@Mrs_Hoffer - The China Study is an excellent book, it was a regular point of reference for me back in 2007/2008 since the entire content was based on solid, reviewed research with references to the research sources themselves. I imagine it has been updated since then, but my guess is that was foundational to what T. Colin Campbell put in the book you read (not that I know, I haven't read it...yet, might read it now since it sounds like a good one).1
-
@WhatMeRunning Chris, you are correct in that The China Study was foundational for this book "Whole". And he refers to The China Study several times in this book.1
-
Just looked up T. Colin Campbell in my Libby (Public Library) collection. The China Study came first (borrowed); then Whole (on hold) and then The Future of Nutrition (also borrowed)
Time I started reading something with more redeeming value than my other .... 10? ..... more? Dec choices (none had ANY redeeming value beyond being an interrelated series of pure Regency Romance brain-candy escapism)6 -

No winners circle for me this month. @mrs_hoffer I hve also read the China study a while back, such a good read!!
I love Nye celebrations it's one of the very few times a year I let my hair down and drink cocktails. I like the milky, baileys cocktails so they are very high in calories. I am feeling a bit anxious about it but feel like the best way to handle Nye is to give myself permission ahead of time to hve wat alcohol and food I want for the evening and not to restrict myself. I feel that if I count calories and try to restrict myself I will just self sabatage and end up bingeing in a few days due to depriving myself.. This is exactly wat happened to me at xmas. So this guys is me giving myself permission to drop the counting calories for the day and not feel guilty about it! I'm hoping I will still do my workout in the morning though. Xo4 -

Back on track I hope. I made two terrific soups today (thanks @Jana_2020 for reminding me of the hambone in the fridge) and the post of the 27th helped me think about what I could be doing to help myself to success from now into the start of the new year.
Finally broke down and called the doctor today after suffering it out. Back on antibiotics for another infection and hope this zaps it quickly. Tired of being so tired, but eating poorly and failing to do everything in my power to preserve and improve my health won’t help. 💡
Exercise is truly minimal right now, but it is 20+ minutes and intentional, and will keep me moving forward until this infection improves.
We are in an extreme cold warning that is now to continue into the weekend. Temperature is dropping further tonight to -35C (-32F); feels like -48C (-54F) with the windchill. Cabin fever is real. The dog is going stir crazy. 🥳🥳🥳5 -

@jamcnewman - WOW - that’s cold. We have had an unusually warm winter so far with only a couple inches of snow. I actually wish we’d get some snow - just not 20 inches at once.
Well, it’s amazing how quickly my month fell apart. I was so determined and sure I would be in the winners circle. I was hanging on with 3 pass days, and then BAM, one bad decision led to several more. I am now at 5 pass days. Disappointed in myself but moving on.5 -
Did I exercise? Yes - 32 minutes indoor cycling, 10 minute stretch
Did I stay under my calories? Yes
Did I track it all? Yes

Another pass day for me - #14.
Yesterday, the kids and I made homemade pasta with arrabbiata sauce. I'm not sure the time it took to make the pasta was worth it, but it was fun! It did take all 4 of us to do it though. Everyone goes back to their respective homes today. I'm sad that they won't be around, but happy to get back to a routine.4 -

Exercise? Not this time.
Tracking? Nope
Calories? No
I spent the day with my youngest who had her wisdom teeth out. 31 years old and first time under anesthesia. I just hung out with her all day to make sure she was doing okay and just to keep her company. I walked her dog for her a couple of times, but the walks weren't long enough to count for anything, even added together.
I really sucked at everything this month, more than any other month this past year and a half. I've signed up for the January UAC and hope to be more focused on what I need to do to restart my weightloss journey and to start improving my health.7 -
✅ Exercise: 60 minutes walking

I was excited to see that I lost 2 1/2 pounds over the Christmas week while my sons were here. I thought it would be a little more challenging with them here, but I was very conscous about my eating and did a lot of walking. That seems to be the difference for me-- when I gain weight is when I am ignoring my behavior and not planning what I will eat. It also makes me wonder if the less intense exercise really is better for my weight loss given my history of adrenal burnout or if it is just a fluke that I lost more weight when I wasnt weightlifting or swimming much.

@seilidhe you can not look at December compared to the other months. Compare it if you must to other December's. You probably did very well if you were to do that. The only way we can improve is not talking down on ourselves. That yucky crappy feeling after we lash ourselves make it so much easier to ride it down the rabbit hole and eat all the things. You can shake this off and face the new year with confidence.5
