Hello everyone. I’m new to the whole low carb thing. On September 17 I started tracking food and activity. I had lost some weight as I could feel it in my clothing but hadn’t tracked my weight. So I hopped on the scale and my starting weight was 199.0. This morning I finally breached the 190s and hit 189.4. My goal for the end of this month is to be closer to the 180-185 range. This week will be first true low carb week.5

For November - Jan
I want to use this time to form a solid routine again. To start obsessing over my health the way I used to. I have started a pictorial food log again, I have also started exercising before work. This is week two of logging food for me. Without going too deep I'll just list my goals.
1. currently 268 I want to be 260-259 by the end of November and by Jan 250-245.
2. Stick to eating at home and incorporating more greens into my diet
3. logging my blood sugars daily4 -
132 pounds. Gained ten pounds in past two years. My goal is to get below 126 by Dec 31, and ultimately back to 122. As I'm really short, five foot it's too high a weight for me. Always used to be easy to lose but now at 58 I'm really struggling. Low carb. Going to add resistance weight training.3

11/8 We walked 5.36 miles this morning ..it was great getting back out there ... food on point and I have lost 17 lbs since 10/15

Still sitting at the same weight going into week 4 of this little plateau. Weekends are normally hard for me but I’ve been doing well, making good choices and cutting back on snacking when I’m just bored. I did eat off plan on Saturday night but had accounted for it and had no change on the scale the next day- small victory, but I’ll take it. I’m going to stay within plan and see if I can bust through this little hump and maybe see a whoosh of loss before thanksgiving. @havajavapoe, weight training should definitely help- it’s transformed my shape over the last two years. Now if I can shed my last 5 pounds!4 -
Not a great first week of November but not horrible either. Got distracted with stuff around the house and didn't get to the gym at all so my only workouts were 1 strength class, 1 spin class and bowling. Still feeling bloated from an italian dinner out with friends Sat night including dessert.
However, I have my new workout space at home all set now. Weather will be amazing today for the Northeast so will take advantage and get out for a bike ride at 3:00. This is what I love about this group and having been on this journey for a few years now, I'm no longer defeated when I have some off days and can jump right back in enthusiastically without beating myself up.
Oh and new rule for myself-do not get on the scale the day after strength training LOL4 -

Well didn't make the 180 lbs or less for October, but that was my fourth October goal, so made 3 out of 4 of them.
Actually had an uptick but I stayed on track for my calories, carbs, water and exercise so just normal weight fluctuations. Attempting for 15 lbs from 11/1-1/31/22.
I do my Elliptical 3x/week on my days off. Increased to 150 minutes awhile back and increased since.
11/1/21-181.8 lbs.
11/8/21-180 lbs. Down 75 lbs! 58 lbs to my goal of 122 lbs (Was there before in 2010 but got lazy) Did 200 minutes on my Elliptical today!
I upped my elliptical again today to 210 minutes (3.5 hours) for 15.25 miles! I wanted the 3.5 hours and at least 15 miles. I do this straight through, first thing in the AM after weighing and before eating.
And @justanotherloser007 reminded me that the 15 miles I did is over a HALF MARATHON!
I also FINALLY broke 180 lbs, 179.2 today. 75+ lbs lost.

I would AGAIN like to thank you for your kindness with the advice you gave me at the beginning of my Keto journey. It has worked for me, to not worry if I get all my fat grams in, I let them fall where they may be. I watch my calories, Carbs and just make sure I get a decent amount of protein with each meal, along with good daily water intake. Up to now, so far, I've been averaging 10 lb /month loses. Expect it to slow down anytime,Thank you3 -

still hanging tough on weight but congrats to those of you still heading downward! I was irritated Tuesday night and had a calorie cushion so I ate some animal cookies. Saw a bit of fluctuation on the scale but nothing material and was back down this morning. Hubs asked yesterday what my weight was and when I told him he said it was heavier than he’d expect based on how “bony I feel” to him. That’s something I guess! Still aiming for another 5 pounds so my mantra is stay calm and keep keeping on. Maybe I’ll cut back on the number of exercise calories I’m eating back and see what happens.

I’ve seemed to have an uptick in hunger late this week and have done some snacking the last few nights so I’ve seen a slight swing up on the scale from water retention. I’m sick of this damned plateau but am trying to remain positive. I decided to take a break today so had drinks and a tailgate lunch with family for some football viewing. While I enjoy going off plan on occasion, boy do I regret it afterwards. Granted, I ate too much but my body just can’t handle it. I’ve been eating tums all night to manage the stomach pains. So much for the break! All I can do is make tomorrow a good day back to plan and under calories.2 -

