Well, not surprising since I had daughter and her family here for her birthday dinner and celebration Monday night, which was her actual birthday. They were doing their own romantic celebration over the weekend. He didn't have his daughter, and they thought they should savor the time before a newborn joins their world. But, she tells me she actually can't wait for the baby to get here. It won't be long now . . last night she texted me that she was having pains about an hour apart. She has a doc apt today . . we'll see what she says.
Sarah, I don't know how to look back to last year. But that's very interesting to see how far you've come, which is great. All we can do is keep moving forward. The alternative is not appealing at all, lol. I think you've done so well, especially when illness, accidents, hubby's illness, job stress are factored in. Just keeping some focus on our health is difficult with all that life throws at us. Making changes is all that much harder. Taking time to stop and think about it is the main reason to keep posting here for me. Anyway, I'm really glad you are feeling better.
Yesterday, the stone floors in my house all got refinished. I thought I was going to have to go sleep at the cabin, but the fumes were not bad at all. Of course, I had windows open and air purifiers on high all day, lol. They look great. Next up, carpet cleaning. I'm in a bit of a "nesting" mode with a new baby coming, and all of my family is coming for Christmas this year.
I've been trying to schedule a photographer since we haven't had a family photo done for a few years. The one I want hasn't called me back yet. I'm going to try again after I log off here.
Kelly, hope you're lurking around here and will post soon.

Using the Wednesday BEFORE Disney as I did not take my scale with me on our trip – WOO HOO! So my weekly avg is also off but I’ll use them anyhow. I feel good with what I’ve been doing/not doing as I should be or shouldn’t be doing. I have to put it out there that I have not been on my best behavior even after getting home. But I’m ok with that. The weather has finally cooled down. We were in the low 50’s for the past two nights. I’ve slept with my windows open and pulled another blanket at some point in the middle of the night. I’ve woken feeling pretty restful. I love to sleep when it’s cold outside and the room is chilly. Hubby’s allergies has kept him out of our room – which is awesome since he would close the windows when he comes in as it gets too cold for him...haha. He does not have covid…we believe it’s his allergies as we always notice his allergies after we come home from San Diego – he has zero allergy issues there. And he dislikes taking anything OTC or RX
Work is actually very busy, and I didn’t feel like the world was toppling on top of me when I got back. This week has been extremely busy, but not as stressful as prior to vacation so I think the vacation was very much needed. I was speaking to one of our buyers to schedule his home to close when he asked me what I did with my time off last week (the field told him they sent me dates last week and he’s been waiting for my call – of course he alerted them he had not heard from me…THEN they told him that I was out of the office). When I said we had gone to Disneyland, the reaction was a bit – let’s just say irritating on my side – something about being careless and who gives a whatnot. I calmly responded that I am vaccinated, used plenty of sanitizer and had several masks that I had worn when in tighter lines, inside or when the other people decided to walk closer to us. We did take precautions and I also witnessed other attendees doing the same. We didn’t even get on an elevator with other guests in the hotel. We had a COVID test five days after our last exposure and we are all negative and well.
FYI – Disney will stop the ride if riders take off their masks during a ride. We weren’t the guilty peeps, but we were stopped twice on rides with the announcement that all riders must keep their masks on over their nose AND mouth while on the ride.
On a not-so-great note, I was speaking to one of my other sales team members and discovered that most of the field crew are out with COVID. This community has been hit three times with several employees and trade partners contracting and shutting it down. This occurred last week when I was at Disneyland. They have not discovered who the initial person is for this round. What I’m thankful for is that if I hadn’t been at Disneyland, I would have been at their sales office for some more training…which I had scheduled to be there in two weeks (even though we tested negative, I had planned to stay out of the office for two weeks following our return from exposure)
Back to the cooler temps…I walked outside after work last night. I wore shorts and a tshirt and it was chilly. Tonight, I may have to put on leggings…lol.
Sheesh – getting super excited for you and the new grandbaby! We keep hoping our kids will announce another coming (not for lack of trying at this point). And great idea for the photographer! I want to get our family pics done as well, I just get pushback from the kids about things they have going on…I’m not giving up. Exciting for you to have Christmas with everyone. Since my daughter and SIL won’t be joining us this year, and it’s our year to host Christmas, hubby and I are thinking of asking for a switch and go to her parents this year in hopes that my daughter can be here next year and we’ll host then. If not, we will host.
