Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes?
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day?
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank?

I hope that all who celebrated enjoyed their Thanksgiving Day yesterday! By the looks of the posts I read, we should lose few to the dreaded food coma.
In Canada, we celebrate on the second Monday in October (October 11 this year). I have always seen the US Thanksgiving as the start a long slide to the celebration of the new year. The desire to gather, share, celebrate, reflect, and also to look ahead is a traditional expectation of many of our celebrations throughout the season.
For me, this time of year really kicks me into gear to start thinking more seriously about the passage of time and what I want for my own health and wellness. ⏰📆
I found a template at at site to help me create a “future destination” postcard. I am going to use this to create some intentions and a plan for success from now until the new year, and beyond. I think this will give me some personal focus beyond day to day tracking and reporting. I am personally ready for that right now. 🤓
I’ve shared the link below in case any of you are intrigued. The text at the outset states:
“Imagine you could get a postcard from your future self. The postcard shows you exactly what you want to happen with your health and wellness. It's as if "future you" arrived at the destination and sent a postcard back in time to tell you what it's like. The destination postcard tells you what you want, not what you don't want.”

The template takes about five minutes and then I will use https://www.futureme.org/ to ensure that message arrives in my inbox at ghe new year.
Once those intentions are set in my postcard — I’ll need a plan with commitments to ensure my success. I know getting more and better sleep is going to be on that list! 💤🥱😴🛏🛌
Be well and be happy,
Julie 🥰4 -

Oh Julie! @jamcnewman Thisis such a great idea!
We have 5 weeks - almost 1/10th of a year!
I will have family guests around off & on Dec 12-31, and usually I usually do okay, but after they leave I gain (sad they are gone & exposure to all the yummy things they eat that I don’t.)
Planning to eat at dieting level the next 16 days, and then actively manage me feelings after they leave. Practice will make perfect, and it’s time for me to turn this way of handling their not living in a place I can go to around!!!
Love the postcard. Thank you for the links!
Best,

Exercise – yes
Tracking – yes
Calories – yes
I only had a short bike ride today – it started to pour when I was only about 1 km down the road! I kept going but cut it short.
That’s a great idea @jamcnewman – I haven’t gone to the links yet but I will do.
I think better sleep will be in my list along with making more effort to keep in touch with friends and family who I don’t see often.

Yes x3.
I even did a bit of running again. I've got a chronic condition - ulcerative colitis- and it's stopped me being able to run for a few weeks. My flare seems to be slightly better though so I gave it a go today. I'll need to build my time back up again but it's better than not doing any time at all.9 -
✅ - Exercise 20+ Minutes: 93 minutes, aerobics/walking/circuits

✅ exercise - was late to bodypump class as toddler was uncooperative in trying to leave the house, so instead of embarrassing myself in attempting to enter class late I did my own thing for an hour. I’m so much stronger in some areas but in other areas I can see where I haven’t progressed; abductors, I’m looking at you 👀
✅ calories - eating at maintenance as planed for the rest of this festive weekend.

Food feels semi-out of control, but I entered it all, and it was very good.
The extra sodium yesterday has caused weight to go up, but I know it will be back down soon, now that I’m back to
Low sodium diet.
All the goodies” have been eaten, so tomorrow should be even less tempting!
Extra long time all’s (did a 2nd 2 mile walk last night.) I’ve learned keeping my steps up helps.5 -

Me too Chris. I just know that I need to set some intentions to carry me from now until December 31. ♥️ 2022 Goals are a ways off for me.
So many big challenges ahead in our family and it feels like I am on autopilot. I sense my own frustration and a bit of resentment kicking in. Need to kick my own butt and define what would be better and then get working to name and achieve those changes — even if just in my attitude. And more sleep. Probably the biggest issue to be honest. If that was improved by Jan 1 2022, I would make so many other aspects of my wellness journey a more enjoyable experience.

Exercise: not at all motivated but got myself to the gym for 30 minutes on the elliptical and felt so much better after I did!
Tracking:
Calories: Back to weight loss calories for a bit after my Thanksgiving indulgences. It was tough to get back with the routine this morning as I knew it would be, but I did it.7 -

Tracking - Started to, but oops, started picking at the leftovers late afternoon and no more tracking after that! Tomorrow will go better!
Calories - Hard to say since I didn't track, but probably used all my exercise calories plus a little bit more?
Exercise - YES! I did a 4 mile run this morning and hope I earned bonus points for not giving up and turning around when I came across a flooded part of the trail. I had to take several steps in water over my ankles, but I persevered, soggy socks and all! The ducks sure were happy!

Exercised? No. The best I did was lug Christmas decorations from the storage unit to the truck (which wasn't that hard since we used a cart) and then lug them upstairs at the apartment. That was a little harder as our tree is in the box we bought it in and, while it's not lightweight, it's not that heavy, but it is bulky and awkward and too heavy for one person. But we got it upstairs. I intended to ride this morning, overslept. So I thought I'd ride to the Walgreen's when I went for my booster this evening, but got sidetracked and it was almost my appointment time when I left, so I drove. Sigh. Gonna try for at least a long walk tomorrow afternoon as I have things I need to do in the morning.
Tracking? Yes.
Calories? Too many. Waaaaaaaayyyyyyy too many.5 -
Did I exercise? Oh yes, today was a mixed bag, 56 minutes of walking, 28 minutes of yoga, 20 minutes of arm strength with dumbbells and 35 minutes on the Peloton
Did I track everything? Yes
Did I stay under calories? No. Today was a classic example of trying to out-exercise a big meal. I timed out (but I have to say I had a heck of a fun time trying!)
Pass days used - 3 of 3 (Nov 1, Nov 25, Nov 26)
Good topic today. In an odd coincidence, my husband (who is on MFP but not part of this group) started a conversation today where he said "I need to start thinking about my 2022 goals." I mistakenly thought he meant for work - lol
The only goal I know for sure I'll have is hitting my target weight and finishing up the year in maintenance. It's going to be a fun one to work on!5 -
