and Braves. :)

Lois, it looks like you all had a great time in Disneyland!! Rhea is adorable! I'm so happy for you making great memories with her.

I'm going to start the next weigh-in thread before my day gets away from me.

Sheesh, it's not Freddy who crushes on Nicole--it's my hubby!! His response to my "Freddy is my fiance" stance! LOL And yes, seeing so many great Nats traded to start from scratch has been so hard. But I'm no baseball manager, so I have to trust that a few years from now, we'll be a strong team again. It's our bullpen that is killing us now. We have to find relief pitchers. At the end of the season, we were going into the 8 and 9th innings with good leads and then blowing them. Arghhhhh
