Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes?
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day?
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank?

Of the 60 people that started out the month posting in the November UAC, only 48 (80%) are still posting half way through the month. That's a 20% drop out rate. (Our newest members are included in this number - but only the ones that started posting at the beginning of the month).
To break that down even more, for our "regulars" (people who this was NOT their first month in the UAC), the drop out number is 16%. For our newest members (again, just those who began posting), the drop out rate this month is 36%.
But for better news...... as of the 15th, there are still 60% of you in the running for the Winner's Circle!! And I think that's FANTASTIC!! Personally, it seems to me that the month seems to get more and more difficult as it progresses to the end! Lol. (But perhaps that's because I've used 2 Pass Days thus far!!? Lol.)
9 people have used 0 Pass Days so far this month, including one of our newest members ( @MontanaMom )
I want to end my mid-month stats /info post by saying a big "We Miss You" to some folks that we haven't seen around here for awhile:
@brisingr86
@clutterqueen
@Dory_42
@eokoro
@fourathomej
@idoliov
@JTreasures
@Katiecan2021
@MaltedTea
@oh_jackie
@RangerRickL
@SModa61
@Winner_in_Life
We'd love to see any of you stop in, say hello and let us know how you're doing!
I like what someone said earlier this month: "it's easier to drop out than to be a Champion".
You have to become DETERMINED to CHOOSE "Champion" !!
I went back to Nov 2 to get BMcC9's pic of the sea otters! I just love this! and find myself saying "oh, I see Maddie there, and Summer over there, and Oh, Look! There's _JeffreyD_ too! Lol. (Does anyone else do that when they look at this picture, or am I just going cray cray!!) Lol.
Happy rest of the month to you all! WE GOT THIS!!!!

17th Nov
*Weights, stretch meditation and 2 walks.
* Calories under
* Tracked every BLT
* 2 pass days used
Another 5.30am start which I'm really enjoying but I do get super grumpy and tired in the early evening now. Lol.
As I hve mentioned I've been in maintaince for 2.5 month and I've decided after trying on a bikini that I now want to loose a bit more. I am focusing on just increasing my workouts atm and will not reduce my calories until I get my grazing sorted. It's killing me but I just need to learn from the past and take it slow and steady.

Awww @Mrs_Hoffer!
We are SO Lucky to have you leading our group! I loved the pic & your message!!
I think your detailed stats really convey an important message. It reminded me of these sayings:
I remember reading something like this a while back on MFP & it’s so true!
I see it clearly with my 10,000 daily step goal. If I skip a day, it takes quite awhile to get that avg number back up, which is often the reason that I just go walk my steps even if tired because, for me, it sure beats the “catch up” game!
Ditto calories. Sometimes I see people say well my calories are over, so I’ll make good use of my pass day and keep eating. Well, again, that’s gonna take a whole lot of days of dieting (ie being hungry) to make up.
I must say I’ve always disliked “Pass Days,” or as many elsewhere call, them “Cheat Days.”
Personally, I think they feed into “good” and “bad” thinking & (for me) could activate the free-wheeling eating of my past. Why would we give our bodies more food than they need (putting extra demands on our organs etc to process them) & then under-eat, ie not give our bodies enough nutrients. Boom/bust
I guess this is on my mind because for the first time in 6 years, I even posted it, I was thinking of Thanksgiving as a “planned pass day”…I could just feel the enjoyment of eating this or that to my heart’s content.
No Way. Reversing my earlier post. I will track, walk, & keep my calories & macros in line for my HEALTH on Thanksgiving as I have the past 6 years. I don’t want to trigger my Lifeline overeating habit.
After all, I don’t even Remember what we had last Thanksgiving hee-hee
Health First. “Food is no longer my entertainment or joy creator.”
I know others will disagree.
This is just for me; I’m committed to keeping my kidney and heart healthy.
Plus, I can have more “Thanksgiving foods” Fri, Sat, if desired & still be healthy, and enjoy them with no guilt.
🌸Maddie
Consistency!!11 -
@MadisonMolly2017 wrote "I must say I’ve always disliked “Pass Days,” or as many elsewhere call, them “Cheat Days.”"
I agree with you Maddie about "cheat" days - it's pointless. But pass days under the UAC rules could arise from a lack of exercise, or difficulty tracking or going over your calories by just a small margin.
Personally, now I'm in maintenance (and actually even while I was losing) I work with average calories and I don't worry too much about individual days. Also, being retired I have all day to exercise and we only have to get 20 minutes which I easily do providing I'm not sick.
I've said before that my pass days are almost always when I have eaten out and found tracking too difficult.
Long story about not being able to exercise:In January 2020 (just before Covid!) I had a major operation (a total abdominal hysterectomy - yup, a big incision and lots of inside stuff taken out)* and afterwards I couldn't carry anything heavier than a glass of water, was forbidden to stand for more than a few minutes and walking very short distances for some weeks. I wasn't in the UAC but I would have had to adjust my exercise goals. As I couldn't stand or lift saucepans etc I couldn't even cook for myself for a couple of weeks and had to depend on my boyfriend who can't cook and knows little about nutrition. I was grateful that he moved in and looked after me (we don't usually live together) but I was glad to get my independence back eventually!
* sorry, TMI!
I've put the long story in a spoiler - you don't need to read it - but I sympathise with @WhatMeRunning and the situation he finds himself in now post op.

