I would like to encourage those of us who are new this month to keep reporting everyday even if you aren't getting getting all three yes days. Some of us who have been here for many months took a while to become successful at limiting our pass days.
Which of the three rules are you finding the most difficult to do?
For me it was initially exercise but after more than a year with UAC I'm pretty consistent with exercise even if I do only the bare minimum of 20 mins.

Habits are habits. They become more and more automatic over time as they gradually become just what we do. But it DOES take time&practice. Just like any other skill we no longer think about. Like first learning to walk, or make the kinds of sounds that our parents could understand what we mean.
These days, for me, it isn't the act of logging, but the relationship between my most-of-the-time activity and the setting of the Daily Calorie goal. I am verrrry close now to the top end of my intended maintenance range (for the third time) and I am trying to find a good sustainable combination.
The last two times I crept up, it was because I stopped logging. BECAUSE I stopped logging, I started to graze more without considering the consequences.
And though the exercise type and amount didn't change much .... you really CAN'T outpace a (consistently) bad food-intake style.7 -

It was wet and windy this morning so it was a very short bike ride just down to the shops. This afternoon I did the usual Utube cardio exercises.
I find tracking/logging the one that derails me most often. This happens when I eat out, which pre-pandemic was quite frequent.
Iβm retired so finding time to exercise is easy. I ride my bike almost every day (even in the rain) and it has been I real lifesaver during the lockdowns. However, being retired also means that I go on holiday more. I have a motorhome which we use for several short breaks every year and we have coach holidays and overseas holidays (not since March 2020 obviously!) so most months there are several days that accurate logging is impossible. Sometimes I estimate and sometimes I don't bother. I've been maintaining for over 2 years now so accurate logging every day is not so important.

The thing that used to derail me was family celebrations, holidays etc. Over time this has ceased to be such a problem, especially now that I am in maintenance.
I moderate my CI before and after an event and βbankβ exercise calories beforehand, which usually means I drop a little weigh in advance, and lose any gained weigh quickly. I also donβt overindulge to the same degree as I used to.7 -

My pass days the last few months have not been isolated to just one or two of the 3 goals, but spread about. Typically I would say exercise is the easiest of the three for me, but that in itself presents the scenario where a day with missed exercise results in a pass day for being so exceptional. The more consistent in any (or all) gives me less wiggle room that I am comfortable in allowing.5 -
Did I track everything? Yes
Did I exercise? Yes
Did I stay within my budget? No. I was doing well all day, but got haaangry in the afternoon and went over. π
I'm still more or less happy with my day because: My husband let me get away from the kids for a couple hours for some "me time". Usually, when I go out alone, my first stop is to go to Starbucks or Dunkin or some other Cafe for a treat. But instead, I went for a walk at the mall (It's COLD π₯Ά in Massachusetts today).
I'm upset with myself a bit for my indulgences today, but I'm keeping in mind: "progress not perfection".

Tracking is the most difficult for me. It's the reason why I joined UAC. I am now tracking on a more consistent basis because of UAC, but it's still difficult on weekends.
Exercise isn't a problem for me EXCEPT on Sundays. Sunday has been my rest day since I started running in 2007 to give my legs a rest. I don't tend to do any strength training on Sundays either to give my whole body a rest. However since joining UAC I try to at least walk for 20 minutes so that I'm following the rules and don't use a pass day, but some Sundays, such as today, I decide nope, not gonna follow the rule, not going to even walk for the minimum 20, gonna give my legs/body a full day off.
Today I also decided to be lazy and not track. I guess I figured since I'm already taking a pass day today since I'm not exercising...π
As long as I don't get out of control with overeating/oversnacking I am fine with that.7 -
All three done. Sometimes motivation in general is a struggle I try to track right after I eat so I donβt forget5

lately exercise has been a struggle for me. But I'm just being lazy and a wimp, not wanting to go outside because of the cold. Im walking inside these days, so it's not near as much as I used to walk. Lol.7 -

Staying within calorie budget is the most difficult for me. I have a voracious appetite. One of my stress relievers in the past was to plan and cook a lovely meal. Cooking was very relaxing to me and kept my mind occupied. I am also a comfort eater. Living with anxiety means I'm generally worked up about something and it takes me longer to work it out of my system. I've been trying to hard this past year to try to find other ways of dealing with stress than binge eating. Being thin (even underweight) for most of my life has allowed me to get away with binging for years with no consequence. I'm finding it ridiculously hard to retrain myself. I can remember binging as young as 10 years old. It's only been about 4-5 years that I've been on anti-anxiety meds and less than a year that I've been working through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My journey on here has also been about self care and mental health.
Exercise is the easiest of the 3 for me but only during the warmer months. I find it harder to exercise in the winter.
Yes x 3 for me today!8 -

Yes x3. Exercise has gotten to be a challenge. I used to easily spend 45mins to an hour a day and now itβs a struggle to fit in 20-30 mins. It will get easier when it warms up.6

Exercise? I did, I did... got a 13.8 miles on my bike. It was 33ΒΊ ("feels like 28ΒΊ") when I left this morning. Sun was just beginning to rise. By the time I got to the park where I thought I was going to meet a group of riders, my fingers felt frozen (I'd worn cheapie knitted gloves I'd gotten at Walgreens or Walmart or something last year. Only one other person showed up. And, as I was on my way there, my back brake lever decided it wasn't going to move and when I looked at it, it looked like the cable had come detached from whatever it's attached to at the lever. Sigh. So, I only rode with my friend as far as getting back to my place and she continued her ride. We figured everybody else rolled over under their warm blankets and blew us off.
Tracked? Yes, and that is why I can say with certainty....
Calories? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! *DD2 (Darling Daughter #2) took us to Texas Roadhouse tonight and, like I said yesterday, I can't seem to make myself care enough to make good choices. Although I did manage to say no to ice cream at DQ afterwards.8 -
Yes x3 and back on track..
Monitored sugars and under.
For me staying under calorie limit will always be something that I need to work at. We grew up in a European family and food is literally life for us. Ha ha! I love to eat, so measuring allows me to control portion sizes. Working out is not overally hard for me thankfully. Xo6 -

I knew today was going to be tight. I tried to pre-log calories based on what I knew my friend was making for dinner tonight. With pre-logging, my chart said I would need to only have that one meal for the day if I didn't want to go over calories (even with exercise). An extra glass of champagne, a piece of bread with butter and dessert definitely put me over. Fun night though - our kids all were best friends first and then we became best friends too. Our girls are all turning 30 years old this year, so we've all known each other for 25 of those years.7