I do my Elliptical 3x/week on my days off. Increased to 150 minutes awhile back and increased since.
11/1/21-181.8 lbs.
11/8/21-180 lbs. Down 75 lbs! 58 lbs to my goal of 122 lbs (Was there before in 2010 but got lazy) Did 200 minutes on my Elliptical today!
11/14/21-176.6 lbs. My November goal is 5 lbs, I'm down 5.2 lbs today ALREADY! I thiught my 10 lbs/month average loss wluld slow down by now. Been increasing my Elliptical time to 210 minutes, on my 3 days off work, for 15 miles. Today I only had 10 minutes left in the movie, so I wanted to finish it. Then I wanted to hit the16 miles, so I ended at 223 minutes.4 -
I struggled with both food and exercise this past week. I feel like I just want to hibernate and I need to fight against that. Yesterday was a half good day with spin class, bowling and I finally assembled my ballet barre. However my food choices this weekend were terrible and I'll be paying for it for a few days. Hubby is off work today and tomorrow so I think I'll have him bring my weight bench upstairs where my barre now is. Need to put a few motivational stickie notes on my desk to improve my motivation this week.3

My goal for this week is to stay under 190! I crept back up over the weekend, but today I'm back down to 188. I will strive for 187, but if I don't make it, I won't stress. The week after is Thanksgiving. So basically my goal for this month is not to go back over 190.
My son's gf is a trainer with PF and is willing to train me so I will be starting with her tomorrow. Starting slow, mostly learning the proper way to stretch so I don't injure myself. My long-term goal is to get back to running. I used to run when I was in my 20s & 30s, then got preggo and used that as an excuse and never really bounced back. So I would love to get back into it. I just wished it hadn't taken me as long to reach this decision.3 -
Due to my sore throat, I consumed too much fluids ( chicken broth ), and ended up gaining over 20 lbs., and ended up in the hospital for 4 days. Thursday night, I noticed I had gained 8 lbs. since the morning, despite not eating much.. I had chicken broth, and drank water.
I was coughing up phlegm, and thought I was sick with the flu or something similar. pneumonia, bronchitis etc. It was simply a fluid overload, and my body stopped getting rid of the fluid, and started retaining more water.. extra sodium didn't help.
About 10:30, I started having breathing difficulties, then felt a lot of pressure in my chest, and broke out in a dripping sweat, and started feeling dizzy when I stood, so I called 911. I felt better by the time I took the ambulance ride, but when they weighed me in, I had gained another 10 lbs. in 2 hours. I spent 16 hours in the E.R., before I got a room, and gained another 8 lbs.. up to 267 from 241. Over the next 3.5 days, I lost 2 lbs. on a high carb diet. I threw half the food away.. fruit, juice, oatmeal, skim milk, and just ate the breaded fish, eggs, chicken quesadillas, vegetables, side salads, and water, which helped me keep my BG at 109-165 mg/dL. My BP was a little low @ 85/55, and I was eating 900 calories a day, plus I was on huge doses of diuretics, but water weight would not come off, and my breathing was better, but not good.
So I got oxygen for home.. to use when I exercise, or sleep.. I'm OK sitting around.. and they let me leave. I was 265 when I got home Monday night, down from 267 at the top, but lost 6 lbs. after eating a half slab of ribs for dinner, and eggs for breakfast. Lunch & dinner were both 12.5 ozs. of 73/27 GB.
My breathing is better now. I am constantly checking my weight, and was back up to 261 after dinner.. 259 was my low.. hoping to lose some overnight, and get back to daily weigh-in, and hope to lose 10 more lbs. real quick.. and get back to 241 before the end of the month.
The broth was the problem, because of my congestive heart failure, and when I started coughing up phlegm, that was a warning sign to cut back on fluids.. I simply thought it was a winter sickness, and chicken broth would be good.. it actually was why I ended up in the hospital.. I tested negative for flu, pneumonia, and Covid. Just lots of fluid, and the high carb diet the hospital had me on, didn't help drop the water weight.
I got back on Carnivore immediately. A friend had 1/2 racks of ribs cooked, with no sauce. I cooked eggs for breakfast, and had some GB & cheese for lunch & dinner.. I plan to have more eggs for breakfast, 12 ozs. perch for lunch, and GB for dinner.. all is cooked, except the breakfast. I also cooked up my brother's lunch & dinner for toorrow.. steak, potato & tomato in the crockpot for lunch, and used the other half of the GB to make him chili for dinner. He's more moderate on his carbs. I even washed a bunch of the dishes.
I'm about to head off to read. Have to be on oxygen all night, but I feel good in the morning, so temporarily, I need the oxygen.. hopefully I pee 3-4 times tonight, and see some weight loss, and feel even better in the morning.
I doubt I'll hit my goals, but I still have 2 weeks, so I'll see what happens. As long as I don't go back in the hospital, things will be improving. We shall see how much progress I make.. maybe getting back to where I was, will be my new goal.