Sarah – I believe you’re the only one who has gone back to see where you’ve been and because you did, so did I. This time last year I was close to the same weight…three years I 20lbs LIGHTER and in 2014 – 50lbs LIGHTER (I don’t think I’ll be going to look at history again for quite a while – LOL)!!!! UGH. We can go back as far as 2013. Last year is page 2…Page 16 is 2013!! WOW gals.

I don't like have a bigger number of the bottom. Perhaps it's because I slowed way down for a few days at the start of this past week to accommodate the tummy, but my 7-day step average is not that bad (9,512) so I think it would be more productive to look at what I ate and how much. I did my best to stay within 1200 to 1300 actual kcals, but two of the seven days, I was above 1300, so I need to continue to work on that.
This coming week, I am going to try to log dinner before I actually eat it. I am beginning to crave some of the fall foods that are higher in calories, and I don't want to constantly deprive myself. I think I just need to plan how I can have that sausage or that piece of apple pie. This week, I made a pineapple upside down cake from scratch using my 50-year-old red-checked cookbook. For the most part, I was able to plan having a small piece as a snack without totally blowing the day.
Today, hubby has a borrowed pick-up truck and is ferrying things from the garage to the storage unit. I believe the organizer lady is due back on Friday morning. So while he is occupied with that, I am going to do some chores in the house and yard that I hope will work more of my body than walking and burn a few extra calories.
I can't believe we are already thinking about the winter holidays. Where does time go? I am not sure about our plans for this year. So much depends on COVID rates and how my sister is doing. She is now battling a UTI. Honestly, she just cannot get well. I am getting very concerned. Her hubby is wearing out from helping her in and out of the bed, in and out of the shower, in and out of the car for appointments, etc. He's just plain worn out. And I don't know how much more her poor body can take. Please say a little prayer for both of them.
And yep, to look back, I just clicked on the "show more" or "show all" (I can't remember) and then looked at the thread dates. I then looked back on Fitbit to see the stats they keep. Part of me would like to get the paid MFP plan that lets you export and save data, but I have plenty between Fitbit and the free stuff here. You can always go backward in your food diary if you have the patience to click back that many times!
Well, hope everyone has a good hump day. Kelly, hoping to also hear from you soon. Sounds like you are super busy with fall sports.

Definitely trending in the wrong direction, but I have been floating between 155-157 for a while now. I do plan on getting back into the groove.. just haven't found the groove yet lol Maybe after my birthday I will feel more inclined. We also had a hockey tournament all weekend (5 games), plus our Thanksgiving was on Sunday. We spent time at my parents and my Brother was there as well. It was so nice to spend time with them again.
Lois - sounds and looks like you had a fantastic trip!!
Sarah - Thinking about your Sister and her hubby. Hopefully things can start to get better for them. Maybe they could look into a little help for her at home?
Sheesh - love that you said you're in nesting mode lol I can imagine how super excited you are!!0 -
Kelly, checking in and was happy to see your post.
Yesterday, I ended up cleaning window sills, windows, screens, siding and doors because hubby's power washing of the front patio just coated everything with sand and grit. So I was active but was not logging steps. When we finally finished dinner I was so tired that I managed only a little over 6K for the day. I am going to try to focus on more than just on step counts, but I do want to be active enough in some way to make a daily goal of burning an extra 350-400 calories. And climbing up and down a step ladder and washing stuff did not do it!
Thanks for the good thoughts for my sister. She shares your birthday, Kelly.I was able to talk to my BIL last night and he sounded okay, but recounted that he was not able to get her into the car once and had to call the EMTs who are stationed two blocks from them to help. They do have some help, but it may just not be enough. They have someone who comes to clean the house each week and they get home visits from nurses and physical therapists at least 2 to 3 times a week. But when no one is there, it's up to him to get her up and down, and he's admitting that that's getting harder and harder. She's gaining weight from not being able to move, and he's getting older. He's 12 years older than her.