✅ - Exercise 20+ Minutes: 75 minutes, aerobics/walking/circuits/tai chi
✅ - Calories within budget
✅ - Tracked everything
3️⃣ Pass Days left
@Mrs_Hoffer - Thanks for those interesting stats.
@MadisonMolly2017 wrote "I must say I’ve always disliked “Pass Days,” or as many elsewhere call, them “Cheat Days.”"
I totally agree about Cheat Days. How can one cheat on oneself. It doesn’t make sense to me. If I choose to overindulge I own it and move on.
I also agree with @lesdarts180 There are so many reasons why you might want a pass day.
For me, having a pass day doesn’t necessarily mean that I’ve totally gone off the rails. In my case, it’s usually a calculated decision, and often a case of not being able to track food accurately because I haven’t personally prepared it.
And as I’m also retired, I have plenty of time to do extra exercise to offset any extra calories I choose to consume.

Hey, bikini goals, you go girl!! That is phenomenal that you feel your goal is attainable. Congrats! Exposed skin is never in the cards for me, but I am coming to to grips with that--just find the right clothes and no one will suspect what lurks beneath, lol.5 -
I have to share this gem...last night one of my sons asked me to PLEASE tell him that I wasn't going to bring my food scale when we go to Thanksgiving dinner. He also suggested that I not randomly plank.

Early post today, and will update if anything changes, but I feel comfortable enough for an early post since I feel more in control over these last 2 days
November 17
Exercise: ❌ - I've been moving freely about the house these last couple days and plan to go back to the office tomorrow and see how a couple thousand steps added from doing that throughout the day feels.
Calories: ❌ - Feeling a lot more in control regarding food and am going to start lowering carbs back into ketosis levels over the next few days, but will remain at or slightly above maintenance (maybe 100ish calories) until probably early next week as originally planned.
Tracking: ✅ - All of it. Was happy to not have to change any of my planned meals either. Granted, my final two meals were "nibbling on turkey breast coming off the smoker" and rounding out the day's calories with peanut butter (because I could). Changes in meals was what made tracking so hard over a lot of this last week. I kept not making stuff, or eating something off of plan when someone would bring me some food (or simply not being able to plan at all for those first couple days).
I've tried this last week to keep up with all of the posts, and did all of the liking and hugging along the way. I haven't done a lot more than that though, but think things are finally getting back to normal. So I'll get to test the new spoilers as I get back to being all extra-chatty again.10 -
@Mrs_Hoffer thank you for the message, I’ve had a few down days. I hate posting pass days, so then I don’t post. And it gets harder each day! But then I thought today, this is stupid, get back to it, I always feel happier when I’m in the challenge….and then when I saw your post I knew I had to!
So today all was good, three yeses.12 -
Good to see you back @Katiecan2021 !
Just showing up makes a Champion!9 -

I love today's message. My favorite saying is "its a marathon , not a sprint". we have better days and not so better days but if we keep moving forward more than we go backwards we make progress :-)9

Awesome intro for the day congrats to all who stick with it it is challenging at times but it is a lifestyle change not a once and I am done thing. One needs to re focus every now and then and sometimes make a few changes to move forward don’t give up on yourself if it gets a little tough. For all of you who are missing come back that’s what we are here for….. support.