Lost another 2 lbs., down to 257.2, still up 16 lbs.
Ate eggs w/2 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese for breakfast, cooked in 2 Tbsp. butter. Lunch is 12 ozs. of perch, cooked in 2 Tbsp. butter. Dinner is 12 ozs. of 73/27 GB.. all my meals are cooked.
Breathing is better, less phlegm/coughing today.3 -
11/14-11/16
Weight is bouncing around a bit due to my wanting to eat all the foods but that should start to calm down in the next day or so. I’m trying to take advantage of a break in the weather but today have been tied up in meetings doing a lot of sitting. Good news though was that I seemed to break the plateau I’ve been on. Of course this assumes I drop the water weight the last day or so. I’ve been doing well on choices but likely did overeat a bit last. That tends to be the case- under eat early then make up for it at night. I’m aware of not needing a snack but have let my saboteur influence me a couple of times.3 -
Im sticking on goal until the day of Thanksgiving and the day of Christmas. I will allow myself to have ONE plate of Thanksgiving or Christmas food and ONE dessert each day. That's it. It may stop me from losing but with staying on point the rest of the time and working out 6 days a week, I won't gain.1

My initial goals for the month. My first two weeks I only met the prelogging goal and even that wasn't consistent. Happy to report that while my workouts still aren't where I want them, I did have a much better week mentally and with food/water.
11/1-11/5 I was down to 168 then by 11/8 I was up to 172.5. It took me until today to get back to 168. I did set up my barre and used it. Just need to set a specific time to add it to my routine. Moved my weight bench upstairs next to the barre but indoor bike needs to wait until hubby is done with project in that room. Sheetrock, mudding, sanding and I don't want to breathe that dust in.
Next up grocery shopping tonight for Sunday for Thanksgiving. We've got 2 keto peeps, a vegan and a gluten free member in the family but I think everyone will be happy with the menu.1 -

Still plugging along however my calories have been up a bit which seemed to help my stall. I dropped a pound to my lowest weight (second time this month) but can’t seem to keep sliding down. It’s crazy how sodium impacts weight fluctuations. I can predict daily if I will be up or down on the scale based on my dinners most nights. I’m planning to have a low key thanksgiving without stress but I will have more starches than normal. I plan to get right back to plan afterwards to avoid unnecessary gains. I’m off work for the week so this will be a test to fight boredom and the grazing that usually comes with it.1 -

Today I made it to 185! I'm so stoked! I hit one of those mini-plateaus that lasted a week, but I kept plugging away! And today I hit paydirt!! Whoosh! Now I fully expect it to go back up, but I also know that sooner or later I will go back down again. I'm one pound away from having lost 30 pounds in 3 months.
I have not exercised during this time. I did go for a 20 minute walk once to bring down my blood glucose. And tried a few yoga routines a couple of times, but nothing else. I realized that I needed someone to guide me so I didn't injure myself. I finally was able to get together with my son's gf and she's started me off on simple stretches. My body is sore but not too sore. She's helping me to keep my spine in correct form. I have a bad back and as a result, bad posture. I tend to hunch over. As I'm nearing 60 years of age, I don't want to be debilitated by my back when I reach retirement. Right now, I have to remain conscious of my posture, even while typing this. Keeping my core active, my shoulders back and relaxed.
I have lost weight in the past, but I've always gained. Never really learned. It sucks that it took me this long to actually put some thought in the process. I feel like I've wasted 20 years of my life. The healthiest I've ever been was in my 30s. Then I just let myself go. Here's hoping I live long enough to enjoy being healthy again.

I am burned out with logging my food I have been on and off this site since 2009 (with my old account) I have been on this name for 3 years ... so I have decided to take the rest of November off and all of December off I will return to logging and keto on Jan. 1st ....Happy Thanksgiving to my American Friends5

11/28/21-175 lbs! Down 80 lbs so far. 6.8 lbs of my November 5 lb goal! I behaved for Thanksgiving. I only ate meat(turkey, ham and pork) and broccoli and no gravy. And the sides weren't calling out to me "Eat Me!" like they usually do. I did my Elliptical in the AM for 217 minutes and had 3,810 allotted calories. I only ate a total of 1,357 calories for the whole day though. More than my usual 1000-1200 daily.
I did take home after the 3 PM lunch a small piece of Flan (I never had it before and the girl who made it is in Pastry school) and someone else brought an extraordinary Pumpkin Cheesecake, that I took a piece home and indulged in both that night. But no gain. I also made pies and Pumpkin rolls during the week and didn't sample even a bite. Quite proud of myself for that!

11/29/21 - Well, Thanksgiving kicked my butt! LOL! I made such good plans too! Leftovers! I expected my sons to eat it all, but didn't happen. Finally rid my home of all those pesky carbs, so back on track. I did get down to 185 again, but back up a couple of pounds to 187 this morning. I'm sure all that pie and banana bread had nothing to do with it! I was hoping to be solidly in the lower 180's by the end of the month, but not happening. But soon. My goal for December is to get below 180. I'd like to start the new year in the 170s. Looking ahead, not back!!3

Well my plateau may have broken. I didn’t deny myself much this week and my saboteur was in full effect with pizza and other goodies on top of the traditional Thanksgiving meal carbs. I did apply moderation and I’m down 1.4 from the start of November. My body reeeeeaaaallllly does not want to let go of these final vanity pounds but I’m persistent.1