Today, my tummy is a little tender again way down at the bottom. I am getting so frustrated with this. I am going to continue watching the type of food I eat, taking my probiotic, and just wait and see if some time off the antibiotics will help. If not, I foresee at CT scan in my future.
Well, the lady who is helping with the garage is here today, rather than Friday. Got my days confused. I will be so happy when this chore is over. Hubby is getting tired and grumpy because just when got started on this, his work got a lot busier. He has had to deal with 3 plane crashes this week. (Private not commercial.)
Hope you three enjoy a nice fall "Friday Eve." Sheesh, let us know just as soon as that baby gets here! Lois, hope the cooler temps stay around and that work does not explode again. I'm also glad you were far away and not at that training. Someone's watching out for you.0 -
Happy Happy 40th Birthday Kelly!!! May you have an amazing day and may all of your wishes come true!!!
Happy birthday Sarah's Sister! May you find peace and comfort and less pain day by day.
Happy Friday everyone! Yesterday I ordered a salad from a local place. Sadly, I was delivered someone else's order - some chicken wrap. Being that I was starving when I ordered and ravenous by the time it arrived, I proceeded to eat 1/2 of it. It was ok..not anything I would order and I left the other 1/2 for hubby. He ate that and again, not anything we would order. Somehow that upset my tummy. Unsure what was in it but I had tummy cramps most of the afternoon/evening. I went to go for my walk after work yesterday, and turned around before leaving the the driveway. Feeling better this am, but I ended up just having some toast for dinner before I went to bed.
Sheesh - where's the grandbaby? My co worker was due Wednesday with #5!! Ugh. I cannot imagine having that many babies, but God love her. So far the little girl is staying put. Hoping you will be seeing your little one soon.0 -
My 40th birthday was great! The day after was definitely a struggle, but we recovered eventually. It's still very hard to believe that I'm 40. I feel like I'm at least 10 years younger... but I'm sure that's normal at any age.
I took the day off work, so in the morning the kids gave me my birthday present. Shawn and the kids got me a new iPad! The one that I have is a 2nd generation one and I've had it for years. It was super slow and wasn't getting updates anymore, so this was a fantastic and unexpected gift. The kids went to school and Shawn and I went for breakfast to a nice breakfast/lunch place close to our house. Afterwards we did some shopping for hockey stuff for the kids, then took our dogs to the dog park. That's definitely one of my happy places. We came home, relaxed and watched some TV. Visited with the kids when they got home and then dropped them off at their Mom's. We then went for supper to The Keg, which was amazing. Afterwards the kids' Mom came over for a drink and then we went to our local pub like restaurant and stayed there all night with friends. It was a great day!0 -
Kelly, sounds like you had two great birthday celebrations for this milestone year. And the actual day sounds wonderful. That's the type of things I like to do. I assume the comment about the day after was just being tired after all the activity, food, and less sleep.
I popped on to log my dinner from last night and breakfast today and was glad to see your post. We are headed out of town tomorrow morning and so I thought I'd also start next weeks thread a day ahead because it's likely that I won't get a chance to log in tomorrow. This is the first time we've been out of this house since we went to NC in April and it's past due. We're meeting our friends from Frederick at the hotel in the early afternoon tomorrow and will be back on Friday afternoon. We're taking separate cars because we don't live in the same town and because our schedules are a little different. It's also nice to have more room for luggage because at this time of year you never know about the weather. We can go from the 40s to the 80s within a half a day, and sudden rain showers are no surprise. So we're taking layers. I'm a casual packer--just throw something in a suitcase. My girlfriend is the type that carefully coordinates outfits and takes jewelry to match everything. So that does make me hesitate, but having fun is the purpose and it's all these differences that makes the world go round.
This will be the first time we've left our little Bella since she developed diabetes, but the vet tech who is coming to give her her insulin shots came over to meet us on Sunday, and she's delightful and I feel very comfortable leaving Bella in her care. Our usual pet sitting neighbors will still do the feeding, watering, litter boxes, opening blinds, turning on and off lights, etc. . We take care of their dog and cat and house when they are away, so we're all used to each other's routines and we love each other pets.
Now over to a new thread and I have a long to-do list today!
